Sighing out, Eric slowed down the car's speed and turned to look at Vilian. She was gazing out of the windshield in deep thought. He cleared his throat, trying to gain her attention as he mustered himself to speak.
"Vilia-"
"Can you not say my name?" she interrupted but didn't look at him.
"Okay, but I need you to listen to me," he said, but there was no response. He took it as an opportunity and spoke, "I... I. Will you please forgive me f-for what I did back then? I know it's pretty much hard for you to do that..." he didn't know how to form the words, but he still tried. She didn't react. "It's-"
A low chuckle escaped Vilian's lips causing him to stop what he was to say.
"Please, try to understand-"
"Understand?" she questioned mockingly as she glanced at him with a smirk. A look that sent had the chills run down his spine. He didn't know why but felt the temperature had dropped down suddenly. It felt chilly. She didn't seem to look the same as she was a few minutes ago.
Fear crept into his skin. Just who was she? Her eyes held no life. It seemed to look deadly.
"Vi-vilian... I didn't mean to. I mean, I'm s-sorry... I didn't-"
"Oh, sorry?" she questioned as she leaned closer with her bloodshot eyes. Eric backend in slight fear. "Sorry, you say?" she questioned once again, and she started to laugh hysterically. "Do you even know what that means?" Eric was mute. He didn't know what to say. "How would you know..." she tilted her head and looked at him. A crazed look.
Eric moved his hands forward toward her shoulder to convince her. But before he could reach out, Vilian had sensed it. She held his wrist tight and strongly.
Vilian didn't know what got into her, but she suddenly felt so strong and the feeling of revenge and death overtook her. She was no longer in her conscious mind. "Sorry was the least that I expected to hear from that filthy mouth of yours. The very mouth that left those ugly marks on my body," she whispered so lowly.
"Vili-"
"SHUT. THE. HELL!!! DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH OF A FUCKING MONSTER YOU ARE?" She yelled with rage and hatred toward the man right in front of her, "...and..." leaning a little closer, she turned and twisted his hand, earning low and painful grunts from him, but she didn't stop there. Eric was shocked. He could do nothing but grunt in pain.
"Stop!!! Please..." he begged and heard her laugh maniacally.
"Awe... Does it hurt?" she questioned with a worried look as she ran her fingers over his face slowly, slid down to his neck, and held it as she gritted her teeth. Gone were the worried look replaced with pure hatred. "Didn't I beg you than this? HUH?!!!" She questioned the latter as she shook him. "A FUCKING MONSTER LIKE YOU DESERVES NOTHING LESS THAN A HELL!" She screamed in a high-pitched voice. Eric winced and hissed. She pulled him from his collar and gazed at him coldly.
"Leave..." he whispered.
"YOU FREAKING ANIMAL!!! STOP THE CAR BEFORE I STRANGLE YOU TO DEATH!!!" She yelled as she strangled him, digging her nails deeply into his skin. Blood trickled down slowly, staining his white sweater.
Eric lost his clutch over the steering wheel as he struggled to breathe and release the grip around his neck. He could not do anything but step on the break. Due to the car's slow pacing, it did nothing to make them fall forward.
Vilian released her grip soon after the car stopped and left the car, grabbing her purse, not once glancing back at him. Eric called her as he coughed profusely, but she had left the car. He got off the car and ran after her.
"It's too dark, Vilian. Please get in the car. It's not safe," he tried to convince her, only to hear her laugh mockingly at him.
"How ironic? So you say I'd be safe around a rapist?" she laughed out loud. Eric held her hand and pulled her closer to him, resulting in her crashing into him. "Let go of me, you freaking rapist!" she spat as she jerked her hands off him. The people around them gazed at them strangely as they thought of involving themself or not. Eric had no choice but to let her go.
Vilian crossed the road and walked toward a nearby shop as she dialed Mia. It took a while for the call to get connected.
[ "Vilia-" ]
"Are you at home ?" questioned Vilian, not waiting for her to speak.
