Layla's parents stood over her bed at the hospital watching her. She was out of surgery but still unconscious.
"The doctor says she is lucky to be alive," Layla's father said to her mother.
"Indeed," Jane's voice held no form of emotion as she stared at her daughter, wondering how she ended up getting shot.
She couldn't wait to get out of there. She hates hospitals and not even her daughter's near-death experience is going to make her stay here.
"Do you think the Taylors did it?" She asked her husband her eyes focused on the medical device that was beeping beside her daughter. She couldn't seem to look at her daughter.
Ben sighed, his hands tucked inside the pockets of his coat.
"I don't know for sure, I won't put it past them. Mason has a motive, he wants to get back to me for sending those pictures to his wife."
"I warned you about doing that. I knew it was a bad idea from the onset."
