I saw his attractive blonde hair and those heavenly body of his that had him standing out amongst the other male seniors on the stage.
My eyes traveled around trying to look for other familiar faces amongst them and I saw the three dancers seniors who were my team leaders. As much as I loved to sing and dance, I don't think I wanted to sing and dance in the competition but it seemed like the right place for me. I just felt and thought I would look normal showcasing normal talents.
"And who told you singing and dancing is for normal people ? Ok, it might be normal but it's not normal people who does it well, it is only
the talented ones" second annoying jerk said to me.
I could not believe he just said that, like second annoying jerk was friendly and not teasing?
Wow, we're making progress.
I wanted to tell him thanks for the nice words but he does not deserve it.
One right doesn't cancel all his wrongs so l returned my gazes to the seniors.
And there, I saw him.
My crush, my senior Oliver...!
I wanted to shriek in excitement but swallowed my breathe when annoying jerk eyes met with mine. It was as if he heard my thoughts about senior Oliver as his gaze was intense and he stared at me with an intense and disgusted look
Oh, I knew!
I spanked is buttocks! Was he bargaining thoughts of how much it would be nice when he gets to retaliate?
Was he going to spank my ass?
Oh dear lord, what have I done again?
I shifted my eyes away from him and acted as though I hadn't seen him
" Thank God Meds, I was actually thinking it would take forever before you finally decide to get going" Pandora sighed behind me.
Meds?
What's Meds?
I hope it wasn't what I was thinking.
*What's Meds" I asked her with a frown. The girls were in view now.
They were just a row away from where we were. Mia had seen me coming with Pandora but she removed her gaze after a shake of her
head and returned to looking at the seniors.
"Meds, that's the pet name I gave you Clarke" I heard Pandora say. I knew it...!
I was right, she was giving me a lame pet name.
" Huh, I prefer Medusa. You can cal me Clarke too it's fine" I smiled sheepishly.
"You give lame names but are not fine with being given one " second annoying jerk said. Good, just when l was starting to believe he was a good boy now.
I ignored him and ran to envelop senior Eira in the most tightest of hugs.
"I am so proud of you!" I screamed while running to her. I accidentally stepped on a newbie.
"Watch it" he yelled but I igrored him too.
Let's ignore the boys now, they are being silly.
Except for senior Oliver of course.
Senior Eira was probably stunned to see me so happy for her as she only chucked lazily and withdrew from the embrace " Thank you
Medusa" she said simply and.. " Have a sit, the team members are addressing us now" she admonished.
Luckily, there was a vacant seat beside her but none for Pandora.
I strained my neck to look out for an empty seat for her but found one behind Mia.
Would it be fine if Pandora sits close to Mia?
How would I know that if I do not try?
So.. " Look Pandora, there's an empty seat there. Go sit beind Mia'" I smiled at her and took my seat beside senior Eira, feeling funky to be sitting beside the cool senior who just received an award from the school.
lt was senior Oliver who first spoke " Hello magical students." he roared with a smile.
Oh his smile, one of the things I loved about him.
Unlike the teachers, he got no response from the rest of the school which made him look awkward standing there and shouting.
I had to do something to help him out " Hello senior Oliver" I screamed thrusting my hands into the air.
The gazes that followed my shouts made it seem as though I was the one in the awkward situation, not senior Oliver.
"Medusa, would you please.." Mia whispered scolding me.
I pouted and eyed her before coughing lightly, the whole school had their eyes on me including annoying jerk. Oh no, I'm dead meat.
"Meds is so cool, one of the reasons I like her" Pandora laughed speaking into Mia's ears from the back she was sitting.
I think the Pandora calling me Meds needs meds.
What was so cool about me?
If it was in high school, I would have said she was correct but not in this magical college with opponents that were far from my league.
Mia rolled her eyes from beneath her glasses shortly before removing them, breathing into them, and wiping them off her sweatshirt.
Damn, Mia was being bitchy. That was the answer she wanted to give to Pandora. Don't know if Pandora caught it or not.
