Chapter 9 – I will be back

The stench here is unbearable. We thought this place was a sanctuary but it's not. Some day we were also part of these people here, cold and dead.

I wanted a proper burial for Deniesha. I don't want her to rot in this place, my conscience won't let me. So I carried her. Ahead of this dreadful room is a dark tunnel.

Carrying her on my back was hard as not only was she heavy I was also weakened. Both my arms ballooned they were too painful to move. I still pushed myself. This is all I can only do.

Step by step by step even with my shaking knees I still progress. It's a good thing that there was luminous fungus here. They become my guide to not hit any walls.

Yet exhaustion is a parasite slowy eating you till you can't defend against it anymore. The First was one knee fell down, I tried pushing up but my second knee dropped. The sudden loss of balance made me drop flat.

Thud

I lay down while Deniesha was on my back. With my fading consciousness, I saw from a distance a glowing light.

"He's here." The voice said as I completely passed out.

Crack Crack

Sound of the burning flame on wood. Warm heat enveloped the area around it. Hearing voices around me talking, I slowly opened my eyes. Two young boys sat on a log. They seemed to be cooking some meat base on the smell of it burning.

I tried moving my hands but it became so painful. So painful in fact that it woke me up. When I laid my eyes on my arms I saw them swollen that they turned violet.

I move my sight back to the two and they also noticed me moving. It was Marco and Sheen.

"How are you?" Marco asked.

"We are sorry about what happened. We didn't warn you enough it was our fault." Sheen apologized bowing his head towards me.

I slowly sat using my legs and resting both my arms on my lap. Leaning my back on the wall I faced both of them. "It was me who was stubborn and didn't listen. I was thinking that you might be jealous of Deniesha's achievement. But it was actually me who was jealous of you three. It was all my fault. In the end, I killed her myself." I dejectedly replied.

"It's true that it was your fault," Marco said, "But it was also our fault for hiding everything we know from you and her."

Marco continued, "Yes I know how things move here. These corpses, all these children I know what happened to them all. Yet I'm keeping it. It was me that got you in this situation."

"What are you talking about?"

"I died once. I came from lands far away from here. You can say I was reborn inside this new body." Marco revealed.

"Bullshit! Don't make things up, I know it's you who revealed our Breathing technique to Mr. C" I interrupted.

"I am telling the truth. My past name was Ponto Arthurios. I was the second prince of the kingdom of Enla Terra. Our kingdom is one of the sponsors of this entire operation. We are collecting refined foundations and pure souls. Refined foundations were sold to those whose cultivation talents are low, with the refined foundations will help them refine ether breaking through bottlenecks that they're stuck with. Pure souls are the favorite sacrifice of some Evil Gods. The corpses were used to corrupt the World Tree sapling near this ground. Right here are the roots of the World Tree." Marco explained. Sheen also nodded in approval.

"This . . . This . . . " I stuttered, "So we were in the end crops. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha" I laugh hysterically. So our fate was sealed right in the beginning.

Marco waited till I was done laughing. He continued, "Corrupting the World Tree will hinder its growth. With its corruption, it will lean towards the chaos ether. The more chaos ether it consumes the more the World Tree will favor the Chaos realm, reaching its roots towards the abyss. This tunnel is the sign that it started to favor chaos over balance. The World Tree is the bridge of all realms. This bridge makes traveling from realm to realm easier and safe. The first one to step inside our realm the Mas Kosmous will be a big advantage towards the selection of the New Jade King."

"Why would I believe you? If only you shared this all knowledge you know. Deniesha she . . . .she. . ." I stopped. Why I am blaming them? They didn't do anything wrong they even warned me.

"I'm sorry that you have to kill her, but it was the right thing to do." he replied, "She became the subject of the human cauldron, a vicious and forbidden technique that sucks vitality, foundation, latent talent, everything of the victim. I know Mirce practiced the technique of our family. He was one of our butlers, he was sent here for inspection. The bastard came here and took everything from himself."

Marco consoled me, looking at my eyes. His eyes were glaring and burning. He grabbed my shoulder and said, "Don't blame yourself that you killed her. You only ended her misery. If you didn't do it she will become brain dead suffering from unimaginable pain till she dies. Blame Mirce, blame this organization, my kingdom, you can even blame me all you want. If only I reached the golden foundation I could execute the Noise Cancelling Barrier. Then I am confident that they will not eavesdrop on our conversation. I would have explained our circumstances better."

"So you're telling me that they were listening to everyone's conversations? That's why they knew about the Sunflower Breathing technique." I concluded.

"You keep telling us about this technique. What is this technique all about?" Sheen asked.

I started telling them about this technique that I and Deniesha figured out and created. Although, I did nothing but assist her with the mantra letters she mainly did all modifications.

Sheen and Marco asked for a copy of this technique so I showed it to them. It was complete with the mantra and details on how it works. What Deniesha gave Mirce was the improvised Sunflower Breathing technique that she was still working on. The actual copy was with me.

After they saw its contents they were impressed with our technique.

"This is brilliant technique! It's good for building a foundation. With this technique, you can pass 3 tiers without bottlenecks." Marco exclaimed.

"You have given this to Mirce?" Marco asked.

"What Deniesha gave them was an improvised version that sucks a large amount of ether any time of the day without any conditions. But it was still not finished." I replied.

"If what you said is true. Then they will also be researching mantras to fix it. It would be different from what you both aimed but it will still be there at the best techniques. It will take time though." Marco added.

Marco stood up followed by Sheen. Marco reached out a pill and feed it to me. When I swallowed the pill a warm sensation was felt inside my swollen arms. It's not violet anymore. It will slowly heal my arms back to normal even fixing my broken bones.

"Where did you get this miracle pill?" I asked.

"Ahh, that? Mr. Fred gave it to us. He was also the one who asked us to escape here. He also told us how to get away from this land." Sheen answered.

When they said this I wanted to puke but I already swallowed it. "Are you sure it's not poison?"

"Don't worry, I already checked it. He might have given this to us out of conscience with happened to you and Deniesha." Marco said.

I thanked Marco and Sheen for coming here. They carried Deniesha's corpse as we continuously traveled the tunnel.

"Do you want to take revenge, Lorenzo of the Forest?" Marco asked.

I nodded.

"I want to hear your resolution!"

"Yes! I want to torture that bastard. I want him to suffer."

"Then be my aide. I also wanted to kill the one who killed me. We both have our common enemy." Marco said.

"Alright. I'll be one of your henchmen." I replied.

"Good. First, we will travel away from this place. He will train our hardest and come back to this damned place. I'll raze this place to dust" Marco declared.

Yes! Someday I will. I will be back!
