Elsie's Point of View
Subsequent meetings at Clayton's went smoothly because I didn't get bored. I'd told Jace I'd go and come home alone, but he insisted on taking me to pick me up. The reason is classic; she says worry I m having bad things. Oh, I'm reminded of Jeff's story about his girlfriend who was murdered by an enemy of the Bryant family. No wonder Jace has been acting protective lately.
While waiting for Jace to pick me up, Jeff accompanied me. I spent half an hour in the children's room teaching them to play the violin and cello. Jeff's closeness to Roxie often caught my attention. I can't stop smiling at the things they do.
I was distracted when my cell phone rang. I glanced at the Mickey Mouse-shaped clock on the chalkboard. It's one o'clock. At the same time, I reached into my jeans pocket, looking for my cell phone and looking at the display. I thought it was Jace, but it was Isabelle who called.
"Hey, Babe!" he shouted from inside.
