One more chapter of everyone's new favorite spider (at least it's mine).
I just want to warn that I will stay pretty close to canon, but not so much, things will change at a certain point.

Ok I need to think this through calmly and logically.
And first things first is my reincarnation.
And, honestly, that's my main problem.
I mean, I reincarnated in Hiro Wakaba's body, the same body that D used when I was on earth, that would explain why I had certain changes in my attitude, the really worrying thing is that our souls merged for about 18 years, the time I lived as Wakaba, if Ariel went through such radical changes in such a short time by merging with that Wakaba personality, what changes did she open up?
...You know what, thinking about that is very problematic, I have even more important things to think about.
To be reborn in this world, and as a kumoko of all things, is very problematic, as I have to be Ariel's right hand and I am destined to save
Nai wa!
Why did this have to happen to me! I don't want to save the world, I just want to be OP and make fun of everyone to their faces!.
Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why!
...Okay, I got that out of my system.
Wait, come to think of it, I'm acting very out of my mind, I'm acting very childishly, almost like I'm... kumoko.
Wait! Don't tell me D fused the two of us when she sent me this one.
Nai wa! Why! This wasn't supposed to be like this, damn D!
Ok calm down, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale.
...kumoko's personality is already starting to affect me, I'm becoming more childish, I need to think everything through coldly.
First things first, I need skills to become strong quickly, so I need the Appraisal skill now.
Number of skill points currently in possession: 100. Number of skill points required to acquire the skill [Appraisal Lv.1]: 10.
Wait... what?
10 skill points to gain Appraisal?! Wasn't it supposed to be 100?! Not that I'm complaining, this it's actually great! Fantastic even!
My answer is yes, obviously!
[Appraisal Lv.1] acquired. Number of skill points remaining: 90.
Good! That's perfect, now I have to verify that this skill is working properly.
Grab a nearby stone and try to focus "Appraisal" on it.
And it really works, I feel my mana decrease slightly and the information flows into my head!
Stone
...And it's still as useless as I imagined!
Good! Looks like everything is merging like it's supposed to.
Just to be on the safe side, though, I head for the wall closest to my position and do the same.
Wall
...Yep, still useless.
Well, as long as it's level one, I don't really understand exactly how these skills actually go up.
Anyway, I still have 90 skill points remaining and that means I can still get some skills!
Let's see, system or whatever you are, do you have any hypnosis and telekinesis skills?
Number of skill points currently in possession: 90. Number of skill points required to acquire the [Hypnosis Lv.1] skill: 20.
Number of skill points currently in possession: 90. Number of skill points required to acquire the [Telekinesis Lv.1] skill: 20.
Yes! Yes to 2!
[Hypnosis Lv.1] acquired. Number of skill points remaining: 70.
[Telepathy Lv.1] acquired. Number of skill points remaining: 50.
Great!
Huh? You are wondering why I acquired these 2 skills, well it's really simple
The hypnosis I am obtaining now to fight against enemies, more specifically for when I am forced to fight against multiple enemies at the same time.
I don't remember everything about the series, the disadvantages of having a bad memory like mine, I only remember the important things, like the fight against araba, which I'm looking forward to.
But what I am sure of is that at some point I will have to fight multiple enemies at the same time and hypnosis will serve me well when those fights occur.
And telepathy to be able to communicate more easily with someone, I could also possibly cause mental damage but that's just a theory.
Now if only I could somehow learn the native language of this place.
Oh well, you can't get everything.
Wait, I must confirm something first
Spider, no name
Yep, I still don't have a name
It must be because I was just born, although I would have liked to keep my name.
...Wait, am I a man or a woman?
I mean, I'm a spider so technically I have no gender, but my goal is to evolve into an Arachne and Arachne are female.
...Meh I'll see it later, now I'm hungry.
For now, I will walk through this large cave in the hope of finding something to eat.
You know, when they said this cave is big, they weren't lying, I mean, I guess it's because of my size but the fact that I can barely see the ceiling and the width of this place is so big doesn't help.
At least I'm not claustrophobic, plus jumping through randomly loose rocks helped me not to get bored.
I walked for what I would say was quite a while until I found a path that forked.
I climbed up a big rock and I could see a lot of monsters, it looked like there were a lot of them scattered around, all walking around where they were.
DeerDeerDeerDeerDeerDeerDeerDeerDeerDeerDeerDeerDeerDeerDeerDeerDeerBatBatBatBatBatBatBatBatBatBatBatBatBatBatBatBatBatBatBatBatBatBatBatWolfWolfWolfWolfWolfWolfWolfWolf...
