Chương 45: Lunch Break
"Let's take a lunch break."
Everyone in the room gaped at Si Mu in surprise, including Xu Anyi. She opened her mouth to say something, but then stopped as he did not say that the break was because of her, and she did not want to overthink.
Plus, she was indeed hungry and she was beginning to get a little worried about him too. Did he work for this long every day without break?
And it seemed like if it hadn't been because of her. . . noise, he wouldn't have called the break. Then when did they usually eat lunch?
"But President Si, my report-" the manager stood up from his chair, frowning. He had spent all night yesterday finishing up the report.
"We can discuss it after the break," Si Mu said as he closed the folder with the report inside in front of him and stood up, "Be back in two hours."
Then, he turned around and walked over to Xu Anyi, lowering his voice slightly, "Let's go eat."
Xu Anyi smiled and stood up as well, following him out of the room.
After they had gone, the rest of the people still stayed seated inside the room. They looked at each other in surprise. Ever since Si Mu had taken over the company, every single meeting they had has always lasted for several hours from beginning to end, and they never had a single break.
They knew that this new boss did not like interrupting meetings, and although he was young, he could be a workaholic monster, especially when it came to important meetings. The longest meeting they had almost lasted a full day without breaks, and it only ended when the President's father, the chairman, came in after receiving a call from his assistant and stopped the meeting.
This was probably the first time ever that the President stopped the meeting for a break. . .
This made everyone in the room even more curious about that girl's identity. They knew that if it hadn't been for her unexpected "sound", there was no way the President would have thought of a break.
Everyone in the room was filled with different emotions and thoughts as they slowly got up one by one and left the room to eat their precious and unexpected lunch.

After leaving the meeting room, Si Mu did not return to his office and instead reached his hand back, grabbing onto her hand as they walked over to the elevator.
"Where are we going?" Xu Anyi asked as they walked down the stairs.
"There isn't any food here. Let's go eat out," he explained as he pressed the elevator button.
The two of them entered the elevator and rode down to the first floor. The front lobby was more empty than in the morning, but there were still some people walking around, but once again, they turned to look at them when they entered.
The workers didn't seem as surprised anymore, as news that the President had brought a woman had spread across the entire company already. Now, the workers looked at Xu Anyi more with curiosity and judgment instead of shock and surprise.
Who was this girl that was able to gain the President's attention?
Xu Anyi walked straight ahead, and she felt all the stares filled with judgment. Her hand tightened slightly around Si Mu's, and she instinctively wanted to tilt her head down to hide her presence as she had done for the past five years.
However, when she suddenly felt Si Mu's strong hand grip her hand tightly as well, walking proudly ahead, she looked at his back and slowly straightened her back as well.
She used her empty hand to push her hair back as she lifted her chin up, walking a little faster so she was moving at the same pace as Si Mu.
Why did she have to be afraid?
Sure, in prison, she needed to look down and maintain a low profile to stay alive and not bring trouble to herself, but now, she was not that same Xu Anyi anymore.
She opened up her shoulders as she followed Si Mu out of the building.
Just like him, the confidence seemed natural to her, and when she walked next to him, her presence was not weak in the slightest, and matched with his perfectly.
The workers behind them stared at the two of them in awe. It was like watching a King and a Queen walking together. . .
A few of them took a picture of the girl, even more curious about who she was.
The workers whispered amongst themselves, and many of the workers guessed that she was probably the daughter of some powerful family as well, as she carried that natural feeling of pride and elegance.
The car was parked outside the building and Si Mu opened the back car door for Xu Anyi, who got in first. Then, he entered after her and shut the door, and the car drove off.
The workers watched the car leave and then hesitantly returned to their work, continuing to discuss the unknown girl next to the President.

Xu Anyi and Si Mu arrived at a restaurant a short distance away from the company, and as they walked in, a waiter immediately greeted them and led them to a private room in the back of the large restaurant.
Xu Anyi had some memories of coming to this restaurant before, as it was a famous restaurant in City A, where upper class people often gathered to eat together or hold business meals.
She had come here with her parents once a long time ago to celebrate her mother's birthday, but it all seemed like an eternity ago as Xu Anyi walked down the familiar hallway.
It had been so long ago that she couldn't remember if the hallway had been remodeled or not, but it was not the same as she remembered it anymore.
They entered a VIP room at the end of the hallway, and there was a small table inside the large room with two chairs across from each other.
"Here is the menu," the waiter said, handing Xu Anyi a large book.
"Order what you want," Si Mu said as he set the menu book onto the table and picked up the wet towel to wipe his hands.
Xu Anyi flipped through the book and stared at the unimaginable prices next to each dish, and she slowly closed the book once again, "I'm fine with anything, you can order. You have more experience with me."
She smiled as she stood up, "I'm going to go to the restroom."
He nodded and she walked out of the room, walking down the empty hallway with several private rooms to the side.
She walked down the hallway slowly, looking for the restroom. As she reached the end of the hallway, the door she walked by suddenly opened, and the noise from inside the room spilled out as a woman walked out of the room.
She almost bumped into the woman and she stopped, turning her head around, "Sorr-"
The door shut behind the woman as both of them froze.
The bright smile on Xia Yiwei's slowly disappeared as her face darkened.
"Xu Anyi, what are you doing here?!"
