"I am a rabbit."
~
Cele was shocked only momentarily before he cocked an amused brow, suppressing a grin. Yes, this was a very precarious time, especially for Heiko to be conjuring such blatant brazenness, but what absolute audacity.
“My dear child.” The male prestu exhaled an unsure chuckle. “That is... but a metaphor.”
“Is it?” Heiko asked.
Prestu Alessa plastered on a disingenuously warm smile. “This supposed Muse of Temperance is not as wise as he ought to be, no?”
Like an infernal mirror, the prince reflected her expression, right down to the deprecating simper.
“Prestu Alessa, this Muse of Temperance has been spoken to. ‘A rabbit, my rabbit,’ this is what my master has proclaimed.”
Cele arched his brow in alarm and did his very best to correct it before anyone else saw it as incriminating.
Was that true, the general wondered? Not that the god spoke to Heiko - of course - but rather that he truly believed such? That a god actually whispered in his ear?
