Valier's POV:
In front of us all stood the instructor who had registered and given us weapons. He didn't introduce himself or anything, he just told us what was going to happen.
"All of you are going to be sent to a remote island, with your goal being survival. Don't worry about anything, including death. Death in there doesn't mean anything, neither do injuries. I won't explain why or how it works, just know that aside from death being meaningless, that another thing will be different from normal. I won't tell you what it is, but it's awesome. Oh, and whoever survives the longest wins and therefore gets the best grade. So feel free to 'kill' your opposition."
Then, with a snap of his fingers, it happened. I was probably the only one who could even perceive what was happening due to my eyes being on a different level.
The amount of time that the following events took to occur were infinitesimally close to 0 seconds. Due to the fact that the world hadn't been created, there was no law that negated my ability to use my Demonic Eyes.
Then, I saw it. A primordial being who controlled the earth, or rather, was the earth itself.
Gaia.
Its form... wasn't something I could describe. No human would understand what they were looking at even if they wanted to. All I knew was that this... this wasn't something I could fight against for now, it's power was on an entirely different dimension. The only thing in my arsenal that could possibly harm that thing was Godsbane due to his nature as a Fenrir.
I couldn't even move within this place of nothingness. All I could do was bear witness. All I could do was bear witness to the creation of this world.
The world? No, this was beyond the creation of a world. This... was the birth of a universe.
From what I believed to be the being's hand, stars formed in this realm of nothingness. This place had nothing aside from us, and Gaia along with her creations. Once the universe had been established, the being's body began to change and soon, the world was formed. Her body made platforms and moved us to different places, splitting us up but keeping us in our groups.
And before I knew it, I was in a forest with my group.
"What the..."
Dante began to speak but I walked off towards a nearby bush, and threw up. A drop of blood spilt from my eye and blood seeped from my nose. It seemed that processing all that information had caused my eyes and brain to over exert themselves.
I then got up from the floor, and turned to face my group
Angelica looked at me with a bit of concern before she pulled a tissue out from her pocket, handing it to me.
"Wipe your nose and eyes, the blood's going to be irritating."
I then did as she asked and then threw the tissue into a hedge.
"Our goal is to survive for the longest possible time. We have no idea how long this'll last. We have no food, no place to stay, nothing. This is... pretty sucky. And considering I can't feel Mana... I'm guessing that the thing that's different from the norm is the fact that we can't use Magic."
Dante spoke, sort of annoyed at this situation. It was understandable to be fair, in all fairness, the weapon he relied upon had been robbed from him.
Then, Isabella spoke, clearly nervous.
"G-guys.. I think I heard something."
I then narrowed my eyes. I had seemingly dropped my guard after seeing… whatever the fuck you can even call what I saw.
"Get behind me."
The group got behind me without uttering a single word of protest. It seemed they weren't stupid.
"Oh right! If Magic doesn't work, then Physiques will! Good thinking."
Dante exclaimed rather happily, seemingly understanding why I had been bound.
But unfortunately for him, I was just a normal human right now. No powers, no nothing.
Then from the bushes, came a boar. It was probably an adult, or nearing adulthood.
"What the fuck, Valier, shouldn't we run? Even with a physique... isn't that thing a bit too strong?"
Dante voiced his fears, but I ignored him.
Then, I crouched down and leaned forward, assuming a stance not dissimilar to a wrestling stance. Boars were strong, heavy, and fucking fast. They had tusks that could shred flesh apart. They were built to survive and endure harsh conditions, but so was I.
And, if death meant nothing, then what did I have to lose?
So, I charged at the boar. The boar was pretty confused, as it probably wasn't used to being charged at. But I wasn't mindlessly charging at it. It, for some reason, didn't charge at me, and I put the chain of my hand cuffs below its neck. Thus, the chains rattled and pressed against its throat. As it realised that its throat was about to be attacked, it tried to back up.
But, it was no use. I raised my leg above its head and stomped on it, the head falling down to the floor with my chains still below it. After all, although it was durable, it wasn't impervious to asphyxiation. So, while applying force onto its head, I pulled my arms up as if bicep curling.
The boar tried to stand, but with the lack of oxygen, its muscles did shit, and therefore it couldn't exert enough force to stand up. While I was trying to choke the boar, Dante ran towards it and stabbed it's throat before twisting his knife. Blood splattered everywhere, but he wasn't done. He took out the knife and stabbed it over and over, mangling the inside's of the boar's body.
Even after it died, he didn't stop stabbing it.
"Dante, it's dead."
But he didn't stop.
I sighed, and walked over to him before grabbing his arm.
"We're fine, you can stop."
He looked at me with a crazed look in his eyes.
"You... what the fuck was that shit? You just tried to wrestle a damn boar, are you fucking stupid? Do you know how dumb that was? Why would you even think that trying to kill a boar while restrained was a good idea?"
I then looked down at him.
"If dying doesn't matter, if injuries here don't translate to the real world, then what do I lose by fighting like that? It doesn't matter how self destructive I am if I get rid of everyone else before I fall."
He then looked at me with a look of shock on his face.
"Well... fair enough actually. If everyone else dies before you, then I guess we win?"
"Anyways, I think I've secured some food."
Then, I noticed some of my blood on my wrists. It seemed that the cuffs had dug into my skin causing some bleeding.
Angelica noticed as well.
"Valier... you're bleeding? With your physique, you shouldn't be bleeding... unless you cant use your physique? Wait… you've got to be shitting me! How did you even? Is that even meant to be possible? With handcuffs and weights as well? Man you're a total weirdo, I'm so fucking glad I'm on your side, and I'm gonna remind you that you owe me big time."
I looked at her with a raised eyebrow, she never sweared this much unless she was genuinely scared, shocked, or feeling an extreme emotion.
Then, I faced a tree and launched a kick.
Part of the tree caved in.
'I should have been able to kick through a tree like this. These weights... are pretty fucking heavy.'
"It's hard to balance, so don't count me being able to handle too many at once, I'm confident in 1 on 1 fights though."
Isabella gulped.
"I'll... do my best, but with a halberd and no Mana, all I can do is keep them away even if it's the weapon I usually use."
Angelica sighed.
"I don't know what the hell I can do, I've never even used a shield before."
I threw her a dirty look.
"Just bash their skulls in you fucking idiot. The hell's hard about that?"
I looked at the boar we had killed. The boar wasn't something we were meant to kill, in fact, it was simply meant to scare us and make us run. But I wanted to... let loose.
No, that was a lie. What I really wanted to do was to toy with these guys, especially Artorius. Just looking at him gave me an urge, an urge to absolutely crush him.
In the novel, he bore the title of the strongest. But that was the novel.
In this world, the one who would bear the title of the strongest was neither him, nor some end game villain.
It'd be me, Valier. Being the strongest, I thought that should be a goal I should set for myself.
I laughed at myself internally, when had I become so comfortable with calling myself Valier?
