Chương 11: Chapter 11:Sneaky snake attack
Rowan was casually splashing away in the pool and humming away. He has noticed a demon beast at the bottom of the pool but it wasn't attacking. It looked as if it was either dead or just asleep. Unfortunately, someone already knows it is not.
'It is waiting for something to happen,' Steve said in Rowan's mind. 'Yeah, but the question is what,' Rowan replied. He waited for a while longer as he made as much noise as possible. The demon beast kept to itself though, so Rowan decided to leave it alone.
He got out of the pool but as he got out, the demon beast suddenly moved. It grabbed onto Rowan's leg with it's tail before lifting him and slamming him into the ground. The demon beast left the pool revealing a huge snake.
Rowan's body suddenly turned into a puff of smoke before revealing a big piece of wood. The snake looked at the place of wood and then it's surroundings. It looked into the air as if smelling the air before lashing out at a bush not far from it.
Rowan jumped from the bush and looked at the huge snake before him. He already knew the drill so he body flickered next to the snake and slashed at it's neck. In his eyes, the blade of the Kusanagi Sword slices through the snake but it was just an afterimage that was sliced.
The tail smashed into Rowan which sent him flying into the distance. Luckily, he managed to make a chakra barrier on his skin before the hit landed but it still packed a punch. The snake looked at Rowan before making it's move again.
It was the first time for Rowan to see such a fast creature and it freaked him out. He flickered away just to find the snake moving in his direction. He kept flickering around the snake but each time it got closer until eventually, he got slapped in the face with the tail.
The slap sent Rowan flying towards the pool. He rolled on the water and formed chakra on his feet before standing on the water. He knew that fighting on the water would be dangerous so he flickered back to the shore.
Unfortunately, the snake anticipated this and before Rowan could react, he got smashed over the pool and into a nearby tree. He didn't manage to put up a chakra barrier so that hit was a clean shot on his body.
Rowan tried getting up but he could barely move his fingers. He looked at the snake slithering towards him. Blood suddenly flowed into his eyes, he must have hit his head hard. Rowan closed his eyes. He knew that his death was inevitable. A flashback played through his head.
"I've worked so hard to get here. Pushing myself till it hurt. Training alone for hours, anything to get stronger, to reach my dreams. I will never back down again and let someone else rescue me. Upon these wounds, I make this pledge believe it," Rowan muttered as he looked at the flashback.
Rowan opened his eyes again and saw the snake's tail coming towards him. He got up and body flickered away. He flickered a good distance away. He placed his hands together and used the shadowclone jutsu. Ten clones appeared and each one of them had a sword.
Rowan looked towards the snake and used the technique that he should've used in the first place. Demon Illusion Shackling Stakes. The snake stood paralyzed on the spot. The clones ran closer to the snake before using their own techniques.
"Crescent Moon Slash Barrage!" the clones screamed as ten crescent moon projectiles left their swords. These projectiles cut cleanly through the snake's body. It wriggled violently before being consumed by death.
The clones turned into puffs of smoke and Rowan collapsed on the floor. Looking at his dirty body, he knew he had to take another splash. Before that though, he had to take out the snake's crystal. Rowan carved a hole in the snake's head.
Baffled, he stared at the empty head. The snake wasn't a demon beast. Thinking back at the strength the snake possessed, he couldn't believe it. Naturally snakes don't attack people unless they're backed up into a corner…or protecting something.
Rowan went to the pool and jumped in. He swam down until he saw a small cave at the side of the pool. He dove into it and resurfaced in a small cave. He saw a nest on the shore of said cave and in it was two small eggs.
Excited, Rowan grabbed the eggs and then he flinched. In front of him was a ninja pouch. He grabbed it and placed it in his mouth. He took an egg with each hand and dived back into the water and left the cave.
Rowan took another wash and went back to the campsite with the eggs. Jayden was killing two demon beasts that looked like wolves. Smelling the delicious smell that came from the fire, he knew exactly why they would appear.
Jayden looked at the eggs with drool coming from the helmet that was back on her head. Rowan glared at her which caused her to look away. She went for a wash to as Rowan was left to take care of the camp.
Rowan took this time to look at the spoils of his little adventure. The pouch contained paper bombs. There was fifty paper bombs in total. He placed the pouch in the small house of sticks that he made. He placed the eggs near the fire to keep them warm.
'Dragon eggs need to be kept in a damp place,' Steve said which made Rowan almost shout out with excitement. He took the eggs away from the fire and put them next to him. Jayden came back and they finally ate. Rowan offered to stay awake for the first half for the night and Jayden went to sleep.
Rowan looked at the guy that slept with his whole suit of armour on. He smiled, created a shadowclone to keep watch before he began refining chakra.
