Chương 13: Ch 13 Payback
After becoming a revolutionary I logged off while outside I decided to look at the One Piece Online forms to gain info.
I see a post online titled 'OPO bug, I died out of nowhere on an island in the West Blue'
The video shows the player walking through the forest. In a near instant, his throat explodes with blood, a long slit carved through his skin.
He dies after bleeding out on the ground, the view on his video is in the third person so I can see no one is around, must be the work of a devil fruit. I thought Absolom had the clear clear fruit in grand line so what is this?
After searching the forms a bit more I see a player posting on a devil fruit he had eaten. A player named LazerFace didn't name the fruit but he turns into a kangaroo so it must be a zoan.
I don't think there was a kangaroo fruit in the manga, though it was always implied that there were many more fruits out there.
He posted a link to his stream, I watched a bit to see him fight. The fruit made him stronger and faster than his human form, also he had a powerful kick with his legs.
On-stream he explained that it took a bit of getting used to but he could control the transformation with his mind rather than verbal commands, his tail is controlled the same way.
LazerFace's post sparked a torrent of discussion on devil fruits online, so far no one knows the types yet or are just keeping it to themselves like me.
The next day I'm back online and climbing up the cliff again much easier, now launching myself upwards at 2 meters each pull. I'm good at moving around now and Huey is chucking rocks at me, not even waiting until I reach halfway now.
I reach the top at my fastest time yet, Huey is there waiting for me, and we both travel to the training grounds.
"Next up is the Defence step, you gotta hunker down and stay steady like this" Master Huey says.
He shows me the step but it's a lot more of body positioning than moving around except for moving forward to lessen the power of strikes.
While using it, my VIT is 2x stronger while STR is halved, that's all the physical stats so I'm not sure what's next.
I practice until I can do it consistently and Huey calls me over.
Master Huey is sitting on the porch of his house peacefully, next to him is a book and a box, when I approach he says.
"This is as far as we can go with your teaching, your body is too weak for the last 2 steps, and while you could stay here until you're strong enough I know you wish to travel the world" Huey continues.
"Here is a book containing the VI steps in their entirety, when your body is ready you can learn them without me"
"Thank you Master Huey I will make you proud" I say while bowing.
"Also take this" Huey says as he hands me a box.
Inside is a handheld transponder snail, it has a blue shell and orange skin and has a monocle over its right eye.
"This transponder snail will connect you to Gaston, he is the head of communication in the south blue. Call him if you have any info on the marines or to gather information" Huey explained.
Incredible this will be useful for all sorts of things.
"Can I make normal calls with it or is it revolutionary business only?" I ask.
"Sorry but this only connects to Gaston for safety issues, you are going to have to get another snail for personal calls" Huey answers.
Shame that limits things but this is still amazing, put the snail back in the box and pack it away in my backpack.
"But that's enough of gift giving now we fight" Huey said standing up.
"And you can't use them fancy gloves" Huey says.
I quickly go to my status and add 2 points to AGI to get it to 50.

I'll need all the help I can get in this fight, I walk to the raised platform and take my place in front of him. I look him in his eyes and take the Speed Step stance.
"3,2,1 Go" Huey calls out but doesn't move.
I rush in with great speed and deliver a body blow to his liver with my left.

I dont stop and quickly launch a jab at his face but he blocks it and smashes a straight right into my face.

He only did 100 damage which means he is holding back. I head back in and throw a feint to his left side, he goes to block and I Double Tap him to his face.

While he's stunned I switch to Strength Step to double my STR and I throw 2 straights to his face.

Huey regains control and punches me, I swerve out of the way but it was a feint and he decks me across the face using Strength Step himself.

Huey doesn't stop there and uses his own Double Tap to stun me in place, while stunned he winds up a punch to hit me with hard.

My health is down to 283/1200, I dodge back to get some space but he's already in front of me about to strike again, I switch to Defense Step and block his hit.

I switch back to Speed Step and shoot a feint at him, he goes to block and I launch another Double Tap at him, though after successfully jabbing him in the face when I went to follow up with an elbow he coated his face with Haki and blocked the strike and stun.
He punched me in the chest knocking me down and ending the fight.

I'm down to 53 HP now.
"You didn't seriously think you'd win right?" Huey says looking down at me.
"I was hoping I could, but that damned black skin thing beat me again, can you teach me how to do that?" I ask knowing full well that it's Haki.
"This is Armament Haki, it's one of 3 types of Haki, though I can't teach you because Haki is something you unlock within yourself after many battles and training. It is the manifestation of will so never give up" Huey explained to me.
"Anyway enough of that you did well in integrating the different steps into this fight I think you're ready" Master Huey said as he helped me to my feet.
I already patched myself up thankfully it's just a beating no broken bones. I didn't get an achievement for Haki, maybe someone else already found out about them.
We go to have a last drink before I head off.
The evening is serene and there is a gentle breeze blowing against my face, I'm going to miss Huey even though I know he's not real, I would be upset if he died.
NPCs only live once in this world so their deaths are permanent. When reading One Piece I knew that the characters were fictional but still cared about them and being in this game only heightens that feeling.
Master Huey interrupts my pondering and asks.
"So where are ya heading next?"
"I heard rumors of a poneglyph on Willow Island, plus they have good medical herbs there too" I say explaining my reasoning.
"A poneglyph really, if you do find one tell Gaston we are very interested in the true history of the world" Huey states.
"Sure thing Huey, by the way, do you know of any good ships here?"
"Well, there are the transport ships traveling to different islands, as well as the ships of the various dojo's on the island" Huey says thinking.
"Wait do the Moon Severing Style dojo have a ship?" I ask
"Umm ya they have a small 5-person boat at the dock, did you pay the 20000 grand for lessons?" Huey tells me.
"Yes but now I know how they can pay me back"
I say my goodbyes to Master Huey, I might see him again since he works for the Revolutionary Army.
This time when leaving the mountain top I sprint and leap off the edge facing the town, I pull my chute early and glide almost all the way there.
I land smoothly and pack my chute, then head into town. I go to a shop and pick up a compass and a map of the surrounding islands. There is no map of the South Blue so this is the best I can do.
I head to the private docks and locate the Moon Severing Dojo's boat.
I hop on and quickly untie the ropes, the INT blue writing shows me how to raise the sail based on my observations based on watching the crew that took me to this island.
As the sail fills with air and the boat being to move a disciple of the Moon Severing Dojo sees me and starts shouting to get help.
"Stop that's the property of the Moon Severing Dojo, are you courting death!"
But at this point, it's too late to stop me as I have already left the dock and am heading for the open seas. As I leave the dock I hear players talking.
"Way to go, fuck the Moon losers"
"Those guys robbed me"
"Damn why didn't I think of that?"
I soon sail out of earshot range and adjust my direction according to the compass, next stop Willow Island.

Onto the next Island
My explanation on Haki is that there is a hidden 6th stat WILL and it increases when training hard or fighting hard.
WILL can go down if you die, so people who never die will unlock Haki first.
Additionally, the 3 types of Haki are connected to the 3 Stats STR, INT, and CHA
A combination of your WILL and one of the other stats controls how you unlock haki
So mc is gonna unlock Observation first
I explained this because I didn't really know how to explain Haki rules in the story until way later when more is understood about the game
