We ask the woman if she comes from a family of professionals, and she answers...
"Yes. I come from a family of engineers. They'll really blow their tops at me once they learn I broke their streak."
Naturally, our impulsive answer is "Stop pitying yourself", but she'll most likely counter with "Don't you know how everyone will laugh at me for this?!"
She feels she is utterly powerless to do anything.
She can re-take the exams, and she'll just fail every time because of that weight being put on her.
We then tell her instead…
"Engineering is now a broad body of knowledge due to all those emerging technologies. Maybe… you can try software engineering instead?"
She entertains this line of thought for some seconds, and then replies…
