Gabby entered the doors of Med with Brett, rolling a gurney. Jay was sitting on the gurney, hand to his head. The bandages were soaked with blood, some had leaked through his fingers dripping down his forearm. Maggie saw and yelled over her shoulder. "Manning, treatment two. Officer with a head wound. You'll need to tell Halstead and L/N when they're done with their patient." Natalie turned and say Jay, her face paled. She turned and noticed your beginning to walk into the ED. Rhodes who was on the other side noticed Jay's entrance and saw Manning's eyes trail to you. He nodded at the unspoken request and walked over to you quickly, throwing his arm over your shoulder and turning you away back to your patient. You were suspicious but didn't think much of it as you needed his help anyway.
Manning entered the treatment room, she used the hand sanitizer. "What happened?" She asked as she began to inspect his wound. "Well..."
"What happened?" Will asked as he rushed into the room. "I was just about to tell her." Jay gestured to Natalie. "Does Y/N know?" Will asked his brother. "Not yet." Natalie answered, and Jay looked shocked. "She can't know."
"Too little, too late, Halstead." Both men flinched, and Will turned to give Jay a view of the furious nurse that was his girlfriend. "This." You waved your hand at Jay. "This is a whole new level of moronic, even for you." Will gave a soft smile as Natalie turned back to deal with Jay's wound and to access whether he had a concussion. "What happened?" You asked, your voice was glacial. "Lost a fight with plank of wood." Will snorted, "This is not funny." You turned to the ginger haired Halstead, who was now the subject of your fury. He nodded, "I'm going to check on my patient do you want to...?" You shook your head, he walked past you and clapped you on the shoulder. His hand dropped grabbed your squeezing it reassuringly. You squeezed back apologising for your outburst. Thankfully, Will understood that you were just frightened for his darker haired brother.
Jay watched the interaction and noted the pain in your eyes, mad at himself that he had hurt you so much. You moved forwards and slid your hand into Jay's, he tangled your fingers together. He attempted to turn to talk to you, but Natalie moved his head back. "Don't move." Her fingers fluttered along his forehead, checking for more wounds or any bruising. "I'm going to check on your blood work and call our neurologist. Don't go anywhere." She pointed the finger at her troublesome patient. She left the room and you moved to stand in front of him. "Hey." He muttered softly, letting your hand go to pull you between his legs by your hips. "Remind me to kill you later, please." Jay chuckled, "You shouldn't say that to a cop." You smiled and ran your fingers lightly along his forehead following the path Natalie had taken. Jay smiled at you, his blue eyes dancing. His fingers brushed along your forehead before dropping down to your cheek, his usual way of making you smile. You gave him a soft smile, "I love you. You enormously stubborn pain in the ass." He leaned forwards, he kissed your cheeks before tangling his fingers with yours again and bringing them to his lips, so he could leave lingering kisses across your knuckles. "I love you too."
