Just as he had expected, Alric broke free from his self-afflicted spell and decided to look out the window instead. Below, the city lights were flickering violently. In the distance, flames shot into the night sky. Even though they were up here, he could hear gun fights, cars screeching, and people screaming unintelligible words. How had this situation escalated so quickly?
