Once the group of four reached the cafe, they sat down at a table, Maria and Lucian on one side and Shin and Sicily on the other and waited for someone to serve them. After they ordered, Maria spoke, "Thank you for saving us."
Sicily agreed, "Yes... Thank you very much."
Lucian responded, "Honestly guys, it's alright, it wasn't a big deal and I'm sure Shin agrees."
Shin joined in the conversation, "Yeah they weren't that strong if I'm being honest."
Maria seemed slightly annoyed at something, "We wouldn't have been in that much trouble if we could use magic, but the stupid laws mean it's prohibited in civilian areas."
Lucian wanted to ask a question, "Are you guys students at the Magic Academy?"
She replied quickly, "Yes, if we can pass the entrance exams next month. I assume you two are either in the Knights Academy, or doing the entrance exams soon right?"
Lucian and Shin both started laughing, before Shin responded, "No, we're taking the Magic Academy as well."
Lucian replied to Maria as well, "Yeah, hopefully we get in as well." He knew full well that he would be able to get in, yet he did not want to see too arrogant.
Maria was incredibly shocked, "Seriously? You two are adept martial artists as well as wizards?"
Sicily seemed shocked as well, "I was sure you two were students of the Knight's Academy."
Shin responded, "Well, it seems like we're going to be attending the same school, let's work hard."
Maria looked enthusiastic, "I'm serious about passing, I won't lose to either of you!"
Shin laughed, "I'm still a novice, but I'll do my best and I'm sure Lucian will as well."
"Yep, I'm gonna try as hard as possible in the entrance exam."
Sicily also looked happy, "Yeah, let's all do our best!"
Maria turned to Lucian, "What academy are you from, it's weird that I've never seen you around. Especially because of how much you stick out."
Lucian replied with a smile on his face, "This is my first day in the Capital so that's probably why."
A look of understanding swept across Maria's face, "That makes sense! Also, have you heard the big news? People are saying that the Magi and the Guru have returned to the Capital, apparently their grandchildren are planning on attending the Magic Academy! I wonder what they're like, they're probably really strong."
Hearing of this did not surprise Lucian, as he was one of the grandchildren after all. Unlike Shin, who had an uneasy face when Maria said this, Lucian was calm and did not show any signs that could be seen as suspicious.
With his hands on his head, Shin hesitantly asked Maria a question, "Do you like the Magi and the Guru then?"
Maria was first to reply, "Yes, they're my idols! They're the world's strongest to ever live!"
At this point, Shin seemed exhausted from trying to hide the fact that him and Lucian were the grandchildren of Merlin and Melinda. He stood up abruptly, "Sorry, it looks like I have to go." He put the payment for their drinks and spoke to Lucian, "You coming? Gramps and granny are probably expecting us by now."
Lucian nodded and stood up before turning to Maria, "Seems like I've got to go with my brother, it was really nice meeting you. Hopefully I'll see you soon, so good luck with the entrance exam."
Maria replied, "It was really nice meeting you, and good luck to you as well. I'll see you around."
Lucian made his way to Shin, and the two started to walk in the direction of their home and Shin spoke to Lucian, "Bro, I completely forgot to ask for Sicily's contact info."
Lucian laughed a bit at Shin before responding, "It's fine dude, you'll see her at the Magic Academy don't worry. Also, I don't think contact info is really all that accessible here, you know?"
This confused Shin a little, "What do you mean?"
Lucian replied in a joking manner, "Well, it isn't exactly like Earth where you could ask for her phone number or something. Most you could have gotten is an address to send a message by pidgeon to, so don't sweat it so much."
Shin thought for a second and replied, "You make a good point... Wait what! Are you from Earth as well?"
Lucian laughed again, "Yep, probably should have said something sooner, sorry for the long wait."
The reincarnated twins kept walking home while speaking about their lives on Earth and feeling a sense of closeness that could only be shared with someone who had experienced the same thing as you in a place where it was impossible to have experienced that thing.
*Day Of The Entrance Exam*
Lucian and Shin had agreed to stay away from one another during the exams as they did not want to feel pressured by the other's results. However, before that, they still needed to wait for the exams to start and find their venues. Both Lucian and Shin were looking for their names on the sheets of paper that showed the locations for the exams.
