Chương 40: Nano’s help

Max finished explaining his plans, and they took the position to start the attack.

Ryan looked a bit nervous; his experience from the last uncommon beast was still fresh in his mind. He was just a step away from death, and the pain he felt still haunted him.

Reyhan noticed her brother's uneasiness and got close to him, "don't worry, Ryan, it's just a game; we can die and still come back."

Ryan nodded and shook his head before looking at the target and saying, "ready?"

Alex, who was by his side, looked at him and said, "whenever you are."

Ryan didn't stall for another second, activated his skill, and charged at the level 27 fox with full force.

The foxes were shocked but not scared at all; they both reacted fast, and the strongest one stood in front of the other to take the impact of Ryan's shield.

The fox was about 2 meters tall and had beautiful red-orange fur covering its body. It stood firm and embraced itself for impact, ready to start the actual fight after it was hit.

When Ryan's shield hit the head of the fox, a BOOM sound was heard before a shockwave was generated.

Alex didn't wait anymore and attacked towards the second fox at full speed.

"Parisa, it's your turn," said Max.

Parisa ran towards the first fox without saying anything, and as she was running, two beautiful swords appeared in her hands.

She jumped high into the air and appeared behind the fox, and started attacking from behind.

The fox wanted to turn and attack the girl behind it, but Max was faster and kicked its head from the side.

Soon, they all engaged in battle and started taking little bits of HP every time they landed an attack.

On the other side of the battlefield, Alex was engaged in a heated battle with the second fox. Although his level was much higher than the beast he was fighting, in terms of grade, Alex was like a high-level common grade beast, fighting an uncommon one.

Although the uncommon one was lower in terms of level, its fighting capabilities were on a whole different level.

'I have to challenge the quest as soon as I hit level 50,' thought Alex.

The quest he was thinking about was actually an optional quest that players above level 50 could undergo to ascend ranks.

There were six known ranks for humans: iron, bronze, silver, gold, diamond, and adamantite. Right now, Alex and all humans on earth were at iron rank and needed to take on a special quest at level 50 to go from iron to bronze rank.

Iron rank was comparable to common grade in beasts, but it all depended on the person fighting capabilities.

As for the quest, it wasn't a mandatory quest, and if a person didn't take it, they still could level up just fine. But the difference between an iron rank player with a bronze rank one was like the difference between heaven and earth.

Not only would a person gain extra stat points and new skills when they ascend ranks, but they also would be able to start a guild.

That was why Alex needed all his teammates to reach level 50 before forming a guild with them.

In his previous life, Alex was one step away from completing the quest to ascend to adamantite and become an unbeatable existence on earth.

As Alex was fighting with the fox and thinking about his future plans, the other team had finished the first fox and joined Alex in his fight.

It didn't take long for them to finish the second fox and loot the bodies.

Max went to Alex and handed him the two uncommon beast essences that they had found.

"summon your beast companion Emily," said Alex and walked towards Emily.

Emily summoned the chimera and gave him to Alex.

Alex looked at the fragile puppy in his arms and then put one of the essences near its mouth.

The little beast opened his mouth and started munching on the small rock like it was candy.

"the system says that he is processing the DNA, and it will take ten minutes before he could absorb another essence," said Emily and took the chimera from Alex.

Mike, Matt, and Lily surrounded her and started to play with little chimera's hands.

"what now? Do we continue? Or is it enough for the day?" asked Max.

"it's your call," said Alex before going back to playing with the little beast in his sister's arm.

"then we rest here for twenty minutes and will search the area for other beasts to hunt."

Ten minutes later, Emily gave the second beast essence to her 'baby.'

After fully absorbing the second one, everybody noticed the changes in the little beast's body.

He became a bit bigger, and his eyes started opening more often than before.

"he is starting to grow," Emily exclaimed with a happy tone like that of a mother.

He was still a baby, so there was no intelligence behind his gaze, but he still looked around with curious eyes as if trying to comprehend the world around him.

"did the tree change?" asked Alex, expecting some changes in the evolution tree.

Emily looked at the records in front of her and said, "his stamina has gone up by 10 points, and there is a bar under the DNA branch that is filled by 1%,"

"only one present?" Alex was clearly disappointed by the slow growth of the chimera.

At this rate, they had to hunt a hundred and ninety-eight more uncommon beasts to fill the bar.

Max had already sent Kate to scout the area for beasts, and she had just come back reporting her findings, "I found three uncommon beasts and ten common ones around the area; which one do you want to hunt first?"

Alex, who heard their conversation, was surprised at Kate's finding and suddenly thought of something, 'nano are you there?' asked Alex in his mind.

'yes, Alex, I'm always here,' nano answered.

'did you do this?'

'what do you mean?'

'I mean the uncommon beasts; their number is too high to be a coincidence,'

Nano giggled and said, 'so you noticed, I may not be able to help you directly, but generating some monsters in a 'random' area isn't that hard.'

'thank you,'

'you're welcome,' said nano and cut off the connection.

"ok, gang, our next three targets are all uncommon beasts, so buckle up," said Max and looked at Kate, "guide the way,"