She was indirectly saying 'Oh please, I wasn't speaking to you' with her action.
The seniors continued with their speeches and everyone seemed to have forgotten about me now. They were all focused on the seniors.
"We are standing here to announce to you that I will be leading the horse race team now. We lost the former leader whom I only seconded as a vice leader, our most esteemed male top student of the sixth year senior Dale, to the unfortunate happenings in the school recently." he paused a bit before going on in a rather low tone " His bravery will be remembered, he died saving a
senior in his class from the hands of an infected. He almost infected the others in the hostel too as none knew he was infected even him. However, on the discovery of his infected status, it was said he went out to die silently on his own. It is our job to honor him by winning this competition"
The senior's death was sad but it pained me more I do not know anything about riding horses. It would be nice to ride horses alongside senior Oliver. I never knew he could ride horses so well to be posted vice leader of the horse team.
The rest of the seniors addressed us informing us about the updates on each team.
Senior Natasha, Nat alie, Ledie, and Joyce did a bit of their singing thing but this time, it was a sorrowful song.
We hummed and bent our necks to honor the dead students until we were all dispersed and asked to return to our hostels and to begin
classes the next day.
That would be teacher Elora's glass. Can't wait to see what mathamancy was like.
We all stood from our seats, each party excited to be back into their normal lives at school and chit-chatting their way all through.
Senior Eira led us away and all four of us walked with her. I was silently sad about having to say goodbye to senior Eira and not seeing her before I sleep and every time l woke up. I was brooding on my thoughts when we heard a hoarse voice call us
from behind.
I recognized that voice, oh no.
It was the bully senior and his friends, the one Mackenzie dealt with.
I knew this day would come. Why did the virus take the wrong people huh?
" Hey, you little erring newbies. Stop right there " they ordered again when we didn't stop.
I had increased my pace but senior Eira stopped and turned to them. "What did you say?" she furrowed a brow and bit her upper lip.
" Senior Eira." the bulies exclaimed when they saw her.
She continued to take a few steps closer to them " Do you have a problem with my girls?" she crossed her hands across her chest, satisfied that she had gotten closer to them enough.
I saw the pained and scared look on the bullies faces. I had been contemplating on how I would defend myself when I crossed paths with them again and had been praying Mackenzie would be around when I do but the heavens granted my wish and added a bonus. Senior Eira was there too.
The budlies' leader raised his hand up to point at us but threw it down and kept it behind him when he saw the look on senior Eira's face.
" Ehh.. Nothing " he smiled with the whole of his face " We just wanted to commend them, especially that one" he pointed at Mackenzie " for using her powers and bruising us so well when she
had only spent a few days in the school" he finished with an unsure tone.
"Oh really?" serior Eira asked sarcastically.
"Yes, yes of course" they all chanted like priests praying to bubba.
" They've heard what you said and they said thanks, " senior Eira said to them then turned her neck without turning the whole of her body
and face us "Right girls?" she asked us.
It was Mackenzie who answered her " Yes boys, we heard you right. Now run along," she said with confidence in her voice.
Easy for her, she's 18, getting powers and ones she could control at that.
"You heard the lady...!" senior Eira repeated and the bully seniors all scurried away.
Senior Eira must be so powerful for her to be feared and respected that well by the bully seniors. She looked like a big sister looking out
for her younger ones. She was our superwoman, we'll be needing her. I hope Mia sees it too because I am sure right now, she must have been
scared down to her wits.
"You were so cool right now senior" Pandora exclaimed.
Oh, I almost forgot she was still with us.
Trust serior Eira to ignore her like she wasn't the one being spoken to and that's what she did. She only turned to us with an apologetic and sad look.
" Girls, I guess I have to go my way now. Do stay safe and steer clear of Brian and his friends. I know they might come back for you but I have scared them away a bit. They are but students in the second year who had repeated the class more than once, so do not fear them much" she coached us.
I never knew you could repeat classes in a magical school too.
My senior Eira was leaving us now.