["Why yes? What's the-"]
"Wait for me at the back door," said Vilian, and as soon as she said it, she ended the call and switched it off. Spotting a taxi on the street she waved it to stop. As soon as she saw the taxi stationed, she got into the vehicle and directed the driver to her stop.
It took her about fifteen minutes to reach in front of the tall rocky wall. Her ride toward it was swirling with the thoughts of her past and the incident that had happened a while ago. The taxi driver's gruff voice steered her from the deep trance.
She wiped off the tears that slid and wet her sweater against her will. Taking a deep breath, she got off the car and paid the driver a hefty amount mindlessly. Spotting her friend wrapped up in a woolen cloak, she walked toward her. Underneath her cloak, the cream camisole peeked slightly giving her the idea that she was already dressed up in her sleepwear, preparing herself to get into her bed, or worst she must be on her bed already if not for her call.
As soon as Mia took in her appearance, she gasped out loud in utter shock. She had a tear-stricken face.
"Wha-"
"Not now, Mia," came the low voice of Vilian that made Mia feel more worried about her. "Just help me get to your room," she said tiredly. Mia nodded her head soon after that. She mumbled worried as she helped her sneak into her room, trying not to wake anyone by any chance. Luckily, it was late at night. Therefore, her parents and that annoying elder brother had gone to their respective rooms.
Probably, the workers might have settled in their rooms too, probed Mia as they tried so hard not to make a sound walking over the flight of stairs that led straightly toward her room which is located right after the stairs.
Both the girls settled on the bouncy bed as they sighed out loud. Mia waited for her to spill it out already, but seems like the time never came, so she thought of breaking the silence, "What happened? Why do I happen to see you with a tear-striking face?" she questioned, but there was no response. Vilian was long into a deep trance. Mia tilted her head as she supported her chin over her palm that rested above her lap.
Silence.
Mia took Vilian's hand and held it as she rested above her lap and squeezed lightly, breaking Vilian's trance. She snapped her head toward Mia blankly. "You know you can trust me, right? What is it that's bothering you? At least, you could let me know the reason why you're crying?" Mia tried convincing her but felt herself breaking down with hurt.
Why is she acting up so unlikely of herself lately? Does it relate to the thing that she's been hiding from me? Does she not trust me? Questions after questions ate her mind.
"Please..." a light whisper of pleading left Mia's lips. She felt her eyes sting. Sensing the situation she was creating, she felt sorry and hugged Mia immediately.
"I'm sorry... Mia... I'm so sorry..." She broke down in tears, hugging her tightly as she spoke in a low voice. "I've been hiding something very deep from you..." She quirked and wiped her wet face roughly.
"I know..." said Mia, but it didn't register in her properly.
"From the very first- What?" She questioned as she broke their hug. "What do you mean you know?" She questioned, her eyes widening unexpectantly.
"I know you've been hiding from the very beginning, and isn't that the reason that's making you feel so paranoid?" Mia questioned hesitantly, not sure of what she was saying. She saw Vilian nod her head slowly but didn't look straight into her eyes.
Guilt was clearly visible.
Was it that obvious? thought Vilian.
"You need not tell me about it right away, but remember I'll always be there for you... You know I can beat anyone into a pulp..." She said the latter as she winked at her. "Just name them, and I'll bring them onto your knee. A vamp trick," she said as she grinned.
"You mean hypnotizing?" questioned Vilian.
"Exactly!" she screamed a little louder out of excitement and hit her mouth immediately.
"SHUT. THE. CRAP. YOU. FAT. BABOON!" a muffled yell came from the other side of the wall. "Some of us are trying to sleep! Uhh!!! She's never gonna stop talking in her sleep!"
Both Mia and Vilian gazed at the opposite wall, and they burst out giggling.
"SHH!!" Vilian shushed placing her hand on Mia's mouth, but could not stop giggling silently. Mia's brother's room was right next to hers, so anything louder would reach the room. Vilian hugged her friend once more, thanking her for understanding her all these years and respecting her little privacy.
