"If Louis didn't tell me now, would you have mentioned it ever?" She asked, staring hard at him.
Jael looked away from her for a second. "I would have," he said as their eyes met again. "I did promise not to keep things from you. I just didn't want to give you another thing to worry about."
Her eyes softened a little, "I am not complaining," she said and pulled her hands from him. "I want to worry about such things."
"I hear you," he said and kissed the top of her forehead.
"And eat," she said as she leaned into the kiss.
"You don't have to tell me twice," he replied.
Mauve placed her head on his chest, unwilling to move for a bit. It could have gone completely differently. He could have died and she wouldn't have known.
Now that she wasn't angry that he had kept it from her, she was hit with this. She had never really been concerned for Jael's life as he was a vampire but he wasn't invincible.