Ah, fuck, that hurt. I must have Aprraisal them unconsciously but it did hurt, when my head stops hurting, I'll make a mental note to myself.
Looking closer, they are actually more magnificent than the ones in my land, I mean the deer have beautiful horns, they also look sharp, I wonder if they can pierce someone like a bull. The bats look like demonic rodents, they even have demonic wings. The wolves are a bit more disappointing, as they only have 6 legs, I wonder if it's to reach their prey faster.
But well, I must stop admiring them and back away slowly and quietly for now, I mean I only have Appraisal, hypnosis and telepathy, I'm still not strong enough to hunt them down, but I will, eventually.
For now, I need to retreat, luckily, I found a cave big enough to be my home but small enough to go unnoticed if you are not actively looking for something in the cave.
It's perfect!
Although... I got lost.
In my defense it wasn't my fault, but this fucking cave is so big that when I was coming back, I got lost, then I kept running into fucking monsters that forced me to retreat and I got further away.
Also, every time I move, I find more and more roads that are forked, and none of them have a cave where I can settle down!
Nai wa... feel my whining.
I seriously need a map and the system doesn't give me one, unbelievable.
And when all seemed lost, I found something incredible, human footprints.
Fucking human footprints
And they made me realize how huge I am.
I mean, spiders in rpg's or games like that have always been big and I remember in the anime they showed several times that kumoko was small, but comparing my body to these prints I could see that I was easily bigger than them.
So, there is only one explanation, either they are children's footprints (which is impossible) or I am simply bigger than I initially imagined.
Well, that doesn't really matter but I like to be big so I don't mind.
You know, the more I think about it the more I can't help but feel sorry for the humans of this world, I mean they keep having conflicts with each other, with the elves who are tremendous sons of bitches and also with the monsters and with monsters like mother who are considered natural disasters on the loose, things don't look good for them.
But well, I'm not going to keep thinking about it.
For now, I need to concentrate and... wait, what is that lying near the footprints, after getting a little closer I see that it is one of my spider sisters, it looks like the humans finished her off.
May you rest in peace.
But hey, now I remember one of the reasons why kumoko couldn't escape.
Humans.
As a newborn spider hatchling, I am naturally weak, so trying to get out of this cave will be even more difficult because I have to watch out for both the humans that come in for x or y reason and the hungry monsters that roam around here.
Ugh, it's certainly a great life for me.
Anyway, I wasted too much time trying to find my way back to that good base and my guts are already growling, so I need to make a base and get some food soon.
The current and most urgent problem is food, as I am already starving, not literally, but you know what I mean.
And that problem is also already solved, since I have my sister's remains here.
Thank you, sister, if it wasn't for your unfortunate luck to have encountered those humans, I wouldn't have managed to eat, so your (unintentional) sacrifice will be remembered.
Although no, wait, if I eat it right now in an open space like this, a monster might attack me while I'm eating, so change of plans, the current priority will have to be to make me a base, or a house if you want to put it nicer, first.
So, grabbing my foo- I mean my poor sister's corpse, I walk around looking for a good middle ground.
I finally managed to find it, a t-intersection with no human tracks, far enough away so I wouldn't be bothered by humans and close enough to catch dumb monsters.
Perfect!
Block the entrances and exits with my nets? Done!
Escape route secured? Done!
Food? Done!
It was really easy to make the traps, once I realized that I had pulled out a spider thread unconsciously, I was able to generate more thread to make the traps and so on, so once I have eaten my sister, I will make my nest.
Although I will need more food if I am to survive, this will suffice for now.
Who would have thought that all those survival games would be of any use?
Before eating, I needed to experiment with my threads, why, because they are the only saving grace, I have to defend myself, they serve as both defense and attack, although they have certain limited uses, they are still good.
Also, spider threads are a part of me now, so I need to master them to survive.
So, I just grabbed one of the threads and experimented with it, seeing how far I could stretch it, methods of defense and attack, its speed, all of it.
It is still very versatile despite being weak against fire.
In fact, I changed the trap nets to threads as thin as a hair once I saw that I could change their thickness but they were also quite sticky.
It was not difficult.
In the end, in my experimentation, I ended up creating a beta nest, a basic test nest, which would serve as a small home for now.
I know I shouldn't get used to this house, because humans tend to destroy kumoko houses like they are nothing but I couldn't help it.
It was my hard work after all.
I also discovered why spiders don't stay stuck in their webs when they make them.
It turns out that spiders have 2 types of threads, one sticky and one not and because spider webs are so adept at using them, they end up doing amazing things.
And that I didn't know, one good thing about being revived as a spider.
