“Time to go,” Cas sighed, grabbing Mingan’s arm.
She yelped when he yanked her right out of the door and broke into a run. There were terrified shrieks as they barreled down the street with hostile shouting not far behind. Were they getting those torches and swords?
The two guards Cas had also befriended were still at the entrance gate, bravely putting themselves in their path as if they hoped to stop them. But Mingan already ripped into her wolf form and put on a burst of speed to leap right over their heads and land a few feet ahead. Cas swore under his breath and prepared to do the same.
He made the mistake of looking back when his name was called. Freya was running alongside the furious mob of men thankfully not wielding torches. Because of her quick attachment to him, he thought she would say something that wasn’t,
“F*ck you, monster!”
