Leading a small squad of fully armed guards, Agatha left the forward outpost established by the church's troops. They passed through several barriers temporarily constructed from simple fortifications and firing positions, crossed an intersection lit by gas lamps, and finally arrived at the deepest part of a branching corridor.
The gas lamps embedded in the walls emitted a faint hissing sound, the ancient piping system supplying gas unsteadily, making the light appear somewhat flickering and dim. Under the not-so-bright light, one could see a dark, heavy alloy door standing silently at the end of the corridor.
