Avery's pov :
My head is about to explode , the loud music we were playing last night has given me a terrible migraine but at least I am not hangover.
I Can't say the same for Sheila , she has been gulping litters of water since early morning in the kitchen.
I am making her some chicken soup to hopefully get her back on track.
"You are a life saver Avery , did you know that?" Sheila says while pouting at me with her glass of water in her hands.
I nod "I know that . This is kind of rare honestly, you are usually the responsible one here , always taking care of me like your little sister and scolding me like a second mother and even though sometimes it pisses me off , i see how genuine you are about me so I don't mind returning the favor time to time when you need it"
"Aww , my baby . Don't say such things I am going to cry" she wipes her imaginary tears and comes give me a big hug , which I return with pleasure.
"Now I am the one who needs to be responsible and bold to face Eric after what he saw last night." I sigh and put my hands on my face in despair.
"Don't be dramatic Avery , he probably found it fun and plus you guys have been flirting for some time now so what is so embarrassing in this?" She asks as she drinks her soup. If she wasn't hangover I would pour that soup on her for asking such a dumb question. I roll my eyes.
"Sheila first of all we have not been flirting and secondly if we were that would make this even more embarrassing because he would have seen a side of me he didn't have to at this stage." I grunt
"Now he must think I am seducing him which is not that at all" the alcohol yesterday really made me bolder than usual.
"There there, don't stress over it . What happened happened and you can't go back so might as well go back to the confident Avery I know and just face whatever he will think." Right I have to get myself together , it's not gonna be awkward between us right? Oh lord.
"He is picking you up today right? Actually in a few minutes . Finish getting ready so you two can talk and you can still arrive early to class." Sheila tells me as she presses me.
"Sure , yes mam" I say teasing her, she sticks her tongue out at me. Childish.
Let me text Eric to see if he is still picking me up.
Me : Yo, are you still pulling up at the apartment?
Eric : Yes of course , I wouldn't want to be on your bad side, love😂.
Me : You are starting to make it sound like I threatened you to do so. May I remind you , you are the one who decided to drop me to campus every single day ^^.
Eric : How could I forget such a vow I made. I am quite a responsible young man you know.
Me : Yeah yeah sure😂, anyways hurry up I am done getting ready😂don't be late , dear chauffeur 😂.
Eric : My dear Avery , you are dragging it , don't you think 😂
Me : No😂 , see you later.

I finish getting ready and bid good bye to Sheila who will be staying in for today.
I ran downstairs and as usual Eric is parked right in front of the building. Show off.
"Hey you" he greets as I hug him.
"Hello to you too. Why do you always park in front of the building? Want to catch the eye of the ladies living here?" I jokingly ask
"Of course not, the only girl I need attention from is you love" he says and smirks at me, I roll my eyes at him, a habit I got from Sheila.
"That's a nice necklace you have there" Eric points out as he looks at my amulet. The one I share with Ethera.
"Oh yeah it's really pretty huh?" He nods and continues to look at it, normally it's not that visible because I wear it inside my tops but I guess he sees it quite often as we hang out a lot.
"Is there a significance to it? Because I always see you wearing it" he asks
"Um it is a family heirloom , we all wear it . It's from my great great grandma" I tell him, I'll just have to go with that excuse for now.
"Can I take a closer look? It's just very detailed and intricate. Of course if you don't mind" I nod and hand him the amulet.
He looks at it while I step away to put my bag in the backseat of the car , when suddenly someone on a bike passes by quickly and I almost loose my balance , immediately Eric tries running after him but I don't know why until I hear him scream.
"Thief , thief . Catch him. Come back you bastard!" Eric yells as he runs after the bike in vain as he quickly disappears.
Eric comes back to me with a dull face. And I quickly look at him and in his hands I see no sign of my amulet , I look at him once more but he doesn't dare look me in the eyes.
"Eric what did that guy steal?" I ask trying to be calm.
"Avery I promise we will find him , I'll take care of it" he tries calming me.
"Eric , I am going to ask one more time. What did he take?"
He sighs "He took your necklace" oh no , oh no no no , this is bad , very bad.
I start panicking "This can't happen"
"He came from nowhere and took it from my hands , I am so sorry Avery. I should have been more vigilant. I'll buy you an identical one if we don't find it" he tries to comfort me but he doesn't understand the crisis this is putting me in.
"No Eric it can't just be replaced, I am screwed" he apologizes more and we decide to go back inside the apartment to call the police because I am not going anywhere without fixing this issue. How will I go to Alba without it?
We enter the apartment and Sheila gets up from the couch to see who it is.
"Avery? Didn't you just go out? Why are you back already? And Eric is here too? What's going on?" She ask and Eric greets her and also explains what happened.
"How could this happen? And since when do you have a family heirloom? I didn't know of this ." It's true that she doesn't know any of it, she never really asked why I would wear the necklace all the time so I get why she is confused.
"Well I did have a family heirloom, it is the other necklace I wear all the time, I got it for my 21st birthday as tradition in the family . The subject came up so I never told you. Right now this is not important. I need to get it back" I explain to the both of them and Eric apologizes once again.
Helga pov ;
The boy I sent to retrieve Avery's necklace came back an hour later.
"Here it is" he says as he passes me the amulet. And I give him his money as he drives away.
You may be asking yourself why I want this necklace.
Well it's not just a regular necklace, I've been seeing my cousin wear it all the time and she always seems aware of it which made me curious and when I told my grandma about it once randomly , she told me she wanted to see a picture so I payed someone to stalk Avery and take some pictures , I then showed some close ups to my grandma and she told me it looked like an ancient magical amulet she once saw a long time ago.
She didn't say anything more but I am curious and want to know what is with it.
Now we will see what my dear cousin has been up to. *dark chuckle.