As Lucian found the location for his exams first, he left the entrance area and made his way there. He did not want to stick around for the scuffle between Shin and Kurt Von Ritzburg, as him getting involved would slow down the relationship of Shin and Sicily. He also did not see the point in staying to meet August Von Earlshide, as he would be in lesson with him anyway.
Once Lucian arrived at his first exam location, everyone who was there was seated and made to sit in silence for five minutes until everyone had arrived. Once the exam hall was full, it was time for the written exam which consisted of questions on magic theory and general knowledge.
As his specialty was magic, and he had been taught a lot for his entire life in this world, neither of these things were too difficult and he assumed that he would do quite well in this part.
After this was the practical part of the exam, there were five targets on the other side of the room and a magic teacher instructing the candidates, "Demonstrate a magic art that you feel you know best! We have prepared targets on the other side of the room. Destroy it, if you are capable! Even if you can't, you can still pass if we deem your skills acceptable."
She then pointed at a black-haired boy, "You're first."
Lucian was looking forward to seeing magic cast by someone the same age as him in real life to compare himself to them.
The boy stood proudly behind the casting line and started to chant, "Lightning energy that courses through my veins, become one in my presence. Lightning Bolt!!"
A fist sized ball of lightning was sent out at the speed of around thirty miles per hour towards one of the targets. Once it hit the target, the lightning ball dissipated, but not after leaving a burn mark from the small explosion it created.
The spell chant was very over the top and Lucian cringed a bit at it, but he realised that a lot of people need them to use magic, so he did not judge them.
This display was followed by three other candidates, two of which used different forms of water magic with one being a water spear and the other a simple water ball. Neither of these attacks destroyed the targets they hit. The fourth candidate used fire magic in the form of a small pillar of fire coming from the ground and hitting the target. This set the target on fire for a second or two, but it quickly disappeared once the flame pillar did.
The instructor turned to Lucian, "Your turn, and it seems as though you've got a special note, so try not to destroy the training area, alright?"
Lucian walked over to the casting line, and immediately created five, tiny compressed balls of air that were as compact and pressurised as he could get them. The other candidates were surprised by the chant-less magic, but they were not very impressed by the size of Lucian's magic.
He shot all five wind balls out at once, and as soon as they were shot out, a shockwave from the speed was created which shattered all of the windows in the training facility. As soon as the magic attacks hit their respective targets, they made precise holes directly in the centre which did not seem that impressive. However, this soon changed as the back half of the targets were completely blown away as the pressurised and condensed air exploded into five huge bursts of wind which joined together into one. This then ripped the entire back half of the training ground off with ease and continued onwards into the field behind which left a quite deep and very long crater in the ground.
Everyone looked stunned at the scene, especially the instructor who had told him not to destroy the training area, and all that Lucian had to say for himself was not of much help to anyone, "Sorry, maybe I should have toned it down a bit."
The instructor looked mortified, "Y-You may all go now, this is the end of the examination. Good job everyone."
*A Bit Later*
In a room filled with all of the instructors from the exams, they were discussing the results.
"Were the Magi's grandchildren really that strong?"
The woman who had been the instructor for Lucian replied, "I can't speak for both of them, but I know for a fact that Lucian Wolford was able to instantly cast five magic attacks without chanting, and even while holding back he obliterated the majority of the training facility and a lot of the land behind it. Not only the targets, but the building itself, and the surrounding area will need to be fixed because of it."
After this, the tall blonde man who had instructed Shin spoke up, "Shin Wolford had a similar but less extreme scenario as his fire magic destroyed all of the targets and severely burned the inside of the training facility. His magic was also cast without a chant and after only mere moments. However, this was also while holding back."
The man sat at the very head of the table, who seemed to be in charge, spoke next, "Are we even fit to teach them? It seems that they are the ones who should be teaching us."
Lucian's instructor spoke again, "Agreed. His highness the King said that he wanted the twins to attend this school so that they can learn to socialise with others their own age... So, it might be better if we make a new research room and put people in there with them who are also talented. By the way, how are the rankings?"
Another female instructor replied, "We haven't finished grading all of the students but, for the written exam results, both boys got full marks, and based on your explanations of the practical exams they will both score full marks on that as well. However, as he caused more destruction and his casting speed was seemingly faster, it looks as though Lucian will be in first, and Shin will be second."
The man in charge spoke again, "It's decided then, both grandchildren of the Magi will be attending this school."
