I bent down and picked up the golden-hued stone by my feet. The pocket watch in my hand buzzed like a wild bee. My hand quivered to keep it under control until the rainbow stone calmed down. The chaotic aquarium immediately went still as I raised my head.
"Ivan...?" a small voice called out from behind me. I turned around and met the very familiar whitish-pink eyes of my companion. Her pupils quaked and her lips trembled. "W... wh... what's with... your face?"
"Oh dear, is something on it?" I asked back with a smile. My mood was simply too good to notice her scared state. "Let's get out of here... I have finally found it." I nudged Nea while flaunting the stone in my hand. Weirdly enough, she didn't look like she would move. So I grabbed her hand and dragged her back to the hotel.
The bustling city around me was like the spark of new beginnings. No matter how many times I see it, this surreal sight would never become the standard. Something was always new in this place. We passed through the performing actors and the singing musicians around the dozens of saloons and inns, each filled with hearty youth. Crossing the bridge from the commercial sector to the residential one.
We soon arrived at the hotel. The staff at the front desk blushed wildly when they looked at us. I don't think my looks were enough to warrant such an intense reaction? "Ah, Sir, Mam. We have been trying to reach you for a while now," said one employee, shifting her eyes all around the place. "But, I guess you were busy with each other..." the employee continued. Their voice was as low as a whisper by the end.
Why even say it if you can't do it properly — Wait! What do these guys think we are doing all day?!
"What is it?" I said with twitching cheeks.
"Yes! You received a letter!" The employee reached under their desk and handed me an envelope. I nodded and walked towards the lift, still dragging Nea along. I opened the envelope and pulled out the letter.
The president wanted to meet us tomorrow...
It looks like I won't be getting sleep again today...

[Morning. Residential.
Xeonodan. Kapustin Illych]
The smell of coffee wafted through the air. I would start each day by reading the newspaper, along with a cup of coffee. It was important to know what was happening in my nation, after all.
The man who stood against all odds. I am the very reason this stupid country isn't in the hands of the merchants of Atirior. The word president is a keepsake! I am the king of this country! It moves when I want it to and stops when I want it to!
Knowing who I am, some fuckers blew up the best train in my country? And not only did they destroy the train, but my stupid son was also almost killed too!! How dare they think they can sully my name by killing my blood? Unforgivable!
My name was not brought down, thanks to some odd couple from the boonies. It was natural that I should at least thank them for their service. So, I arranged a meeting with them. I pushed it back by a week, but just meeting me is already a great honor for some random no-names.
Look at this. It's already time to get to work. There were many places I had to go to today. Going down to the car, I could see my secretary and driver already waiting for me. A lot of work was to be done. Today will be another long day in my long life!
