Breakfast was over. Everyone had left the room except Ukano and Shaolan after a point.
The two discussed for some minutes. Shaolan's father eventually had to go to work, though.
In a hurry, before standing, he said seriously, "I'll ask our personal family physician to come and check your situation in detail later, Shaolan. Don't meet any other doctor before this, do you hear? I need to go, but what are your plans from now on? Do you want to go to school? You'll be 14 next month. At your age, it's too late to enroll inside the best institutes like Mai's old school, but I can get you into another one."
Visibly, and ever since Shaolan's earlier show of health, he was taking her a lot more seriously. She wasn't sure why he didn't want her to meet doctors on her own, though... In the memories, her parents didn't know about her different genital state.
Were the memories delusional?
Maybe...
Shaolan wasn't dumb enough to meet a doctor alone anyway. Not with that... It could damage Ukano's reputation. Not that he was needed long, but still.
It would've been fine if Shaolan didn't have tits, but she had some. Very cool ones, actually.
At any rate, in the fire nation, to have a voice at home, children needed brains and strength. More so strength. The fire nation was very military.
Though Ukano would never understand Shaolan's miraculous healing, and why she suddenly had such a strong thumb grip, she showed her potential.
She could become useful to the politician he was.
Searching through the memories yesterday, Shaolan learned how The Li household had always been centered around Ukano's beliefs and needs, after all…
As long as it would benefit him, anything was okay. That was why Shaolan didn't hesitate to get back her freedom by displaying her potential.
She had plans.
Shaolan shook her head and replied with a well-meaning smile, "Don't worry about me, father. I have my own plans. I want to build a business, but I'd like to explore the capital for a while first before talking to you seriously about my plans. Likewise, I've been locked up in my room too long, so I hope you don't mind me being a spoiled brat for a few more weeks."
"Business?" Hearing his daughter, Ukano frowned, but he was in a hurry. He didn't ask what kind. Not mentioning his curiosity or doubts yet, when he got up to leave, he first asked, "What about your education and your training?"
Shaolan had learned enough about elites, courtesy, etiquette, and politics. She could befriend nobles and world leaders, and pull through treacherous talks with them. This was what fire nation children were essentially taught besides fighting. It was basically the 1000 ways to flatter those with higher status and not to court death…. The rest wasn't that important… So she replied, chuckling, "Education? Haha, not that education's overrated, but how much should I l continue learning, father? For years, books have engrossed me. I've been taught more than enough, staying in this prison house. The teachers probably keep you informed, so you know that my brain isn't that unprofitable to this family… I've still got some use. As for training, I'm planning to give firebending one last go. Don't worry, I'm still lucid, I'll switch all my focus to swords if I fail again."
"... Haiya. Let's do that then until you've had your fun." Ukano sighed and said a bit helplessly. Not angry, as he walked out, he told, "I'm going. See you later, and don't run from the doctor."
"Sure. Have a peachy day." Ukano was closing the door when Shaolan said with a sedate, daughterly smile.
"Peachy? That's unrealistic. Good's enough." The politician said with a chuckle outside the door. His tone was a bit loosened up compared to usual.
Shaolan naturally didn't miss that detail. ATLA was heavily eastern influenced. Having good children they could brag about one day was Asian parents' favorite thing...well...besides damaging their mental well-being and their self-esteem.
What Ukano didn't know was that Shaolan was up to no good. The heart and soul of her plan was certainly the rise of their Li household. However, he, Ukano, wasn't included in it. He wasn't needed at all and would become a bother instead.
Leaving right next after her father, Shaolan's false smile left her lips.
She asked one of the guards to take her to the weapon storage room and leave her alone inside. She had a body to change, and some harsh training to commence.
It was her family's cache of weapons; she wasn't worried if items went away sketchily, as long as she wasn't caught in action using her fusion skill.

Inside the Li household's weapon stash. Doing her thing, a young noble was having the time of her life.
