The group walked back, surrounded by utter silence. To Alric, the scenery felt too surreal. He knew what the streets looked like, packed with people reeking of food and sweat. The blinding neon lights and bright advertisements played on loop. Music blasting from everywhere, melting into a cacophony.
But now, there was nothing. Street lamps fizzed as they desperately tried to illuminate their surroundings. Windows smashed. Corpses of those who were not fortunate enough to run away. And only the footsteps of the group echoed within the valley of deserted buildings. Alric wanted to curse, to shout, but he bit on his lips to hold himself back. Fiera reached for his shoulder, a sad smile painted on her lips. He understood full well that she felt similar about seeing her hometown being recked. If he could only tap into his funds, rebuilding Pride Town would not be an issue. Alas, the prospect of returning to The Heaven ever again seemed to grow further and further away.
