"Is something wrong?" asked Pete as he noticed Lia frowning deeply as she looked at her phone.
"No... not really... It's just my daddy sent me a text that he's feeling a bit under the weather" said Lia as she sighed.
"Is it serious?" asked Pete in worry as he glanced at her and quickly returned his eyes back to the road while she shook her head.
"I don't really think so, he must have skipped breakfast or something, he sometimes feels unwell when he doesn't eat at the proper time" said Lia as she tisked and typed a message on her phone.
"Are you sure?" asked Pete.
"I mean, I think I am, I left home pretty early this morning, I don't know if he has eaten yet, let me ask him" said Lia as she sent her father a message.
"What if he has eaten and he feels unwell?" asked Pete.
"Then I would worry because something is definitely wrong" said Lia as she frowned.
"If you're going to be very worried, we can turn back and I can drive you home so you can check on him" said Pete as he really didn't care about their date, they could go on a date some other time, if she was worried, she wouldn't be able to enjoy their date.
"No, No, I'm not worried at all, my daddy will be fine, my mom is over there with him" said Lia as she looked at Pete.
"There's no reason for us to postpone our date over something that is not that serious at all" said Lia.
"Are you sure Lia? Because I do not want you worried while we are on our date, you won't be able to enjoy it if you're worried" said Pete as his sweet words made Lia smile, she had forgotten how sweet and considerate he could be.
"Yes I'm sure Peter, I'm not worried at all, it's sweet for you to think about me so considerately" said Lia as she smiled, she wanted to give him a kiss on the cheek, but he was busy driving and she didn't want to distract him, that was too dangerous.
"Of course I do, I care about you" replied Pete as he smiled and Lia reached out to hold his free hand.
"I like that you care about me, and I've been waiting all week for this date, nothing is going to stop me from seeing your surprise" said Lia as Pete laughed, of course ultimately she was concerned about the surprise.
"Right, the surprise" said Pete as he laughed.
"I mean, we have been driving for almost an hour now, and still yet we don't seem to have gotten to your surprise yet" said Lia as she laughed.
"I'm starting to get suspicious, are you actually taking me on a date or kidnapping me?" asked Lia as Pete laughed, her mind was wonderfully funny.
"And what if I am Cecilia, maybe I am" said Pete as he laughed and he looked at her and winked.
"Why are you kidnapping me then officer?" asked Lia as she laughed.
"You are guilty of being the most beautiful woman I've ever seen" said Pete as he winked and Lia laughed in embarrassment.
"Stop it Peter, you're making me blush" said Lia as she laughed sheepishly, she wasn't used to such cheesy compliments.
"Oh I'm sure a pretty woman like you is used to such compliments" said Pete as he laughed.
"Well not really" said Lia as she smiled.
"You've got to be kidding" said Pete as he didn't look like he believed it at all.
"Well yes, I mean I have been complimented before by many men, but they were all strangers, it didn't mean anything, I've never be complimented by someone a like, it makes it have more meaning" said Lia as she smiled and she rubbed his hand.
"So thank you for complimenting me" said Lia as she smiled and Pete smiled.
"And are we there yet?" asked Lia as she turned her attention back to the road, there were few cars that seemed to be heading in the same direction as them.
"Actually we are" replied Pete with a smile as he turned to the right and Lia could not contain her excitement as she looked out the window, she couldn't see anything definite except for a bunch of houses.
"Is this your surprise?" asked Lia in uncertainty as she turned to look at him, she didn't mean to sound ungrateful, but this place looked bland, she was starting to wonder what the point of driving all the way here was.
"No we aren't at my surprise yet" said Pete as he parked the car.
"Oh thank goodness" said Lia out loud in relief accidentally as Pete laughed, he knew she would be fooled by this place.
"I know, this would be a rather very boring surprise, and I did promise you a beautiful place where you can take lovely photos" said Pete as he smiled and Lia smiled before grabbing her handbag.
"But first before that, I need you to put this blindfold on and then I will lead you to your surprise" said Pete as he handed her a black blindfold as she collected it from him and she looked at it and them at him.
"This better be a really good surprise Peter" said Lia as she put on the blindfold and Pete chuckled.
"It will be, trust me" said Pete as he got out of the car and walked to the other side of the car to open the door for Lia as he led her out of the car.
"Alright, now stay close to me, and be careful so you don't trip" said Pete as Lia nodded and he held her hand and started leading her from the parking lot past all the houses.
"Gosh it's really hot here Peter" said Lia as she could feel herself sweating from the hot rays of the sun.
"I know, but we'll be there soon" said Pete as he continued walking and leading Lia making sure that she did not trip.
Suddenly, as Lia was getting tired of all the walking, she felt her mid heels dig right into what felt like sand, which made her frown, just where were they going?
