Talking and dealing with the delusional jerk left me in a bad mood but I stay silent and keep walking. No more distractions! I continue along the path for as long as possible before reaching the part with leaves. Now there were more...
I sigh, wave my hand and watch as the leaves gently blow out of my way like a low-powered leaf blower. I didn't want to make out with the ground once again. Twice was definitely enough. I keep a slow pace until I reach the spot.
My magic could still be felt as I come to a stop. I glance around the area, taking in all the trees, looking for some kind of clue but nothing is found. I push my magic out and watch as all the leaves in the area are blown back, creating an open circle on the ground.
I walk over to the center of the circle and stare down at the spot I once laid in. It looks normal but...
I crouch down, placing my hand down on the cool, slightly damp dirt. My magic saturates the ground here, but I don't feel anyone else. Just me. Was I the only one sent to this world/time? Or had Aiya come as well?
Maybe she just landed somewhere else? I frown, wanting to kick myself. Maybe, maybe, maybe. I could do this all day, but it wouldn't help me find my way back. I close my eyes, pulling deep as I try to summon as much magic as possible before throwing it into the ground.
The entire woods rock, sway and snap as leaves blow all around but I remain still. My hand slightly trembles as I look around at the surrounding trees. Nothing. Not even a little flutter. Nothing opens.
I want to get angry, but instead, I take a deep breath and stand on shaky legs. Mago speaks up, "That was a lot of magic... what were you trying to do?" I sigh, walking over to the closest tree before leaning over and sitting down.
I lean my back against the tree as I softly say, "When I came here, I was being attacked. I summoned a lot of magic and when Aiya and I collided, everything went dark. I woke up to find myself here in this world. I was trying to somehow recreate what happened when I came here but it clearly didn't work. I think I need another witch or warlock."
Mago chooses not to comment about Aiya or ask any more questions, he's quiet before saying, "I see. You must need another to recreate what happened." I nod as I chew on my lip. I look around us as I say, "If I better understood how I got here in the first place, I may be able to figure out a way to get back without needing someone else."
Mago remains silent but I can feel him deep in thought. I close my eyes and lean my head back, enjoying the sun breaking through the treetops as I try to think. Vanir had shown me books on time travel and parrel worlds, but they were all in theory. Childlike stories really.
No one had actually done it. It was just a theory we had saying that it may be something possible. What are the odds of me finding out how to do just that? But unknowingly. Okay, think. There was a circle of death, six people in cloaks.
They all surrounded me, pulling at my magic, trying to absorb it as their own. I start to break the circle, causing chaos in what should have been order. Aiya stepped in, forming a seventh person but her magic was her own.
I then flipped the circle, using it against the ones who made it. Wait... that's right! I absorbed their power! It wasn't mine. I stole it from them and then used it against Aiya who was outside of the circle.
My blow broke through the circle and then collided with Aiya's magic. The two powers then tore a hole... had to have. In order for me to be here, it had to have created a hole of some sort. The perfect environment was made without us even knowing.
I frown as I try to figure out how to recreate that. I don't have witches and warlocks to drain and even if I did, I couldn't do it just to find my way back home. I know I'm twisted but I'm not that twisted.
No, I need to find some other way to create similar results. Think, think, think.
"Are you hurt?" A deep voice nearly has my heart jumping straight out of my chest. I look up to find Weimin looking down at me with concern. When he sees me jump, he lifts both hands and says, "Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you."
I glare up at him and snap, "Are you following me??" He looks slightly offended as he says, "No! That's why I said we must be fated. I've been looking for this location for weeks. I got a report about a strange power in these woods, so I came to check it out. There have been other reports about demons in the area as well. I can't overlook something like this."
I blink, slightly surprised. Had my magic somehow affected the area? I clear my voice and ask, "Demons?" He takes on a grave look as he says, "Yes, long ago they used to walk the earth with us, but demons are dangerous and can't be trusted. The king back then ordered all demons to be killed and thus wiped them all out. It's been over a hundred years since the last demon walked this earth but now... We've received ten reports. Ten different sightings."
I keep my lips sealed as I try to figure out if I had somehow unleashed them, but his next words allow me to relax. He sighs and says, "On the way here, we heard about a strange power appearing in this area. We also heard some odd stories of a woman who calls herself a 'witch'. I don't know if she's the cause of all this, but I plan to find out."
I keep a blank look on my face. This just became troublesome.
