Chương 12: Two hours before battle
*Two hours ago*
As Loki continued practicing fire control, his brother started knocking at the door.
"Huh?" Loki wondered what Darvin wanted.
When it opened, Darvin barged in, with the twins following behind him. Loki looked up from his training and turned to face them. Each of them was carrying items. Loki recognized the things from his counterpart's memories. Jasmine had a small storage bag, which was a big luxury even in this magical world. Sam carried an enchanted dagger that was engraved with runes. And Darvin carried three different colored potions: one resembled the blood of the gargoyle, a low-level monster, a blue potion that could recover mana, and a green one with a power that removed curse effects.
"Surprise!" the three of them shouted, leaving Loki confused.
"What?" Loki asked, dumbfounded. "What's going on?"
"Darvin mentioned to us today is your birthday!" Said Sam.
"So Sam and I decided to give you gifts as well!" Jasmine blushed a little.
"Since you and these two became pretty close these days, I decided to tell them to join us," Darvin explained while rubbing the back of his neck. He noticed that Loki was looking at them with wide eyes. "Are you okay?"
"Wait, Today it's my nineteenth birthday?" Loki tilted his head slightly.
"Yeah, dude, it's your birthday," Darvin replied. "
Loki just stood there with a blank expression. He didn't know how to react. Today is the day the hero is getting reincarnated. That means... Today is the day Loki's life is going to hell! "Sara will find Jared and convince him to help destroy me! Wait, what if Jared is like me? What if he is reincarnated after reading the novel and knows the future as well?" Loki panicked as he continued thinking the worst. But he looked at Sam and Jasmine and smiled. "Wait, I can confront him myself. Or, what if I send one of the strongest antagonists he would have to face if this was the novel?"
Loki then smirked and gazed at Darvin. "Darvin, could you leave the three of us for a few minutes? I need to talk to Jasmine and Sam for a few minutes."
"Huh? About what?" Darvin asked confusedly.
"Please?" Loki asked again. He didn't want to explain the whole situation in front of Darvin because he wasn't sure if Darvin would continue to accept him as his brother if he suddenly discovered that his brother had a completely different soul.
"Alright." Darvin nodded and left the room. He went to the kitchen to get himself some snacks while they were talking.
Loki's question left Sam and Jasmine confused, but they understood. It was probably the time to start planning to take over the city. A few seconds later, Loki spoke.
"Have you ever heard of reincarnations? Or transferred people from a different world?
"Ah, yes! I heard a myth about it." Jasmine answered despite being startled by the question.
"What about that silly myth?" Sam raised his eyebrows.
"Sam, that silly myth is standing in front of you," Loki exclaimed. "I was transferred here from another world."
"What?!" Sam and Jasmine said simultaneously, surprised.
After Loki explained everything, they understood. He explained about his situation with Loki, how he was about to fight a hero, and even about the novel. What's more, Loki asked Sam to talk to him in private, explaining the tragedy that was supposed to accrue in a few years. Listening to Loki, Sam began to feel nervous. He clenched his fists and gazed at Jasmine. She was all he had, and knowing what was supposed to happen to her, made him feel anxious.
"It is up to you if you believe me or not."
"I doubt you have a reason to lie to me. And I saw your power..." Sam replied. "Your power is something that defies the laws of this world."
"True." Loki smiled as he already knew the power's origin. "It's indeed out of this world."
Jasmine was standing outside the room, and Loki was whispering so she wouldn't hear it if she decided to peek. After she was called into the room, she noticed her brother's sad gaze.
"Hey, hey..." Jasmine reached for his hand and gave it a comforting squeeze. "We'll figure it out together, alright?"
Sam took a deep breath to calm himself down. "Yeah, together..."
Then Loki explained the plan. "We're going to confront him. But first..." He took his gaze at Jasmine. "You will show me how you use illusion powers."
"Uh... Okay!" Jasmine agreed eagerly.
"Good. In the meantime, Sam," Loki turned to Sam. "You will confront the hero garbage."
"Understood." Sam nodded firmly.
"What? No! Loki, you can't make my brother fight a hero alone!" Jasmine panicked. "I will go as well!"
"He is being reincarnated to this world today," Loki assured Jasmine. "He will barely have two powers at most, and I doubt Sara will be much of help for him against your brother."
"But-"
"It is okay, Jasmine. I can do this." Sam smiled reassuringly.
"I hope so..." Jasmine bit her lip worriedly.
Sam hugged her but regretted it. Since he couldn't let go of her. He felt as if she would disappear if he would release her. But after Loki tapped his shoulder, he let go of her. Jasmine felt confused, but she saw that Sam needed this hug, so she allowed him to hug her.
"Alright, I am going." Sam nodded firmly once. "See you guys soon."
Loki told them everything that Sam needed to know about the hero. He even told him what the hero might say in some situations, as he knew the hero might use some cliché lines.
At the same time, Loki asked her to show him illusion abilities. He activated his eye of chaos and began watching and learning which mana snowflakes he would need to manipulate and how to manipulate them.
*Now*
During a fight with a hero, Sam was getting excited and felt a bloodlust. He knew that Loki wasn't lying. Jasmine had telepathic abilities, so she told about Loki on the first day. They were surprised indeed, however, not because of who Loki was. They were not expecting Loki to tell the truth about himself. So Sam, after Loki added the part about his sister's death and how he will be defeated by a random womanizing jerk who allowed Sara to brainwash another girl and add them into his harem, he felt disgusted. He felt embarrassed that this could have been his future, so he wanted to kill Jared before anything like that could happen. But as he continued his barrage of attacks, Clara cursed Jared. But soon noticed a familiar person, it was Loki. He flew towards him and greeted him.
"Hey, Loki, want to join the fun?"
