Chương 11: Ch 11 Gaining a Fighting Style
An old wise looking man dressed in finely woven silk with intricate patterns of white trees with golden leaves approaches us and stands about 5 meters away from the crowd of players watching.
The Moon severing style karate, not only is the name one of the less stupid ones, but the master wasn't begging for students in fact you had to pay 20000 berries for lessons upfront.
I already paid and I'm hoping this isn't dogshit like all the other so-called masters on this island, this is my 8th master I've came to for teachings.
"I will show you the Moon Tree Slicing Chop" Master Luno said while showing the side of his right hand.
"Disciples bring the wood" Master Luno shouted.
Two strong-looking disciples in white gi's brought out a large wooden block that actually looked tough, if he can slash through that with a chop it's money well spent.
The disciples place their hands on the top of the block and then lift it to reveal the block was actually a box. The disciples reach inside and take out a fragile twig and bring it before Luno
"Watch as I sever the log" the so-called master Luno said.
He brings down his hand with a chop and broke the twig, I'm already walking away i'll get my money back later. Other players got the same idea and left.
"Wait if you inspect closely you can see a perfect cut, I literally disintegrated the wood that I touched" Luno said.
The twig was just broken normally I don't know what he's talking about, but some players turned back to hear more likely staying because they already paid.
I walk through the forest looking for mobs to take my anger out on I think, damn another false master where can I go to learn anything useful, I thought about that Oni guy but I wanted to be a fist fighter with a devil fruit and Oni can probably only teach me some axe skills.
I don't know what Devil fruit I want but obviously an Op one like a Logia or Mythical zoan, not sure wether I can steal a fruit like that theory online of the fruit reincarnating to the closest same fruit nearby. (Note from the author here that's not how it works in this game it's just random)
To do that I'd need a devil fruit encyclopedia, I couldn't find one on Crossroads Island, and there aren't any libraries on this island. While lost in thought I hear.
"Boooom!!!" coming from up ahead.
I check that my Spring Knuckles are ready and head in to see what's going on. As I come closer I see a large tree on its side with dust settling around it this falling must have caused the sound.
As I come forward I see Oni D Huey squaring up against the immobile tree his axe off his back and off to the side in the clearing.
He brings up his arms to form a boxing guard and draws his right fist back and punches straight into the base of the tree.
With that, the tree shatters and splinters at the base leaving a splintered and gaping hole and proceeds to keel over and crash to the side. The noise is even louder up close, Oni who is looking away from me suddenly tenses up.
Instantly he turns in my direction and charges toward me. Observation Haki even more reason to get this guy to teach me plus that fighting style is right up my alley for a fighting technique.
I put my hands up in a show of peace and say.
"Well Oni D Huey your quite the strong lumberjack, I don't want to fight"
"Kid your playing with forces you don't understand" he said looking pissed.
Shit, this is going south I need to find a way to convince him to train me or at least not kill me, if you die you respawn on the tutorial island with nothing and reduced stats.
He has the D in his name and they are supposed to oppose the gods or in One piece terms the celestial dragons and the world government. Garp and Jaguar D Saul however had the D and were marines, either way, I'm going to take a risk and announce my hatred of the world government.
This isn't a lie by the way ever since I first started hearing about various crimes the world government committed my dislike for the organization grew to full-blow hatred by the time the Sabody Archipelago arc showed the world nobles.
Slavery is something I abhor in real life and equally so in the One piece series, half the fun of this game for me will be fucking with the marines and world nobles.
As a last-minute buff to this working out, I quickly dump my 15 stat points in CHA because it should help me with convincing him and the stat being so low was starting to piss me off.
"I wish to learn fighting from you so I can oppose the World Government at every turn and one day bring down the ones in charge" I say as clearly as possible with a look of determination.
I truly believe I can make it happen, it's practically guaranteed with Luffy eventually sailing the seas. And with my future knowledge, I can make it 100 percent possible.
"Really kid, you plan to fight the world government?" Oni says but his face relaxed.
"Yes sir most people don't see the truth, sure most of the marines at the bottom genuinely want to do good. But the further up you go the more corrupted it gets" I state showing my intelligence.
"Hmm, ok kid I'll give you a trial run, get ready to taste the underworld" he shouts as he charges at me, though I notice he is moving much slower than before.
"Yes, Master" I say as I bring up my guard.
He goes to hit me with a left jab to the face and then a straight right but I blocked both with my gauntleted guard.

