Instead, they were emotions Neveah would have found too foreign to have ever been mustered by a man such as he was... two emotions stood out in particular, concern and remorse.
"He hurt you... again...one day, I will kill the bastard!" Alessio hissed in a pained tone.
Alessio reached for Neveah and on instinct, Neveah recoiled and she noted the flicker of hurt in his eyes, like her actions had physically hurt him.
"Forgive me, you know I had to play the part in order to calm our father's wrath. It tears at my heart..." Alessio pleaded, his tone earnest.
