Lord Kieran, Remus, and Selene agreed to form a secret group to track down Iris and her other guardians. If Remus' assumptions were correct—that the dark queen roamed the land, seeking something—they could not waste time and must act quickly.

But it would be suspicious if any of them led the mission. Lord Kieran also didn't want Xanaros to know what they were up to, as he might ruin their plans. The high lord didn't want the Red King to hurt Iris again, but he knew he could only do so much without revealing his own involvement.

Lord Kieran stayed awake and stood on the balcony of his quarters back at Aisgarth. It was unusual for him to see his land teeming with life when, for centuries, everything around him looked dull and lifeless.

'Iris did this,' he thought, as a sense of gratitude washed over him.
