Orla was really looking forward to the study session they had planned at Seto Taisho. She quickly took a shower and got ready to go. She went downstairs to tell Oistin she was going out.
"Orla you're here! Meet my girlfriend, Valerie.", mumbled Oistin, clearly drunk.
"Hello Orla, how are you doing?", Valerie asked.
"She still weeps about her dead mother. It's been ten years! Get over it!", said Oistin, clear disgust in his tone.
"Oistin! Stop being so insensitive towards your sister!", shrieked Valerie.
"She's a whore!", Oistin hissed.
"Don't you dare speak lowly of our mother! You've been consumed with grief and this is how you cope with it?", screamed Orla.
"YOUR mother was a terrible person", maffled Oistin.
"NO!" Orla shouted.
"SHE DID NOT LIVE LONG ENOUGH FOR YOU TO SEE HOW SHE REALLY WAS! YOU DID NOT HAVE TO FACE HER CRUELTY! I DID! SO DON'T YOU ACT AS IF YOU KNOW HER SO WELL!", roared Oistin.
"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!", Orla wept.
How could her brother talk about their deceased mother like that? She has never witnessed him talk like that before. He always understood her pain. How could he invalidate her feelings like that? It was almost as if he did not feel bad about their parents' death. Orla could sense an incoming flashback. She was feeling very helpless. Those merciless words of her brother have gotten into her head and triggered her. She couldn't stop crying, she couldn't breathe. She just kept on running to wherever her eyes led to. She wanted to get rid of her pain, even death was better than experiencing that horrid sight again.
"Is Orla not going to come?", thought Sydney as she blew up her phone.
Sydney studied alone at Seto Taisho and left for home. On the other hand, Alistair had a blast with his friends from MMA at the cyber cafe. Just as they were about to leave for home Alistair spotted Orla in the middle of the street.
"Is that Orla? Why is she crying and running like a maniac?", Alistair thought.
"Or-", Alistair stopped before he could call her and thought,"She must be embarrassed if she gets to know I saw this. I'll just silently follow her."
Alistair watched Orla as she ran. "Is this too stocker-ish? I'll just make sure she's okay. Nothing creepy about that.", he thought.
He watched her as she sat alone beside the river, still crying her heart out. Watching her cry was painful for Alistair. He really wanted to cheer her up.
"Hey Ron, wanna play badminton at the club by the river?", asked Alistair over the phone.
"Sure bro. Is Syd coming?", asked Ronan.
"Pick her up on the way here.", he suggested.
While playing badminton Alistair intentionally shot the shuttlecock outside the boundary at the bank of the river, nearer to where Orla was sitting. They all went to collect the shuttlecock together.
"Hey, Orla! What are you doing here? Why didn't you come to the study-sesh? You could have picked up your phone or at least call me. Why are your eyes so swollen? Did you cry?", said Sydney, worry in her voice.
"Leave it. Orla do you wanna play badminton with us?", Alistair asked, happy to see she had finally stopped crying.
Orla couldn't refuse. They all played badminton together. As they were playing badminton, Orla's sadness subsided. She was happy to be able to be friends with such wonderful people. Some places were beautiful, and some people made the place beautiful. Her friends seemed to make every place beautiful, every place her happy place.
"It's 8 p.m already. Wanna have dinner together?" Ronan proposed.
"Yeah let's have dinner together.", demanded Sydney.
"Okay lessgoooooooo!", Alistair suggested.
"Yaaaaasssss!!!", Orla chuckled.
"The chicken here is so good.", Alistair praised.
"Yeah, I love the Lo Mein as well!", Ronan commented.
"But Orla did something happen? You didn't come to Seto Taisho earlier and it looked like you were crying."
"My brother is just a real bitch sometimes. I'll tell you later." Orla replied.
"Okay. I'm always here for you if you need to rant okay?", Sydney assured.
"Syd she ain't gonna tell you shit this is the first time she met you at school. What do you expect how can she get so close to you in a few hours, let alone trust you with details about her private life? Chill she's gonna open up in her own time.", said Ronan.
"Alright, you don't have to tell me that. Not like I'm forcing her to tell me. I'm just letting her know I care. So shut up.", Sydney argued.
"Stop you two. I appreciate your interest Sydney. I really enjoy being with y'all even though I don't even know you that well. Is that weird?", Orla said.
"No bro that's nice, I enjoy being with you too!", Alistair said. "We're friends after all. I'm always here when you need me."
"Orla! What do you think you're doing staying out this late at night?", said Oistin and immediately fell to the ground and passed out. Orla ran to her room and locked herself in. Her despicable self was about to come out as she fell asleep, and she didn't want to let her out into the world, even though she knew it did.
Just got to know that I am not even eligible for the competition until I write at least 100,000 words. So I need to update quickly. I was thinking three times a day. Please support this novel. Add this to your library and comment.
