Chương 19: Chapter 19 She Enjoyed the Meal Too Much
Cheng Lu was completely smitten by her adorably cute appearance. Cheng Lu had always been a proponent of not getting married and had never considered having children, but now she found herself wanting to get married and have a daughter!
If her daughter was as cute as Little Taotie, she'd definitely be a crazy doting parent.
"Are you hungry? Here, have a chicken leg!" Cheng Lu offered her a chicken leg.
Tao Ti politely said thank you and started eating with her head down.
The door to the private room opened and the camera operator, carrying his camera, came in. The scent of the food made him feel that this shoot was going to be a torture for him.
"Why are you here?" King of Film Xu frowned at him.
The camera operator gave a wry smile: "The director asked me to follow the shoot. I didn't want to either."
"I won't shoot," King of Film Xu's face was not looking good.
Actually, he had a serious case of anorexia. On screen, he appeared to be looking forward to eating after completing tasks, but in reality, he did not want to eat at all.
Nobody outside knew about his anorexia, but now with the camera pointed at him, it was hard not to expose it.
The camera operator put his hands together, pleadingly, "Please, don't make it hard for me!"
King of Film Xu stood up, as if he was about to leave, but Cheng Lu grabbed him and shook her head: "Don't go."
King of Film Xu looked deeply into Cheng Lu's eyes and lowered his voice, "You should know what my situation is."
Cheng Lu had worked with King of Film Xu many times. He always played the male protagonist and Cheng Lu was always a minor character. Even so, after spending a lot of time in the same drama crew, she would inevitably learn some private matters that others didn't know about, like the severe anorexia of King of Film Xu.
Cheng Lu looked at the camera operator with a defeated expression, "Just aim your camera at me and Little Taotie, try not to capture him."
The camera operator, afraid of offending King of Film Xu, agreed quickly as he nodded, "Okay, I'll focus the main camera on you and Little Taotie. If I need to shoot a wide shot, I will signal to you."
King of Film Xu reluctantly sat back down.
While the three were talking, Tao Ti just focused on eating.
Half of the chicken had been eaten already; the remaining half was left deliberately by Tao Ti, who was restraining herself, saving it for Mother Cheng and Father Xu.
When Cheng Lu saw that she wasn't eating anymore and was just staring blankly at the half chicken, she asked with a smile, "Why aren't you eating?"
"You haven't eaten yet. Good kids don't hog the food."
"You're so well-behaved! Here, a chicken leg for you as a reward!" Cheng Lu picked up another chicken leg for her.
The door to the private room was pushed open again, and two more dishes and a soup arrived.
Steamed pomfret, stir-fried asparagus with shrimp, and a bowl of West Lake beef soup.
Tao Ti was enjoying her food; she cherished it and didn't make a mess like some children do.
With her cheeks puffed out, she chewed like a little chipmunk.
Her big eyes would suddenly light up when she tasted something delicious, like stars suddenly shining in the dark.
King of Film Xu didn't have much of an appetite, nor anything else to do, so he just watched her.
As he watched, he began to feel a bit hungry.
Hungry? What a foreign word to him.
How long had it been since he'd thought of that word?
Under Cheng Lu's astonished gaze, King of Film Xu picked up a piece of the pomfret. Soon after, he picked up a shrimp...
His chopsticks never rested after that.
The dishes and soup on the table were almost finished, and Tao Ti wanted to control her appetite, but her stomach was not cooperating and growled, "Gurgle...".
Cheng Lu couldn't believe it: "You're not full?"
Tao Ti hesitated, unsure of how to respond, and bashfully hung her head down.
King of Film Xu called over the server in ancient costume and ordered five more dishes.
Cheng Lu whispered, "Isn't that too much?"
King of Film Xu laughed, "Are you trying to save money for the show?"
Thinking of the difficult task set by the show, and that without Little Taotie they would have definitely failed the mission, Cheng Lu took the menu and added the most expensive dish.
Cheng Lu spoke in a hushed voice, almost whispering, "What's going on with you? You don't have to do this just for the show, do you?"
King of Film Xu glanced at Tao Ti and replied softly, "Initially, I had no appetite at all, but seeing her enjoying her meal made me curious. I couldn't help but want to see what made it so delicious that she'd delight in it so much."
Once the six dishes were served, Tao Ti cheered and dug in heartily.
Cheng Lu was already full, so she enthusiastically fed Little Taotie, piling up her little bowl high.
It had been a long time since King of Film Xu had eaten so much, the feeling of fullness was unfamiliar to him, yet it made him quite happy.
