Ethera's pov;
I am actually glad Eric invited me to this event , everything is so glamorous. I have never seen such decor before nor seen the type of suits these men are wearing and let me not even get started on the gowns the ladies had on . Beautiful .
I would have gotten someone to do these types of dresses for me back home but I don't think they will be appropriate to the people there and me being basically royalty I don't have the right to dress inconvenient as such attires would be seen as too much and some too vulgar.
When I want to tell Eric more about how amazing the event is , I hear piano being played and I look at the source and find a group of men with instruments some of which I have yet to see but one specific one I like being the piano was being played.
Most of the guests were going towards the dance floor and slow dancing to the beautiful melody.
I turn to Eric and ask "Care for a dance?" I smile trying to convince him.
He looks at me with shock? I guess he doesn't dance much with Avery. Does she not like dance? Maybe just not this type of dance.
But then she did show she had potential in slow dancing when she passed dance class for me back in debutante season . It would confusing if she never showed that to Eric.
"You want to dance? Like these folks?" He asks again shocked.
I nod smiling to assure him I want this. Plus I think he needs this dance to get over the nervousness he has been containing this whole time.
I learnt through Sheila that Eric's parents can be very pressuring to him and expect him to act and be a certain way, of which I see he does not want to be.
"Okay then let's dance" He says taking my hand in his as we move onto the center of the dance floor, under the spotlight.
In the corner of my eye I see his parents staring at us with looks of pride and joy? Did they want him to be with a lady tonight?
It seems to me that they are expecting a lot from him tonight.
I look back at Eric and find him smiling affectionately at me, I do the same , for Avery.
He really has a thing for her. Just look at how he holds me right now and how he tries to make sure I am okay with the people staring and asking if I need to go sit down incase my feet hurt.
Avery and Eric do have a beautiful relationship, I just wish it was her in this moment right now enjoying this instead of me.
It feels wrong to be here in her moment.
"When did you learn this type Avery? You are pretty good at this" Eric asks.
I reply with "You know it's just in the family, had to take dance lessons here and there in my childhood" I figured since Avery is from a prestigious family sh would have been taught this from an early age. My response is pretty believable to me.
Eric just nods in acknowledgment.
By the time the dance is over we are back to our seats and Eric excuses himself as he goes near the stage platform.
His parents are giving a speech as of now, he must be next in line I suppose.
His father goes up to the mic and says "Good evening to all of you. I am honored to have you here attending this event . I hope you are enjoying yourselves so far. This night among others we celebrate our achievements as a company and we set goals for future prospects , tonight we also wish to acknowledge my son Eric and his contribution to the company as minor as it may seem.
This son of ours is truly a talent we cannot do without and I am proud to announce he shall be taking over the company after his graduation this year"
This year? I thought Eric said he would take time off to figure what he wants to do first.
Now it seems his father is not giving him much of a choice.
I look towards Eric and he has a worried face on, this is not looking good for him.
"Ladies and gentlemen, let us welcome my son Eric for a brief speech" he says and we all clap for Eric as he comes up on the pulpit.
Eric steps up and I can see he is having internal turmoil, he is mad at what his dad just announced but he has to hide it from everyone to keep face.
I know that feeling all too well unfortunately.
So once his eyes meet mine I encourage him with a thumbs up and he smiles slightly, at least he feels less pressure now.
"Thank you every one for this opportunity, I happen to know most of you have big expectations of me for the future of our company and I shall do my very best in that. While I am on this stage I would like to call up here someone very special to me who continuously encourages me to take initiatives and to live fully. Avery, could you please join me" he gestures his hand towards me.
I stand up with everyone's eyes pinned on me , I can feel it but I am used to it from living in the palace.
I reach Eric and he helps me up the pulpit and just holds my hand tightly while talking briefly about me well Avery and he says a lot of genuine very heart warming things about her.
I wish again that it was her standing here to witness the love this man visibly has for her.
This makes me miss my king even more.
A few hours later…
The event just ended and Eric is currently at the apartment as they call it here.
We are just chatting and going over the night spent, Sheila is present as well and we are just narrating what happened to her.
Of course there was occasional teasing on her part saying that Eric was too enchanted by Avery.
I just laughed because it was true and he couldn't even hide it if he wanted to.
Eric also talked about how shocked he was that I could dance to slow and more elegant music.
Amongst other things as well.
It seems I have created some confusion with my behavior, I really tried my best to fit into Avery's character but it seemed harder than I expected.
Avery is a lot more free , fun and spontaneous while I am very calm , grounded , serious and just rule abiding.
I really have to do better, Avery has done so much for me and so I need to keep her relationships intact and guarded as much as possible.
I have to replace her well and take care of the people she loves.
If that means letting loose a bit , I will do just that.
I hope Avery is having an easier time adjusting to her full time acting as me.
I really do miss being able to talk to her, I hope she can find a way around this soon.