Also, before changing the thread I experimented with its stickiness, I ended up catching my leg in my own trap, if it wasn't that I could alter its property thanks to the fact that I had not yet detached it from my butt, I would have lost a leg sooner than necessary.
I created a thread with all the strength I could create and I couldn't cut it, no matter how hard I tried, so with that thread I covered the entrances and exits of my house.
I ended up experimenting so much that I got exhausted and ended up remembering that my stamina was depleted and it did not regenerate automatically.
How careless I was, Ouch!
I am also very hungry, I had been prolonging this since my human part didn't want to eat my own sister, but I can't help it anymore, I am hungry so I am going to eat.
I approached my sister and clasped my hands together in prayer, "Itadakimasu!
Ñom, ñom, ñom, ñom.
...hmm
In fact, it is delicious.
It's delicious! I don't know how Kumoko could complain about this! She really has no taste.
What a great feast!
Condition fulfilled: Title acquired [Devourer of relatives].
Skills acquired [Taboo Lv1][Heretic Magic Lv1] as a result of the title [Devourer of Relatives].
...oh yeah, I forgot about that.
(N/A: I was going to end it here but I didn't want to leave it incomplete, so I followed it).
Well, I guess I have to thank you even more sister, I got taboo and heretic magic thanks to you.
Your sacrifice will certainly not be forgotten!
Anyway, let's see if I can use heretic magic, it should be easy.
...Yes, I can't use it.
Hell, I thought that having experienced the use of mana flow I would be able to use it but nothing.
Well, that will be for another time, most likely when I know what I'm doing once Appraisal levels up.
I was thinking about it so much that I didn't notice that one of my warning wires that I had tied to my leg shook so much that it pulled me to the ground.
Ouchie!
I look over to where one of my traps was and there, I see my first prey.
Once I got closer, the voice of the system echoed in my head.
Frog
...I mean, it's not like the frogs I had seen in my previous life but it's not that different either.
It has rainbow-colored spots that are quite pretty.
It's also as big as I am, so I should have no problem filling up with it.
I wonder if it will taste like chicken, I hate chicken.
As I watched her, I saw as if she was about to spit something in my direction.
I was going to dodge it, but then I remembered one of the things kumoko made the most of in the canon.
The power to win passives through pain
So here we go, hit me with everything you've got!
I just moved a little bit and let it hit me a little bit.
And it hurts like hell!
Fuck, the poison in this thing is no joke.
As I laughed at myself, this time I didn't catch the ball of poisonous slime he threw at me and hit me in the left side of my face.
Shit, with Appraisal at such a low level, I can't see how much life I have, so I can't take advantage of it that way, so I'll have to dodge for now.
Moving as fast as I could, I moved out of range of this spider.
Shit, that really hurt, luckily it only hit the upper left part of my face, so I only lost a few eyes, so I won't have any serious vision problems yet.
I need to kill this frog fast.
Although it will be difficult to concentrate with this pain.
Proficiency has reached the required level. Acquired skill [Acid resistance Lv1]
...oh, so it was not poison but acid.
My bad.
On the bright side, the pain has subsided.
Well, it's time for the counterattack, here I come!
I went running towards that stupid frog jumping from wall to wall, dodging his acid bullets every time he shot at me.
Once I was able to sneak up behind her, I jumped up to the back of her neck and gave her a good bite, yum.
The good thing is that I have a poisonous bite.
Suffer bitch suffer!
But while I was distracted biting it -splat- another acid bullet hit me in my blind spot.
Bastard!
It still hurts, even if you have some stamina!
...I think I even bit myself by accident.
Proficiency has reached the required level. Skill [Poison Resistance Lv1] has become [Poison Resistance Lv2].
...Ah yes, I am naturally resistant to poison, now it hurts less.
Well, no more little cute spider girl.
I took another bite, then another, then another.
The bastard all he could do was writhe as if trying to escape, but eventually he got tired, his movements weakened and he dropped dead.
Uff, Uff, I forgot that we were the same size, although there was no safe place to moderate him without him attacking me, I had to give him more bites in a row to calm him down.
Victory! Now, for the victory banquet.
Dead spider
Itadakimasu!
Ñom, ñom, ñom, ñom
Delicious! And it's spicy, must be because of the poison but I'm not complaining!
Proficiency has reached the required level. Skill [Acid Resistance Lv1] has become [Acid Resistance Lv2]
Double victory!
What a great day it was today.
...Wait, didn't I have hypnosis among the skills I grabbed? I really forgot I had it and I don't use it, fuck
although I don't know how to use it either...
...nai wa.
