Chương 469: I know
Lia did not know what to say at all... she just looked at her mother, it was clear that she was crying, and it made Lia want to cry, she could count on one hand how many times in her life that she had seen her mother cry in front of her, and it just made her feel terrible that she was the reason her mother was crying.
It was all her fault, she was such a terrible daughter that she was a disgrace to the woman that suffered so much for her... she did not know how she could show how sorry she was, it was just too much for her to handle.
She could see all the pain and hurt that her mother was trying to conceal but it was definitely showing, you could not imagine how bad she wanted to walk to her mother and give her a huge hug and tell her that she was so sorry, and that she missed her, but it would be impossible now.
Her mother was not usually an angry woman, but when she got angry, she could act in ways that you thought she would not be capable of doing.
"Mom I... I... I want to talk to you..." said Lia as Alyssa scoffed as she wiped down the kitchen counter where the sink was.
"You have never had any problem talking before, I don't know what's stopping you, just know that it is because of your father that I have not thrown you our already" said Alyssa harshly as she refused to look at Lia, she did not want to look at the face of her daughter that had done nothing but cause her extreme pain and sadness in the last twenty four hours.
"I just want you to give me a chance mom, allow me talk, let me tell you everything, please just listen to me, I beg you" said Lia as she pleaded and Alyssa said nothing as she continued on cleaning the kitchen as if Lia was not in the room.
Lia sighed, if this was the best her mother could give her, then she would take it no complains at all... knowing her if she had not already walked out of here in anger, then she was definitely giving her a chance.
"Mom I know that there is nothing I can say to undo the hurt I did to everyone that loves me... I know that I was stupid and insensitive and selfish because my actions all do not say otherwise..." said Lia as she remembered that Pete told her that honesty was all that matters most.
"I know that I am a spoilt pampered brat that has always gotten her way, and I know that you tried so hard to raise me better and instill me with good morals and values, and although it does not look like it, I did keep everything you taught me to heart... I just didn't obey them as I should..." said Lia as she looked down.
"Am I proud of what I did? No, definitely not... if anything it hurts me more seeing all the pain I caused and all for what? Just because I was selfish and inconsiderate to the feelings of others..." said Lia.
"Mom... I know that everything I am telling you, you could not care less about because the damage has already been done..." said Lia.
"But all I want you to know is that I am sorry... I am sorry for not being the daughter you wanted, I am sorry for not being the woman you raised properly, and most of all I am sorry for making you cry because I know you have given up a lot of things just because of me, and I have never appreciated you for it before, but I am saying it now, thank you for everything you've done for me mom, because if you hadn't made those sacrifices, my life wouldn't have been the way it is now" said Lia as Alyssa was silent.
"I know that my few words cannot compare to what I did... and I know that it won't fix or change anything... I just want you to know that I am sorry, I have learnt my lesson, I promise to do better, to try to fix things, and even though you might never forgive me, I want you to know that I love you and I understand why..." said Lia.
"I love you mom... I can't remember the last time I said those words to you, meaning it with my whole heart, but it's true, I love you mom, and I am ready to do anything, even moving out and giving you the space you need, just for you to see how sorry I am, and consider forgiving me, even a little bit" said Lia as she was done, that was all she could say, she did not know if there was something more she could add, but she believed that was what was in her heart, and she was happy with herself because those were the most heartfelt meaningful words she had ever said to anyone, in her entire life.
Lia just stood there as there was nothing but silence, Lia was sure that if not she could see her mother's feet on the ground, she would have thought that her mother had left the kitchen by now.
Lia was about to turn and leave when she heard Alyssa's footsteps approaching her and she could feel shivers run down her spine due to fear, she braced herself for whatever was to come as instead of feeling pain or hearing the sound of yelling she felt the soft warm embrace of her mother as Lia just melted as she started to cry.
"I'm so sorry mom, so sorry" she said as she cried like a baby, she thought that she was calm, but she lost all calmness once she felt her mother hug her so tenderly, so understandingly so forgivingly. she could not help it.
"No, I'm sorry... I'm sorry for being so inconsiderate and mean" said Alyssa as she was crying, to be honest, Lia's words would not have affected her if it wasn't for the words Pete said earlier. He was right... the past was in the past, and they had to work towards the future, towards fixing things and not destroying them further.
"I am sorry for all the mean things I said, I didn't mean them, you're my daughter and I love you, I can never disown you, never" said Alyssa as she cried, meaning her words with every fibre of her being, she was her mother, and she was angry yes, but that didn't mean she should just throw out a child she suffered so much for, she had to correct her yes, but correct her in love not push her away.
"Oh mom" said Lia as she cried and held onto her mother tightly.
"I promise you, I will do anything I can to fix things, anything you want, I promise" said Lia as she cried.
"It's fine sweetie, it's fine, we don't need to talk about that now, that can wait" said Alyssa as she sniffed, it was clear that their family still had a lot of unresolved issues lingering, but there would be time later to confront them.
This incident had been an eye opener for Alyssa... all these years that she thought she had been protecting Lia by hiding certain things from her did nothing but bring hurt... after all, even though she and Cecil never directly told her to do what she did, there were signs of her loneliness that they both missed, they thought everything was fine when it wasn't.
"Right now, I just want you to know that I'm sorry and please forgive me, and ask Peter to please forgive me as well, because he is a guest and this was not my finest hour I admit, he must think that I am a deranged woman" said Alyssa as she laughed while crying.
"No mom he doesn't think that, he understands, and I don't need to forgive you, I'm just glad that you're no more upset with me, because I couldn't take it when you were" said Lia as she laughed and sniffed.
"It's alright now, everything is fine" said Alyssa as she gave Lia a kiss on the forehead and Lia smiled, words could not explain how relieved and glad she was that her mother was back to being her mother, she could not express how thankful she was.

Natasha sighed as she finally got out of bed, brushed her teeth and took a shower, she decided that there was no point staying in bed, it was doing her no good.
Natasha sat down on her bed as she decided to answer some of the missed calls she had yesterday.
Natasha frowned as she suddenly remembered that she had received a call from Agent Dians that she did not want to answer at the moment, she wondered why he was calling her, it had to be something very important for him to call her suddenly out of nowhere, so she decided to call him back.
Natasha put her phone to her ear as she heard it ring and after a few moments her call was answered.
"Hello agent Dians" she said.
"Ahhh hello to you too Natasha, guess who finally decided to answer my calls" came Dians' all too suspiciously happy voice from the other side of the line.
