SHHH!, this is a library
Hogwarts library
"Do you need help with that potions assignment Luna?." Susan asked.
The three girls were doing their homework at the library along with a small number of other students. There are around twenty of them currently occupying the library.
Luna shakes her head. "No, but thank you for asking. Potions is my favorite class so I enjoy doing these."
"You actually enjoy potions class?" Hannah asked incredulously.
"Yeah, how can you enjoy it? Professor Snape barely explains anything and He is always so mean, especially to Harry." Susan asked.
"Well, to be fair. Professor Snape would probably be nicer to Harry if He stopped blowing up cauldrons in his class." Hannah pointed out.
Susan chuckled softly "He is getting better this year. He hasn't blown up anything so far."
"I don't think Professor Snape is so mean. I suppose he could explain things better but I can feel that there is a lot of sadness in him preventing Him from doing better. " Luna said while she was working on her paper.
Susan and Hannah looked at each other, not knowing what to say.
They both then heard some snickers from a table close to them. Susan took a look to discover a trio of Slytherings sitting there.
Theodore Nott, Crabble, and Pansy Parkinson, who now seems to follow Nott everywhere for some reason.
When Nott noticed Susan looking at him, he gave her a threatening glare.
Susan just ignored him and went back to her work. She knows that Nott is all bark and no bite and he is also very much afraid of Harry, even if he tries to pretend otherwise.
Suddenly they heard someone screaming outside. Most of the students stood up from their seats and looked towards the entrance door of the library.
Some of the students started to walk towards it, in order to check what the commotion was about.
Before anyone could make it to the door, they heard a tremendously loud crashing noise. The walls shook, the floor shook and after a moment of silence a second crashing noise, louder this time, and now they could see the door of the library and the surrounding wall broke down into a hundred pieces and they flew everywhere.
Everyone screamed in panic and took cover from the debris. They were all wondering what could have caused so much damage to the castle walls...when they heard a terrifying sound.
A loud hissing sound, louder than any hiss they have even thought possible. The dust in the room was setting down and they could finally see a figure standing at the destroyed entrance of the library, which was now nothing more than a big hole.
Standing there was a colossal snake looking in their direction, moving its tongue and hissing loudly.
A blood-curling scream was heard from someone and then more screams follow. No one could believe what they were seeing.
The librarian was the only adult currently in the room, so she felt she had the responsibility to protect the students from this monster, although she did not know how.
"S-stop…D-don't get any closer," The librarian said while trembling and pointing her wand at the snake.
The basilisk seem to sense that there was a human right in front of her with hostile intentions, so she started slithering quickly towards her target.
"Reducto!" The librarian launched her spell toward the snake who was swiftly approaching.
The spell hit true on the side of the basilisk, a few scales were torn off, but not much damage was done.
The librarian did not have time to do anything else before the basilisk reached her, opened Its giant mouth, and swallowed the librarian whole…
Hannah was about to scream when Susan put a hand over her mouth.
"Shhhh." She grabed Hannahn and Luna and said. "Come on, we need to hide."
"Hide? where?" Hannah managed to ask.
"She is blind. Haven't you noticed?." Luna added, she seem oddly calm.
"Luna is right, that Thing has no eyes, If we hide and make no noise It will not find us before help gets here," Susan whispered while moving towards the forbidden section of the library.
"Is a good thing her eyes are damaged, or we would all be dead already," Luna mentioned softly.
"What are yo-"
Luna interrupted Hannah with her next words that made their blood run cold.
"That's a basilisk."
They managed to reach the forbidden section while the basilisk seem to now be slowly moving through the library, looking for her next meal.
They were not the only ones who had this idea as it seems, there were others hiding already there.
Susan looked around and could see that most students were also frantically looking for places to hide.
She then heard Luna gasp while looking towards another corner of the library, Susan, curiously looked in the same direction.
They could see two small first-year girls were pushed from under a desk and they heard them plead with whoever had pushed them.
"P-please, let us hide there too." One of the girls spoke in tears.
"Get lost mudblood!. Go feed the basilisk, maybe It would leave us in peace then."
They could not see the speaker, but the voice was more than familiar.
"Nott!, that bastard. " Susans felt her face heat up in anger.
"How can He be so heartless?." Hannah covered her mouth.
The basilisk heard the voices and immediately started moving slowly towards the girls who were still pleading and crying.
Susan rose from her hiding spot, her eyes were resolute.
"Susan, what are you-?" Hannah wanted to ask what she was going to do but stopped herself. She already knew her friend had a thing for helping others.
Luna also rose up. "I'll help."
"M-me t-too" Hannah managed to say despite her fear.
"We just need to distract that beast for a little bit. I'm sure help is already on the way. Professors must have heard all the commotion." Susan pulled out her wand.
The basilisk was getting closer to the two girls, who were now paralyzed in fear.
Nott, Crabble, and Parkinson started to slowly move to the other side of the desks, away from the two girls, just in case they had to run.
"N-no… p-please. " One of the girls begged when the snake was only a few feet away and started to open Its mouth.
"DIFFNDO!" The spell flew quickly and hit the basilisk in the face.
The spell actually managed to hit It right where Its eyes used to be before the Phoenix ripped them apart, but the flesh there was left unprotected, so when the spell hit, it managed to cause a great deal of pain.
The basilisk hissed loudly and wiggled Its body around.
The trio ran to an empty part of the library and continued to fire spells and yell at the basilisk to lure It away from the two first-year girls.
And it worked all too well. They now had the basilisk's full attention as it moved fast towards them.
"Ok, we got Its attention," Susan said
"That's great Susan!...but now what?" Hannah raised one eyebrow.
"Is finally here." Luna smiled.
"We know Luna, we can see the GIANT snake coming," Hannah exclaimed while pointing towards the basilisk. She was too scared to feel fear at this point and went directly into anger.
"I was not talking about the basilisk." Luna looked towards the entrance.
