Chương 82: His People
By the time Zhao Xing arrived the Manor it was way past lunchtime. But she had already eating in the palace, and so she was planning, if Zhang Zhengyang had returned home, then she would vent her frustrations on him. If he wasn't, she'd take a nap, refresh herself and get ready for war, but when she got off the carriage she would never imagine who was waiting for her.
"Zhao Xing" Tang Rongyi stood at the entrance of the manor grinning from ear to ear, like a little child, she also wore bright red clothes again that day with her hair held high up in a ponytail, she waved her hands at Zhao Xing.
When she turned to the person next to her, it turned out to be the unreliable man surnamed Zhang along with his accomplice Xiao Chen. When Zhao Xing eyes met his she glared at him. He was the reason behind all her problems!
She felt that Zhang Zhengyang's luck was very good, he even managed to escape her clutches, heavens had helped him by bringing Tang Rongyi today. But there was no problem, she still had a few days more to spend in the Crown Prince's manor before moving to hers. Before then she'd take her time and slowly teach him the lesson of his life!
She then walked up to Tang Rongyi smilingly without saying a word to Zhang Zhengyang, as if he was invisible. "Sister Yi, what brings you here?"
Tang Rongyi didn't seem to notice this and held onto Zhao Xing's arm. "Aiya don't call me 'sister yi' anymore, everybody calls me that."
"…Then, how about I call you Tang Tang instead?" She proposed.
Tang Rongyi liked the Idea and nodded.
"Then Tang Tang, let's not stay outside, let's go in."
Tang Tang still didn't notice anything wrong and turned to Zhang Zhengyang and said, "Brother Yang, I'll be with Zhao Xing." Before leaving.
Meanwhile Zhang Zhengyang who had been completely ignored by his 'benefactor' could only stand and watch as she walked away.
Nuo Nuo who had been behind Zhao Xing had cold sweat soaking her hands, but she quickly walked up to the Crown Prince and greeted.
"Master."
Zhang Zhengyang nodded, "Tell me what happened."
Zhao Xing seemed to be happily discussing with Tang Rongyi to notice that her maid had been captured by the Crown Prince.
Nuo Nuo could only sigh at her misfortune.
"Reporting to master, Empress Dowager suddenly summoned the Grand Tutor to the palace, Empress Dowager doesn't seem to like Grand Tutor very much and kept mentioning the late empress…she said that if Grand Tutor didn't improve, she wasn't qualified to be a Noble Princess, and she would have a word with the Emperor to strip her of her rank..."
Zhang Zhengyang chuckled.
The last time she had come to see the Empress Dowager, she had asked him if he had met a beauty on his way back. At that time he didn't understand why she had said so. But now it was clear.
He turned to Nuo Nuo and gestured for her to leave.
"Master, it seems the Empress has misunderstood." Xiao Chen remarked.
"It's ok if she misunderstands, it only creates a stronger protection for the Grand Tutor." Zhang Zhengyang said with a smile.
Xiao Chen's brows creased. "Master, don't you think, if Empress Dowager misunderstand, then a lot of people would also see it the same way? Isn't it dangerous for the Grand Tutor?"
Zhang Zhengyang turned to him. "No one knows who the Grand Tutor is, if someone were to find out, do you know how disastrous it would be?"
Xiao Chen nodded in realization.
If people misunderstood that he had fallen in love with a beauty, then everything would make sense. The mass already doubt whether or not this woman saved the Crown Prince's life. But since the Crown Prince had said it himself, and they were well aware of the injury she had sustained, then they could only speculate, if he paid so much attention to her that he liked her.
Then no one would be suspicious of her, or even bother to check her background. They would just know her as the woman that the Crown Prince liked. He was already out of favor, if he did any silly thing, at most he'd just lose more supporters.
Coming to this point, Xiao Chen looked at his master, "Master, aren't you worried that your people would begin to doubt you?"
Zhang ZHengyang played with the ring on his finger, "Xiao Chen, do you doubt me?"
Xiao Chen immediately stood straight. "I have given my life to master, I would never doubt you, I'm just worried…"
Zhang Zhengyang didn't let him continue "Since you don't doubt me, then my people won't, no?"
Xiao Chen wasn't talking about himself nor the ones that worked under the Crown Prince, but those old men in the court. He sighed inwardly.
"You all are my people, I can't build anything on those who are easily swayed by the wind."
Xiao Chen was touched by what his master said. "Master don't worry, even if everyone leaves you, this one would never do so."
Hearing this Zhang Zhengyang looked at him with a frown, "Xiao Chen."
"Master?"
"Don't say such mushy words again."
Xiao Chen: "...?"
'Were they mushy?' He was actually very sincere...