Damn even though I blocked them it still took over a tenth of my health.
I move forward and repeat his moves back at him releasing the spring for each. Oni doesn't even block and takes them to the chest.

"Hmm you're stronger than you look, are those special gloves?" Oni said.
While he was talking I reloaded the knuckles. The attack seemed to barely phase him he doesn't even have puncture wounds on his chest.
"I tend to fight with my mind as well as my fists" I answer him.
"You remind me of a friend of mine" he tells me.
I rush in while he's talking and go for a right uppercut with spring release but he effortlessly dodged it wasting my shot and then proceeds to hit me right in the face into the ground.

"Fuck" I can't help but say, my health is at like half and my head is spinning. He is looking down at me and kick at him and release my hidden blade, it flies true and hits him right in the stomach but his skin turns black and the blade shatters on connection.
"God Damn your too strong" I say looking up at him from the ground.
"Yes, but that comes with time and training. You are stronger than I was at your age" Oni says and then looks at my feet.
"And more cunning, I could have used that in my past, well Oda you've impressed me i'll teach you VI Step Boxing" Master Oni said calling me by my name for the first time.
"Thank you Master Oni" I say with glee.
I sit up and start applying healing balm to my face and drinking medicinal brews that speed up my healing.
"You're very resourceful Oda and just call me Huey, not a fan of my past name" Huey tells me.
He tells me to follow him to his base where he will train me. I tell him about my journey so far and my aspirations of becoming a pirate and he takes it in stride, though he doesn't tell me anything about himself other than he came to this island for peace and quiet.
We arrive at a mountain surrounded by forest with a steep sheer cliff face. I'm already getting a bad feeling about this.
"My base is at the top of this mountain you must strengthen your arms for boxing by climbing up using only your arms" Huey told me bluntly.
Huey began demonstrating by doing so himself effortlessly, in fact, it was more of pulling himself up 10 meters with one motion and repeating it.
"I'll see you at the top and remember no legs or ill punish you" Huey shouted down as he ascended at a frightening pace.
Awe man, this going to suck.
Meanwhile at the Top
"Puru puru puru" a transponder snail with goggles on rings
"Hello, Huey is that you ?" a voice on the other end says.
"Yes Sir sorry to call at an irregular time" Huey speaks into the receiver.
"It's fine Huey what do you have to report?" the voice says.
"I found this kid who I decided to teach, I believe he supports our cause"
"That should be ok Huey as long as you stay on the island and report anything suspicious back to Revolutionary HQ, you can do as you please within reason"
"Thanks, Sir, and I think you would like him too he seems to be an inventor too" Huey responds.
"Hohoho I look forward to meeting him I have to go, Lindbergh out"
Huey hangs up the receiver and walks to the edge and looks down at Oda trying to scale the wall and smiles.

Finally Found a master will learn cool stuff and gain more achievements :)
Also showed my policy on how devil fruits work mc will not be able to get any fruit he wants simply by killing people, but he doesn't know this yet.
Still on the fence about whether I want mc to gain multiple devil fruits, if he does get multiple it won't be for a long time.
Also for other players in the game, I'm having trouble coming up with cool martial arts styles or swordsmanship styles.

I have a whole page full of characters with cool OC devil fruits but I am seriously lacking regular fighters which doesn't make sense in-game because logically there would be way more regular fighters than devil fruit fighters.
