"Woah, fuck... What Grade are you?" Eric said. Haha, my protege should surprise people at least this much!
"I reached Grade 6 the last month," Nea replied. "Pretty amazing, right? Bet you wanna shake my hand now, right?" she said and pushed her face towards Eric. Unfamiliar with so much attention, the man turned his face away from her.
"How was that fight possible, anyway? I've never seen people move terrains using no enchantments!" Eric said.
"Fufufu! That's bec—"
"Hey, Nea, stop," I called out, my voice cold and eyes wide. "Do you want to under shadow me, huh? Take away the role of the nerdy explainer too, huh? That's what you want, huh? Huh? Huh?"
"Jeez, you explain. Alright?"
Yup, I should be the one explaining! "Let's talk while moving, yeah? The fake sky in this dungeon looks like it's about to go dark," I said. The dungeon was a closed space, after all. Whatever blueish sky we could see right now was merely a product of magic influencing this terrain. Some dungeons even had red or purple skies, while some dungeons had no light in them.
"I'll keep explaining as we encounter more beasts," I said with a giddy smirk.
"I kinda don't want to hear it anymore." I think Eric said something like that, but he wouldn't dare to not listen, right? Especially not if he is the ET! We came across a few flying bat-like beasts on one islet. We stayed out of their range so that I could explain.
"Look, Eric. As you already know, mages arrange magic in different sequences and patterns to invoke spells. These sequences and patterns become more and more complex and precise with each different grade." Nea produced some flames and a gust of wind on her palm.
"Yup, and when you have to invoke spells either, at a later time, without being able to maintain a magic supply, or on a large scale..." Eric interrupted me and picked a rock. He clutched it tightly, and the rock glowed a rainbow hue. He slowly opened his palm, revealing the dozens of markings on the rock. Speaking in a slow tone, he said. "You use enchant objects, use engravings..."
"Exactly. Now, tell me, great ET. What is the most important thing in an enchantment? Is it the object? Or the engraving?"
"It's the pattern. The pattern activates the enchantment, just like a spell"
I leaned slightly back and spread my arms out. With the cheekiest smile I could muster, I spoke.
"Can't you, then, create the patterns with a smaller spell?"
"...Oh, damn... You mean to say, when she swung her leg, or when that strand of lightning went into the air, she was arranging them in patterns and then...?"
Oh yes, my favorite part! My excitement grew with my smile. I was practically jumping up. "YES! This is a unique form of magic—"
"—that only I can perform!! I CALL IT! MAGICAL AMPLIFICATION!"
"YOU BITCH! How dare you steal the best part!!"

What happened next is a blur to me. It involved me getting angry. The beasts noticing us. And a lot of running away. That's about all I could recall.
When my head was clear again, we were at the other end of the lake and it was already dark. We found a cave-like depression at the other end and rested up there for the night. Apparently, Eric was so impressed that he couldn't stop talking about the method while running away from an onslaught of beasts. He also lost his shirt and was almost eaten by the Silcat. Really, what happened when I was angry?!
"Man, I've come far to sleep in a dungeon, eh?" Eric said as we set camp.
"Well, that was random."
"Also, you don't get to sleep just yet."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, I fought the whole day, and Ivan screamed the whole day. You are taking the first watch," Nea bluntly laid out.
"Oh... Just the first one, right?"
