The Maw's hangar was located towards the bottom, with a small opening in the floor. Should the need arise, more space could be opened to deploy more fighters but there was always at least a slight opening active, just on the off chance that something had happened that meant ships needed to get in or out but the doors that blocked the space couldn't be moved. It was protected from the harsh vacuum of space by what was known as a molecular energy field, an energy powered field that set a barrier between the inside and outside of the ship, preventing any of the precious air contained inside from slipping out and exposing those on board to the harsh nature of the void outside.
