Chương 43: "Not Good, we lost her!"
Zhao Xing looked at Xiao Qi.
"Hey, let's take Xi Xi out."
Xiao Qi looked at her then at the little ball wrapped in her grandfather's arms, and made a face. She didn't really like kids. She didn't want to go, she had other problems she needed to attend to while she was here.
But Zhao Xing gave her a warning look, then turned to the Inn Owner, "Don't worry, we'll all be going out together, surely nothing bad would happen."
The Inn Owner seemed to longer be as worried, and put Xi Xi down.
"Xi Xi, greet big brother." Though he knew the gender of the other party, he didn't want to interfere in other people's affairs.
Xi Xi looked up at Zhao Xing with her big sparling eyes, as clear as the sky on a nice summer day, and greeted. "Big brother." Her sweet voice echoed in the ears of the four.
Zhao Xing couldn't help but laugh. She thought the little girl was extremely sweet and cute. She really wanted to pinch those plumb cheeks of hers.
"Xi Xi, let's go out and play, but you have to behave ok?" She said with a smile.
The child nodded. "Xi Xi promises to behave."
Zhao Xing felt she had enough sweets for that day. If she had anymore she was at risk of getting sick. "Xi Xi is such a good girl!"
'Idiot.' From the side, Xiao Qi watched Zhao Xing with a frown. She thought this girl really acted stupidly sometimes.
Zhao Xing took Xi Xi, and dragged the rest along with her. Brother Mo seemed to be fine with it, but Xiao Qi wasn't and it was all over her face.
Zhao Xing was happy to be out, during the time they were travelling with the Crown Prince, Zhang Zhengyang had been kepping a close eye on her, and she wasn't allowed to venture around much, when they did arrive there were too many eyes on them. Their journey here was no different since they had few stops, as they had been in a hurry.
Now she finally had the time to enjoy herself. She went around, from street to street, shop to shop. Xiao Qi was paying, so she could really do whatever she wanted. She finally had the ability to experience what it meant to be rich.
She got Xi Xi some new cloths. Whatever the girl wanted she bought it, she didn't care, wasn't it part of the plan?
Xiao Qi although annoyed, paid for whatever it was that Zhao Xing bought. And just went along with everything. She wondered why she didn't get any news on this granddaughter being found. And was in deep thought, so didn't have much time to bother with her.
"Eh, didn't you guys say that you haven't found the girl that person was looking for? How come she suddenly appeared?" Zhao Xing asked as they walked through the streets. Xi Xi was with Brother Mo ahead of them. The man didn't seem to be bothered with keeping the little child company. He carried her on his shoulder, they both chatted and laughed together.
"How am I supposed to know?" She retorted, annoyed, she said it like this but she couldn't help but think it was strange.
Zhao Xing made a face and rolled her eyes. 'Whatever'
"Now what are we going to do? Wasn't the plan to help find the girl, then ask the poison master to help us in return?"
Xiao Qi knew this. It would just mean they had to figure another way to convince him.
"Not good…" As they were still trying to figure out what to do. Brother Mo came running their way catching their attention.
"What is it this time?" Xiao Qi responded with a frown.
Zhao Xing looked at him, and realized something was wrong. "Where's Xi Xi?" She asked, as she had a foreboding feeling.
Brother Mo seemed a little embarrassed, as he opened his mouth to explain, "…She…she asked for me to let her down. I let her down and…" He had never been given the task to take care of children before. It was his first time. Now he screwed up, he didn't know what to do and panicked.
The two women didn't have time to hear his explanation.
"Damn it." Xiao Qi said in low voice, as she sighed, she then pushed him aside and rushed passed him. Brother Mo followed along to look as well as Zhao Xing. She felt her scalp numb at the thought that they had lost someone's child.
"Where did you last see her?" Zhao Xing asked anxiously.
"I just put her down over there where we stood…she wanted to eat some candy. I was going to pay and reached for my bag, but when I turned around she was out of sight."
"Aiya, Big Brother Mo how could you be so careless." She slapped his arm lightly, as she took into consideration that they didn't know each other well, if not, such a light slap wouldn't be able to let her vent.
Brother Mo was also anxious and didn't mind what people did to him in such a situation. Especially when it was his fault.
The three went around the streets, looking for the child that had gone missing. They asked those passing by, people selling, anyone they came across, trying to describe the child's looks, or get information on where she would have run off to.
As they went on with their search Brother Mo seemed to get more anxious and couldn't help but suggest, "Should we go back and report this to her grandfather…"
The two immediately cast a glare his way, making him keep quiet.
"Let's split up." Xiao Qi suggested. "You and Brother Mo, you guys go over there, also check if she hasn't returned to the inn. If you return and the Inn Owner asks tell him she's with me."
Zhao Xing also thought it was a good idea. "Alright" She turned to Brother Mo, "Let's go." The later followed her. They went on their way.
Xiao Qi was just about to also leave, but someone appeared before her suddenly.
