Yami's eyes widen upon seeing another quest right away. He was still dazed about the sensation he felt, not to mention the unknown man's identity, whether he was an NPC, but Yami needed to prioritize the quest.
"Hey! Which way towards Guowei Highschool?" Yami asked in a hurry since he only had 20 minutes to complete the given quest.
The man tilted his head in amusement at how Yami spoke to him.
"Go straight on that street and turn left. You will see the school building, but you must hurry since it's quite distant from here." The man spoke with his fingers pointed in the school's direction to gave Yami a visual aid.
"Thank you!"
Yami turned his back and started running as quickly as possible until he reached a metal barrier that separated the two places; the ruins and the civilization.
Yami had no choice but to climb over the barrier, jumped on the other side, and continued running. He arrived at the school gate before the time limit was over.
[1ST DAY OF SCHOOL: HAS BEEN COMPLETED. YOUR REWARD CAN BE FOUND IN THE INVENTORY.]
Yami leaned against the wall for a few seconds while catching his breath. That was the first time in many years that Yami felt weak.
"This frail body will be the death of me."
Yami gazed at the school, which looked like a typical school he had attended before. After he regained his composure, Yami went to stroll the campus to search for the water station, which didn't take long before he found it.
Yami opened one of the faucets and cleaned the scratch on his palm. He flinched when he tried to touch the wound.
'What the hell is going on?' Yami thought as he wrapped his palm using the handkerchief he found in his pocket.
He sat on the bench nearby and opened the inventory, and checked on his rewards. The first item he chose was the letter since Yami was curious about what was written inside.
[DO YOU WANT TO OPEN THE SECRET LETTER?]
[ACCEPT] [REJECT]
Yami accepted, and the letter appeared in his hand. It was inside a black envelope with a signature on the back.
"This belongs to Suyin!" Yami exclaimed upon seeing the signature. His hands trembled while he carefully opened the letter and read what was written inside.
[Dearest brother,]
[If you receive this letter, I have been missing for years. I'm sorry. Everyone had a hard time because of me, didn't you? I just wanted to earn money for the family and bring you back home to us. I thought this would be easy, and I could return home soon, but I was wrong.
Brother, this place may look like a game, but it's not. This is reality. If you die, everything is over…]
The paragraphed was suspended. Yami flipped the letter to read the continuation but saw it was locked.
"How can I read the next part!?" Yami uttered and aggressively combed his hair back due to frustration. He stood up and went to the nearest wall; without hesitation, Yami punched the surface as hard as possible to vent out his emotions.
'Suyin is trapped in this world. I must find her as soon as possible!' Yami thought as he clenched his fist at the newfound determination to play the game. "I need to calm down first."
Yami was still trying to compose himself when someone tapped his shoulder. He nearly knocked her off but was able to stopped himself on time.
"Hello, I'm Miss Kong Jie, and you must be the new student," Kong Jie smiled at him gracefully.
"Ah! Yes, I'm Yin Ying," Yami breathed in and extended his hand for a handshake.
Kong Jie giggled before accepting Yami's hand. "Please follow me. You're late for your first class."
As they were walking along, Kong Jie noticed the bleeding on Yami's knuckles and decided to proceed to the school's clinic first for him to get treated.
"After the nurse finishes treating your wound, proceed to the teacher's office," Kong Jie said before walking out.
"Okay."
Yami looked at his knuckles and winched in pain. "So, this is a real-world after all."
While Yami was waiting for the nurse to arrive. He opened his inventory to checked the other reward.
'A gift from my world. What could it be?' Yami thought and opened the reward box. A plain black ring fell on his hand. "Just a ring?"

'My body abilities?' Yami pondered the question of what abilities he would get when a woman entered the room.
"You must be the student that Ms. Kong notify me to treat. May I take a look at your wound?" Ailu, the school nurse, took Yami's hand and scanned the area before taking a box full of medical supplies under her table.
"This might hurt a little," Ailu stated, applied alcohol over the wound, and put ointments and bandages.
Yami tried to suppress reacting to the pain throughout the entire process until the end.
"You're done, be careful next time, okay?" Ailu smiled and left Yami alone.
"Thank you," Yami said and hopped down from the bed. He followed Kong Jie's instructions and went to the teacher's office, not far from the clinic.
"Wait here for a while," Kong Jie stated and went to call the homeroom teacher to notify Yami's arrival.
'This world looks exactly like earth except for those soul beasts,' Yami thought while looking at the teachers inside. They ignored him and continued with their work.
Yami took out the ring and inserted it on his left ring finger.
[SOUL RING WAS ACTIVATED.]
Yami saw tiny blocks appeared on his feet and go upwards before disappearing when they reached his head. He didn't feel any pain or anything unusual. Yami thought that the ring was a scam until he noticed the pain on his knuckles was gone.
