Chương 18: Married
It took almost an hour for Xu Anyi to shower, change, do her hair, and put on makeup, and before leaving the room, she took another long look at herself in the mirror.
She seemed to see the old Xu Anyi again as she ran her fingers through her long black hair, her large fox-like eyes gleaming as she took in the sight of herself.
This was much more like it!
But the white blouse and jeans. . . Xu Anyi pulled on the loose jeans, frowning as her lips twisted up in distaste.

A few minutes later, the door opened just as Si Mu was about to knock on it.
Xu Anyi took a step back in surprise when she saw him standing at the door, and Si Mu was equally startled as his hand froze in midair.
Then, his eyes slowly traveled down from her face to her body down to her legs, and he lowered his arm as the corners of his mouth turned up slightly.
She was wearing a knee-length black dress that hugged her curves, but as she had lost her fit and sexy body, now the dress only looked big on her, sagging down on her slender body. Even so, he still thought that she looked beautiful.
She met his gaze, lifting her chin up only slightly as she had put heels on.
"You look beautiful," he complimented her.
Xu Anyi paused for a second, almost as if she was pondering a reaction, and then she placed one hand on her hip as she smiled seductively, "Thank you."
However, when seeing her expression, Si Mu's expression darkened slightly as he studied her, "I don't want my wife to purposefully try and seduce me."
A hint of surprise flashed past her face as she tilted her head slightly, her smile fading from her face as she wondered how he could tell. She had indeed purposefully smiled at him in an alluring way, flaunting her captivating eyes, because she wants- no needs him to like her.
She needed his help and she did not know why he had liked her in the past, but she knew that it was probably this attraction from eight years ago that made him agree to this deal, this deal she desperately needed.
So, she has been trying extra hard to bring the old Xu Anyi back and use her charms on him, but it seemed like he wasn't buying it. . .
Si Mu looked at her once more before turning around and walking towards the stairs, and Xu Anyi followed him from a distance, letting out a sigh.
The car was parked right outside the door already and Si Er opened the door for them before starting the car.
Xu Anyi sat in the back with Si Mu, and the ride was silent as they rode into the city, quickly reaching the county clerk's office.
It had opened already even though it was a Saturday, and there was a long line of people inside waiting to get their marriage certificate.
The two of them walked in, Xu Anyi following behind Si Mu. Once they reached the line of people, a man wearing a black suit rushed up to them, bowing down when he saw Si Mu, "President Si, it is an honor to have you here today. Please follow me."
Under Xu Anyi's astonished expression, they were led into a private room to the side of the building, where they were seated on a wooden bench in front of a red backdrop.
The cameraman was all ready and he greeted Si Mu politely as well before starting to take the pictures immediately. Xu Anyi was still in shock as she quickly plastered a smile onto her face and looked into the camera lens.
The cameraman took a few pictures and then stopped, looking back at the pictures with a slight frown. Then, he began taking pictures ago, saying, "Lean in closer together."
Xu Anyi blinked once and then looked at Si Mu, who sat right next to her. They were really close already, but she did not want their bodies to touch, so she had positioned herself at the very edge of the bench.
"Miss, can you move in closer?" The cameraman asked again.
Xu Anyi gulped as she edged in a little closer to him, and her arm brushed against his as she sat up straight.
"A little more," the cameraman urged.
Xu Anyi scooted over just a centimeter more again, and the cameraman's finger paused. Just as he was about to order her to move again, Si Mu reached his long arm out, and with a swift motion, placed his arm around her slim waist and pulled her in, so the sides of their bodies were completely touching.
Xu Anyi gasped as her eyes shot up at him, but he continued to look straight ahead at the camera with a blank expression, as if nothing had happened.
"Good, this is perfect!" The cameraman exclaimed, finally smiling as he began clicking away again, "Look here, please! Miss, look at the camera!"
Xu Anyi slowly turned to face the camera and tried to squeeze out a smile although she was practically going to get a heart attack at the moment.
"Smile! This is your wedding picture, smile happily!"
Xu Anyi took a deep breath as she dug her fingers into her knee and forced out the most genuine and happy smile she could muster.
Luckily, the cameraman only took a few more pictures, and then he looked back at them and stood up, "Perfect! Thank you, President Si. I will get the marriage certificate ready in a few minutes!"
Si Mu nodded as he let go of Xu Anyi's waist and stood up, straightening his suit. Xu Anyi let out a sigh of relief now that she was out of his strong presence, but when she looked up again, he had turned around to look at her, and she quickly jumped up from the bench and followed him out of the room.
The man was really fast and they only had to wait a few minutes before two small red booklets were handed to them.
Outside of the building, Xu Anyi held out her new marriage certificate into the sun, looking at the small square image on the side of the paper.
When she saw the picture, her lips twitched slightly.
She was smiling widely and because the image was small, it was hard to tell if her smile was genuine or not. However, the man next to her. . .
Now, Xu Anyi realized that when the cameraman told them to smile, he was probably talking to Si Mu but was too afraid to directly point it out. . .
He had his usual cold and straight expression, but when Xu Anyi looked very closely in the light, she could barely notice the small grin present on his face, a rare smile that melted his usual ice cold eyes.
A smile swept across her face as she stood on the edge of the sidewalk, leaning forward slightly as she stared at her new marriage certificate with a man she barely knew.
However, she felt excited.
She was finally out of that dark hole, and she had something to live for again.

They were in the car again, going back to the Jinli Palace, and Xu Anyi held onto her marriage certificate tightly in her hand.
She glanced over at Si Mu, who also had his marriage certificate loosely held in between his fingers. He had not taken a single look at it after they had received it.
She frowned slightly, pressing her lips together, deep in thought.
Finally, just as the car entered the neighborhood, she mustered up the courage and said softly, "President Si, can I ask you a question?"
He looked over at her, "Call me Si Mu."
She blinked once then nodded, "Si Mu. . . Why did you propose to me eight years ago?"
