Chương 69: Guest

A freshly brewed tea sat between me and an old man. He had his elbows on the wooden desk, his face a mask of curiosity and something else I didn't know how to put.

His expression was stoic, but his eyes held the questions he must have had for me.

I had no intention of drawing that much attention. But it was too late to have any regrets. 

Governor, the golden name plate read. I bit my lower lip.

The rest of my company was waiting outside the closed doors of the governor's office. 

From my brief encounter with Bronn, I could see a trace of semblance between him and his father.

"So the rumors were true," the man says after his assessment, his attention directed at me. 

"People have mouths, so words do travel fast."

"I thought I had misheard it. But seeing you in person confirmed the hearsay."

"So, did I meet your expectation, or am I the complete opposite?"
