"If I have the white disease. There is a high chance I will die," Mauve mumbled.
She watched the color fade from Jael's face. She didn't think a vampire could get any paler but Jael showed her it was.
However, he recovered quickly, his expression hardening. "That's not going to happen," he said without hesitation, leaving no room for argument.
"Yeah," she said, her lips turning into a thin line. "I am most likely just mistaken."
Jael didn't say anything to this, rather, he stretched out his hands and pulled Mauve into his legs, holding her close.
She pressed her face onto his shirt and bit the inside of her cheeks to stop herself from crying.
He held her like that for a few seconds, rocking her on his legs as she sat across them.
"I will go get Kieran to check it. He might not know what it is but he might have some idea and tell us where to go from there at least until Jean gets here."
