Zara's POV:
A beautiful morning in the battle arena, the sun is bright, and the sunlight is warm and not harsh. The birds keep chirping which was pleasant to hear, and the breeze and cold breeze gushed towards me. The leaves of the plants are covered from the dew drops. I stood there wearing a black leather suit with my dagger on my hilt near my calf and the scorpion spear dangling around my waist and a sword in my hand.
I was standing in the middle of the duel arena in my defense pose cause my opposition was Clary she is a damn tough fighter but I defeated her one time and that was Clary's first defeat so she was so angry at me. Rumors were saying that she is training day and night to defeat me. I removed my coat as I got ready.
Clank, the sound of two swords clashing echoed through the arena as the people started cheering and chanting our names Clary smirked at me and spelled something which made the ground shake, it made me unstable but soon I began to stand firmly on the shaky surface and a skeleton stood there with a sword while Clary stood there relaxed and created a wall around us so none of the people from outside could stop our duel.
You know what there are some rules for this duel:
1. You are not supposed to use magic inside the arena.
2. You cannot stop a fight in middle without announcing a clear winner.
3. These old sh** rules. Arghh...
Which all leads to the conclusion that I'm dead.
Alya's POV :
It was my first time seeing Zara in a swordsmanship Battle since I don't like fighting much, Rose is always the one who flaunts Zara's fighting skills but it was the last fight for Zara so I wanted to see it. I was surprised to see Zara winning all the rounds without any sweat and it was the grand finale of the Battle between Zara and Clary Mayer. I was so surprised to see Clary doing it not only me but the staffs were too but the headmistress looked as if she wanted nothing but to kill Clary, many know that the headmistress is quite easygoing for Zara and It is illegal to use magic inside the arena but Clary did it.
"Can they use magic inside the arena?" I asked with uncertainty.
"No, they are not fucking allowed to use magic and Clary is using magic. They should stop this Battle right now" Rose said angrily and was concerned by the fact Zara has been trapped.
However, I knew all the spells and potions able to bring dead or inanimate objects to life.
And not a single one of them gave the object eyes. Not only were those bright piercing eyes cause for concern but Rose to say it is unknown magic I was confused, but the fact that it was walking towards Zara.
I was still processing the fact that she had been nearly been decapitated by a glowing blue sword, I wasn't quite mentally ready for a hostile jumble of bones.
But Zarina was ready. And somehow, that didn't surprise me in the least. If I were to describe Zara in one word she would be unpredictable and doesn't trust others that easily it took her 2 years to trust us and she had some problems on her side too.
And in a weird, twisted way, the improbable and impossible fact that Zara was wielding a sword in her left hand with all the sureness of a gladiator, was predictable. I've seen weird things. But Zara's swordsmanship made the top ten.
She moved like the wind, ducking in and out, never landing a solid hit, but always staying out of the way of the broken bottle. It was like a dance to her. Except it was a very deadly dance. Zara ducked away, slid under, jumped around, and avoided death like it was second nature. It wasn't until the skeleton reached into the wall like the stone was slime and pulled out a matching sword, that Zara looked the slightest bit uncomfortable. This blade was just as rusted.
" Oh, you've got to be kidding me! " Zara panted as the hilt of the sword came out of the wall. Zara was breathing heavily, but it didn't look like it was from physical exhaustion.
Rather, she kept eyeing the walls like something bad was going to pop out of them. And considering both the skeleton and sword had come out of the wall, that was a cause of concern. I recalled that Zara gets Nyctophobia and Cryophobia easily.
Combined with an advancing skeleton and the dark and coldness surrounding her, I was surprised that she wasn't curled in a ball, hyperventilating like I wanted to see her: The skeleton chucked the bottle, and the shattered glass would've gone straight through her stomach Instead, Zara stretched like a cat and kicked it out of the way, and used the momentum of her kick to place herself between Clary and the skeleton. She dropped into a protective stance. Clary started biting her nails irritated.
Being an old, brittle skeleton, it managed to move like a snake, going for any vulnerable area. But it never hit her. Based on the fragility of the skeleton, one hit would probably turn that skeleton to dust, but if it had glowing eyes, then it could probably have different abilities like invulnerability.
I watched in awe as Zara took one great breath and then rushed the skeleton. I was utterly enthralled when she jumped off the side of the wall and did some sort of weird twist in the air, using the momentum of gravity to slice the head straight off the skeleton. She dropped to the ground in some sort of superhero stance, breathing heavily as the broken skull rolled around on the ground, its icy blue eyes staring straight at her. Without missing a beat, she stomped on the skull, splitting it in half. Those blue irises which will never leave my mind disappeared, and the skeleton turned to yellow dust that filled the arena with the smell of sulfur. And Clary stood there with an annoying smile. It all happened in mere seconds that Zara won the Battle.