That young noble was little lady Shaolan. She was having fun, and was perhaps going a bit overboard.
Spears, swords, knives, bows... Shaolan slowly removed items she deemed useful from the crates and lockers. Then, with an amazingly fast devouring gesture, she sucked them into her body.
One way or another, everything she absorbed became part of her. A part with a purpose or a multipurpose.
Shaolan accomplished all that with a queasy smile not departing her lips. The same smile she had ever since the guard closed the door behind her.
She was rejoicing. Disgustingly so.
She had power in her second life. Purchasing power. She'd been hopeless on the road of strength...
But now, through her fusion skill, she was officially opening that road.
... The road to a safeguarding, warriorlike strength.
---
Minutes later.
Feeling her new body, Shaolan marvelled. She had taken on several new properties and abilities.
Heaviness, iron, steel, sharpness, were a few. The power to pierce, thrust like a spear were others. She could do that with most parts of her body.
Shaolan could now transform part of or her whole body into the items she'd absorbed just now. Doing that wasn't necessary to use the skills. It was mostly variety or utility in the hands of others.
Shaolan didn't intend to get used as a weapon or an armor yet.
She was an armored, weaponized missus without doing this. Harming her was already difficult. It would be more so after she trains.
Though she obtained odd abilities just now, they could get better when her own strength improves. Or when better items of the same type are devoured.
It wasn't a cultivation world, still. So the chances of her finding 999 different types of steel or ginseng was impossible.
Cultivation worlds were their own weird thing. With her ability there, Shaolan could get a godlike body before cultivating, probably. She wasn't disappointed or envious, though. With her fusion skill, she could make talking and running ginseng wherever she was.
Earlier, when she absorbed the bow and the arrows, another curious thing happened. Shaolan was a projectile too. Meaning that she could use her body as a bow to shoot arrows. Those arrows would come out her body and could be made of any, all materials inside her.
The base shooting power and velocity was the item's. The upper limit was influenced by Shaolan's training here as well.
Strength spoke for everything.
Her evolved fusion skill was actually unbalanced like that. It was not very fair. The way she used her skills was limited by her talent and intelligence.
Leaving the room to conduct tests and train later, she was greatly satisfied with her new skills. The ones she could think of, at least... But she headed towards the kitchens first. She needed to make a quick and furtive stop there.
Shaolan couldn't get her hands on heavy artillery yet. She recalled fire nation military ships using explosives.
For now, she would do with an ancient, pizza-like oven to totally transform the body's previously fragile heart.
There was no size limit to what Shaolan could devour or fuse.
With an oven-like heart, and oven like blood vessels, she was sure no accident would happen during harsh exercise. It would also bring her some more fire resistance, though she probably already had a good basis right now with all the steel she stole from her father now.
"Wait, isn't that gold?" On the way out of the storage room, Shaolan delayed. Her eyes moved to the handle of a spear she'd randomly thrown.
Furrowing her brows, she raised her hand. Looking at it turning gold, she shook her head and sighed.
Her fusion skill's shortcoming was her brain. It looked like she needed to devour someone smarter than her one of these days.
Shaolan had never killed anyone in her two past lives, but she'd seen people around her kill. Often for her in her second one.
She wasn't too soft, so she was ready to dirty her hands when needed.
---
Minutes later.
When Mai found Shaolan to tell her that her mom and the doctor were waiting for her, Shaolan's face turned a bit blue.
She was so happy with her newfound body skills that she had forgotten about something important.
----------------
"What's wrong?" When they walked back together from the kitchens, Mai asked her sister. Shaolan was naturally scared of her doctor. To her, he was the constant reminder of her vicious disease.
Mai just didn't think that now that Shaolan was healed, she would still make such a face.
Staring at her sister suspiciously, she waited for her to answer.
The next thing she heard, shocked her.
Shaolan looked at her seriously and said, "Mai, can you kill for me? I'd absolutely kill for you."
