"Zhao Xing!" Xiao Qi spoke up. How could they let outsiders know about the great plan of their master easily?
"…!!" The old man's brows raised in surprise. But he didn't ask any further.
Zhao Xing looked at Xiao Qi and smiled goofily. The mission this time was accomplished and they could now go and meet up with the Crown Prince. She was feeling happy about it.
"Say Old Man Su, how potent is this poison you gave me?" The pain made her dizzy.
The old man scoffed, "It is indeed very deadly, you'll have to suffer every now and then, so bear with it, just take it as punishment for even thinking about such a plan to harm this old man's granddaughter. If I can't even protect Xi Xi then how can I call myself her grandfather?"
Zhao Xing laughed weakly as she sprawled on the table, looking pale, scaring both Xiao Qi and Brother Mo. Her laughed like it was really funny, and it just made them feel worst.
Xiao Qi turned to Old Man Su once again to plead, but Zhao Xing beat her to it.
"How did you even poison me?" She asked, looking very curious.
"You're living in my inn, should it be that hard to get you poisoned."
"Tch, if it were in my world I could get you sued!" She retorted, but of course the old man didn't understand. Zhao Xing sighed.
"How long do I have to live?" She asked the most pressing question.
"Three months at most." Everyone gaped at the answer, not like they expected better, but still.
"But don't worry, I'll have you drink remedy every day to alleviate the symptoms."
At the mention of remedy, Zhao Xing's face changed, it was as if all that was said up till now didn't matter to her as much as this one. She struggled to raise her head to look at him expectantly, "Will it be bitter?"
The Old Man laughed, "When remedy starts to taste sweet, I'll let you know don't worry."
Hearing this Zhao Xing pouted, she suddenly found this old man very annoying.
Xiao Qi who had wanted to plead on her behalf was silenced. In her heart though, she was secretly happy that Zhao Xing could pay for being stupid. She had to make sure the girl didn't do anything stupid in the future, if not it would be bad for her. No, she hoped she'd never have to work alongside her ever again.
Well everything was settled, they prepared to leave in two days.
By the time they returned to the inn it was already very late, though the streets still had people walking around, it was much less than before. Everything seemed to be back to normal. The guests were awake, and it seemed they had no idea what happened earlier. The receptionist had long been released and had been put to sleep. From the looks of it, he probably wouldn't be able to distinguish whether what he had seen was a dream or not. Well, with the absence of Xi Xi, it might only a matter of time before he discovers something fishy was going on.
As for the poisoned Zhao Xing was feeling dull these days they prepared to leave, and she'd have serious pains around her abdomen. And she couldn't eat much either because she lacked the appetite to do so. It was really hell.
No matter what, the poison master refused to cure her, she herself also refused to be cured.
"Sister Qi should we look for someone who can give her an antidote?" Brother Mo asked Xiao Qi. The other party glared at him.
"Now you know to call me Sister Qi, see what you dragged us into! Antidote? Ha! Didn't you hear the poison master telling us only he had the antidote in this world?"
Zhao Xing had been listening to them, but had no energy to join in the discussion.
Brother Mo kept quiet. He had only wanted to help Zhao Xing that time with the plan. He didn't think he did anything wrong. They just had different views that was all.
He looked at Zhao Xing as she lay her head on the table in her room. One could tell she was suffering. She stared listlessly at him.
"Xing Xing, don't worry, older brother will take care of you." He said encouragingly.
Zhao Xing frowned, "Yeesh, get outta here! Being so mushy. I'm tired I won't talk with you."
He only had good intentions…
He sighed thinking he shouldn't anger her and walked away.
When he left she was alone in the room, she got up and walked to her bed. Old Man Su hadn't delivered the medicine yet. Old Man Su was really angry about the incident, even though he knew they were unlikely to harm Xi Xi, he was still going to punish her for even thinking about such an idea. Of course he didn't believe Xiao Qi did it, and so she was the one to suffer.
'Three months to live...' She rolled in bed. When the old man had told her this, she hadn't felt a thing, she thought awaiting one's death would be scary, but at the moment she didn't feel scared at all. Right now all she worried about was the pain and uneasiness she felt and also returning back to the Crown Prince's side.
These days no visions were seen, she speculated that it had something to do with the Crown Prince. Now that she thought about this, she also wondered if her inability to return to her world was also related to the Crown Prince. Before she had thought it was because she had to accomplish her mission of protecting the Crown Prince. The first time she didn't return to her world was when she had been sick. She spend a week plus here. But during this journey, she wasn't able to go back, and she had been in good health, so this could be the only reason.
She thought about the midterm exams she had to take when she returned and sighed. Maybe she should have brought her books, if she could study while in this world she would have much more time than when she was in her world, since she can't go back right now. If others had two weeks, she could have a month or two, at least until she was done with this mission.
