(Hazel POV)
This morning, all of us had decided ahead of time that we will wake up before master does. It wasn't all that hard. I can just wake myself up anytime I want.
The problem was Aura. She has trouble waking up. Even her daughter, Eden, wakes up earlier than her. Fiona and Fay are used to waking up early. It didn't cause any trouble for us.
I did have to drag Aura out of her bed though. We were all assembled before 6 in the morning.
Since master is asleep on the sofa, we did not loiter around the dining hall. We all went to Fiona's room for a chat.
"Hazel, what do you think?" (Aura)
"I think master is hiding something. From all of us. He disappeared last night all of a sudden and came back late. Where did he go?"
Everyone thinks. I have been together with master the longest. But even I cannot understand what he thinks.
"Then, why don't we bait him?" (Fay)
"Bait? How do we even bait him?"
"Just be as oblivious as we can. He probably thinks that we didn't notice anything. Let's keep acting like that." (Fay)
That's a solid idea. Eden gave us an explanation on how master does not pay attention to anything he isn't interested in. Eden sure does observe master a lot.
And it was decided that we would keep acting oblivious in order to lure master. Fiona agreed to help us as well. Because, someone is always watching us. That mysterious woman who calls herself System claimed that she is always watching us.
She probably gives master information as well. So, we need to be extra careful.
We all decided what we would do for the day. I teamed up with Fay to complete a job. I am a registered adventurer. I should do the job too. Fay will be my guide.
Aura and Eden are going to scout the city. Eden was interested in books. So Fiona wrote her a letter of recommendation. Her acquaintance owns a book shop so Eden can borrow books from there.
Aura said that she wanted to learn more about humans. That's why they left together. Fiona cooked up a storm and packed us lunches. She even left a huge pile of breakfast for master.
Lastly, Fay wrote a note and we all signed it. Master would not worry about us that way.
This happened this morning. It's almost evening now. I went to the guild in the morning to accept a job.
I have registered as an adventurer and the one in charge of me is Ms. Maria. Fay knows her. Fay recommended me and I was accepted without an issue.
I started out as an F rank. This was suggested by Fay. Master became a B rank as soon as he registered. Fay wanted to avoid more trouble so I complied with her request. Besides, I am not good with attention.
As an F rank adventurer, I am asked to do menial tasks like collecting herbs or scouting the area for food and other stuff. I have seen courier jobs as well.
The job I took was a herb collection job but, the amount is nothing to scoff at. What are they going to do with this much?
It doesn't really matter. I just need to collect those herbs. Fay did help me but her strength is insufficient. I told her to rest while I do the job.
That was what it was supposed to be. Yet, we got into trouble. A bunch of monsters had already surrounded us. This was a simple request and the location isn't taht away from the city gate. I let my guard down.
"What do we do? Those are Neckrow. It's problematic." (Fay)
Fay has a really sour face. Are these monsters that troublesome?
I take a fighting stance. Master did train me a bit. However, knowledge keeps flowing inside of me. I picked up some fighting techniques on my own.
These are bipedal monsters. They look like crows that are big but they have a longer neck like ostriches.
About 7 of them are surrounding us. Fay hasn't moved yet.
"Are those troublesome?"
"Alone, they are weak. But when they attack with numbers, things get dicey. They all use a combination magic. It can trap us using binding magic. Their affinity with earth is troublesome as well." (Fay)
I think I should deal with it like master does. I use my mana to enhance my body and start building up my strength.
The power release is a skill that lets me concentrate my strength and use it. Like, I can focus a portion of my strength on my fists and punch with it. It's pretty simple and yet the power can be devastating.
I tried it once when no one was looking. It was devastating.
I encased my fists with my strength and rush towards one of those. I think I am faster than those.
I won't go more into details. I just decimated those. Fay wasn't even stunned.
Fay said that we don't have drag those back. Fay just burned those corpses.
I reported to the guild in the evening. They paid me extra for bringing more than required.
We decided to go home. On our way, we met Aura and Eden. Aura was hauling a big luggage.
"What are those?"
"Eden got a little too into reading. She was reading books all day long and when the shop was closing, she decided to bring those home." (Aura)
Aura sighed. Eden did like books. That's why master would often read her various books and explain things she didn't understand. Now, she is a total bookworm.
We all went home together. Master should be at home.
When Fay opened the door, we all were greeted with a scene that could be mistaken for a funeral.
Master was gloomy. Aera, Aegis, Doris and Amaryllis were circling master. All of them were also not very cheerful.
We decided to go in and close the door. Aura hauled the luggage to their room and came back.
"Master, what is the matter?"
I asked. Master looks at me and sighs.
"Hazel, how would you feel if I get a sister?" (Master)
I did not understand his question.
"My bad. Sorry, this was too sudden." (Master)
"Honey, you look like the world just ended. What happened actually?" (Aura)
"When I was completing a job, System suddenly called me. And a certain news was dropped like bombshell." (Master)
He was out completing a job? I will ask about it later. But what news could possibly make master this depressed?
"She said that I am becoming a big brother." (Master)
His tone drops. He becomes even more depressed. But is it that bad? He is getting a sibling. Shouldn't he be happy about it?
"Clive, I think I understand what you are trying to say. But give up. Having another sibling isn't a big deal." (Fay)
"You already have 15. Of course it isn't a big deal." (Master)
Master and Fay started bickering about siblings and family. I asked Aera.
"What is the situation?"
"Master has contacted his parents. They are coming. That's why he went ahead and bought some groceries. Anyway, master needs to have a talk with his parents." (Aera)
So his parents are coming. I haven't seen them since the lunch we had when we got here. If master is going to get another sibling, shouldn't we celebrate?
We are getting a brother or sister. It'll be fine. Master aside, no one is making a big deal out of this. I think, master is just being childish now that he is getting another sibling.
