After two days of leveling with them, the kids left the adults to fend for themselves and started leveling themselves.
Though most of them had never played a single video game in their lives, all the adults loved the SR so much that they barely left it for food and bathroom breaks.
Sicilia, Reyhan, and Ryan's grandmother especially loved the game since after leveling up to level 10 and getting all her stats above 10, her physical condition had improved by leaps and bounds.
Liam, Sid's dad too, loved the in-game forgery and was kinda addicted to it after forging his first equipment.
His forging was so high level that all of his quests ended with an S rank completion rate or above. He was simply on another level.
Right now, the gang, including Emily and Max's siblings, were leveling in a part of the jungle that was filled with low-level uncommon bests. Although they didn't get any good dropped items from hunting low-level beasts, they were still good practice for when they went into the dungeon.
As for Oli, the little chimera, he was growing steadily as well. He was stuck at level 5 and refused to level up even after eating a lot of beast essence. Alex thought it had something to do with his DNA bar filling up.
They had also found three dual-class books in the past two days, but since their rank was just uncommon, Alex advised Reyhan to wait until they found a rare grade or higher rank book.
"ok, I think at this rate we can challenge the dungeon in two or three days," said Alex and looked at everybody with a guilty look on his face before saying, "but there is still something else we have to do before going into the dungeon."
"I don't like that look. What are we spouse to do?" asked Sid with a suspicious tone.
"well...., you have to die." Said Alex with a low voice.
"what??? what do you mean," Sid didn't even know how to react.
The reason Alex wanted them to die before the dungeon dive was because the death rate inside the dungeon was so high that they all were guaranteed to die at least once.
Since they had to fight and they could die in the middle of the fight, they had to be prepared for the feeling.
Although not as realistic as real life, the death inside the SR was still a strange and negative feeling for the first few times until you get used to it.
Alex didn't want them to die inside the dungeon for the first time and come back in the middle of the fight with a daze, so he wanted them to experience it at least once before they went into the dungeon.
After explaining all that, Alex looked at Max, who knew all this, for support.
Seeing the face of everybody in the group, Max stepped in and said, "at one point or another, we all have to experience death inside the SR, so don't you think it's better to experience it in a controlled environment for the first few times?"
"but what if we don't come back?" asked Ryan, clearly shaken.
"that's not a possibility. I have already tried it three times," said Alex.
"what? You mean you killed yourself?" asked Asue with a surprise reaction. Although she knew that this was all a game, it was so realistic that she couldn't find it in herself to die voluntarily.
"no, you can't kill yourself inside the SR, not yet at least. I had Max do it." Answered Alex.
"what about you? Did you die too?" asked Kate looking at Max.
"yes, I tried it too. I have to say, it really was a bad feeling, but it gets better after two or three times."
"what? You want us to die more than once?" asked Sid in a panic.
"in order to get used to the feeling, you have to die at least three times," Alex stepped in, "look, if you are hesitant, we can wait a little longer, but it's like a loose tooth, the sooner you get rid of it, the better."
"but what about our levels?" asked Parisa.
"We can level up again. Another reason why I said we should die now is because the higher leveled we are, the harder it gets to get our levels back."
Since after each level up, the amount of EXP needed to level up would increase, it was better to die at a relatively low level since every time a person died; they would lose a level and sometimes a piece of equipment.
"I want to do it," said Emily out of nowhere.
"I don't think you are ready yet, Emily," Alex looked at her with a concerned look.
"I'm ready; the sooner, the better, right?"
"right, but you are not coming into the dungeon. you still have time."
"I don't care; I prefer to do it now. I don't want to sleep thinking about it," Emily persisted.
"but…" Alex tried to say something else to persuade her not to go through with it, but Emily cut her short.
"it's just a game, Alex; I'm not dying. So just do it."
Seeing Emily's courage, the other three kids also stepped in and said simultaneously, "I want to do it too."
This time, it was Max's turn to get worried, but he knew that if Emily did it, there was no point in talking to his siblings, so he just looked at them and asked, "are you sure?"
"yes," they all said.
"ok then, I think we begin with the kids," said Max and looked at Alex, who was still not persuaded.
"but…." Said Alex, not knowing what to say.
"The sooner, the better, Alex. just do it fast," maxed looked at him seriously.
He didn't love his sibling any less than Alex, but he knew that they eventually had to go through with it.
Alex, on the other hand, wasn't so sure about this. He had already seen his sister die once and didn't want to experience the feeling again.
Although he knew that it was inevitable, he still couldn't get his mind around the idea of Emily dying, even in the game.
The others felt a little ashamed after seeing the courage in the kid's eyes.
They were supposed to be the ones keeping them safe and care for them, but now, it seemed that the role was reversed.
After seeing no way out of this, Alex took a deep breath and said, "ok, ill do it."