As Lia was trying to figure out where exactly they were, she started to hear the sound of the sea, she could feel an appearing cool breeze, and she could smell the fresh sea scent, she knew where they were.
"Are we at the beach??!" asked Lia as she turned to look at Pete even with her blindfold on.
"I knew I should have gotten you nose plugs, but yes, we are at the sea" said Pete as he laughed, it was hard not to notice, the fresh sea breeze was hard to miss.
"Oh my goodness, this is really a surprise, I would have never expected the sea" said Lia as she laughed and Pete continued leading her to a secluded spot on the beach where he had prepared a special picnic for the both of them.
"I knew you wouldn't" said Pete as he laughed, he was happy that he had managed to surprise her.
"Watch your step" said Pete as he led her over some rocks and they stopped in front of his surprise as he removed her blindfold and Lia's eyes landed on the wonderfully set picnic in front of them that looked too good to be true.
"You prepared all of this?" asked Lia as she turned to look at him in surprise as he nodded.
"Yes I did, with a little help of course, there's a resort nearby, I asked them to set this up for the both of us" said Pete as he smiled and Lia was speechless, this was the most wonderful thing anyone had ever planned for her, this place was just so peaceful and beautiful and to top it all off, they had a very pleasant view of the sea.
"Oh Peter, this is wonderful" said Lia as she was excited.
"Are you surprised? Do you like it?" asked Pete as he smiled.
"Of course I am surprised, and of course I like it, is that even a question?" asked Lia as she hugged him and Pete smiled.
"Thank you for this Peter, thank you" said Lia with a sincere smile on her face.
"Wait, I still have one more thing for you" said Pete as he broke their hug and walked to the picnic blanket and brought out something from the basket.
"A hat for you, and sunscreen, so we don't get sunburnt out here" said Pete as he placed a pink sunhat on her head and a blue one on his head and he handed her a bottle of sunscreen.
"You really thought of everything Peter, I even forgot about that" said Lia as she laughed and Pete laughed.
"Come on let's sit down and enjoy our date" said Pete as he removed his shoes and sat down.
"Of course" said Lia as she did the same and sat next to him.
"I ordered the resort's restaurant menu, I've heard it's really good" said Pete as he unpacked the foot from the basket as he heard the click of a camera and he looked at Lia who had just taken a picture of him.
"I told you that you would be able to take beautiful pictures here" said Pete as he smiled and Lia turned to their view of the sea as she took a picture of that as well.
"And now I believe you" said Lia as she leaned in and gave him a quick kiss.
"You don't disappoint Peter" said Lia as she smiled and Pete smiled.
"That I don't, I'm just glad you like it" said Pete.
"I love it, the hour long drive over here was definitely worth it" said Lia as they both laughed and she took some more pictures before she joined Pete to eat.
After a wonderful early lunch and several pictures of the sea, the sky, the sand and even a little cute crab, Pete and Lia laid on their picnic blanket staring into the clear blue sky. They were in a comfortable silence, when Pete glanced at Lia, wanting to say something.
"*Ahem*, Lia, I have something to tell you" said Pete as he cleared his throat and Lia looked at him.
"Sure, what is it?" she asked with a bright smile, she was having a wonderful time here.
Pete on the other hand looked sort of nervous and hesitant about saying what he wanted to say.
"Lia I... I love you" said Pete as he just said it and Lia looked at him in surprise.
"You love me?" asked Lia in uncertainty as Pete nodded, he had been waiting for the perfect time to say it, that's why he planned this whole thing, so it could be special when he told her.
"Yes I love you Cecilia Thomas, you are the most lovely, most sweet, most gentle, honest woman I have ever met, and I am proud to tell you that I fell in love with you, these past few months being together have been nothing but the best, and I can see myself still with you in the future" said Pete as he smiled and Lia just looked at him, stunned.
"I don't wish to force you into anything Lia, but do you feel the same?" asked Pete as he smiled and Lia looked away.
"Do you?" asked Pete calmly.
"I do Peter but..." said Lia in a small voice.
"But what?" asked Pete.
"All those things you said about me they are nice but... they are not true, that's what everyone thinks" said Lia as Pete laughed.
"What do you mean? It's all true, you are fun to be around, you are caring all your friends can testify to that" said Pete with a smile as Lia sighed.
"You don't really know me Peter... I'm not that perfect..." said Lia as she sounded sad.
"Then I can learn to know you, the real you, and you're right, you're not perfect, no one is" replied Pete as he held her hand and she turned to look at him and she smiled sadly at him.
"Peter I do love you to but... I..." said Lia as she paused and she smiled.
"I love you" she said as she gave him a kiss and he smiled.
