Chương 27: Espresso

Natasha walked into the coffee shop, it was packed, as if everyone in the whole city wanted to drink coffee today, but then again, Natasha could not blame them, this was one of the best coffee shops in the whole city.

Natasha found a vacant table and she sat down, waiting for who she had called to arrive, she placed her order and she was patiently waiting while using her phone, but that was until she heard the voice of a familiar person that made her look up and smile.

"You know it is very ironic that this is your favourite coffee shop when you don't even drink coffee at all" said a brunette man as he pulled out a seat out of the table Natasha was sitting on.

"You know that they make my favourite tea best" said Natasha as she smiled.

"Oh how satisfying drinking tea in a coffee shop" he said.

"Haha Pete are you done criticising my life choices?" asked Natasha as she laughed.

"Ahhh I'm not quite there yet" he said

"Oh haha very funny" said Natasha as she laughed.

"How are you Nat?" asked the brunette man named Pete as he smiled.

"As good as I can be" said Natasha as she smiled.

"And how are you Pete?" asked Natasha.

"I am much better now, since it seems that you choose to remember me today" he said.

"Oh don't exaggerate Pete" said Natasha as she laughed.

"Oh tell me, when last did we talk?? About 5-6 months ago" said Pete.

"And of course only you would keep track of such" said Natasha as she laughed.

"Mhmmm" said Pete.

"I missed you" said Pete

"And I missed you too Pete" said Natasha as she smiled.

"But you cannot but the blame on me, you are also so busy, with your job" said Natasha.

"I made time to come here didn't I?" asked Pete.

"Mhmm we both know that's code for, I had nothing else important to take care of" said Natasha.

"To think that you think so little of me" said Pete.

"Oh don't turn the tables on me now" said Natasha as she laughed.

Peter Lawson, he was Natasha's very good friend, they had been friends for years now, and he was also the Commander of Police in the city, the whole reason they had met was because of his job.

"Son of the law, you know how hectic your job can be, so I don't expect you to have time for menial things like this" said Natasha as she laughed.

"And there you go again with that nickname of yours, you know that I don't like it when you call me that" said Pete as he sighed, Natasha's nickname for him was the son of the Law, since that was his first name, and he just happened to be a police officer.

"But you were destined to be a police officer, why else would your last name be Lawson" said Natasha as she laughed.

"Oh haha, very funny Nat" said Pete as Natasha laughed.

"It feels good to see you laugh" said Pete as he looked at Natasha as she smiled.

"Yes… yes it does" said Natasha as she felt rejuvenated after she had talked with Pete, he was the only one who could cheer her up with all the heartache she had been through, she knew that he would always find a way to make her smile, and she loved him for that.

Natasha smiled, she was sure that Pete had cried for her in her last life, and she appreciated that.

"Thank you" said Natasha as she smiled at the waitress who brought her tea.

"You are welcome Miss, can I get you anything sir?" asked the waitress as she turned to look at Peter.

"An espresso will be fine, Thank you" said Pete.

"Alright then Sir" said the waitress as she walked away.

"I always tell you that caffeine is not good for your health" said Natasha as she sipped her tea.

"Well when you become a police officer, you can try and see if leaf water will help you stay awake" said Pete as he joked.

"Oh haha, I remember that I wanted to be a Police officer, but a certain little, annoying someone would not let me" said Natasha as she eyed Peter.

"Right, I will just pretend that you did not say anything" said Pete.

"Mhmm" said Natasha.

"Your order Sir" said the waitress as she came back with the espresso.

"That was fast" said Natasha.

"Thank you" said Pete as he took his expresso and drank it.

"You are welcome Sir" said the waitress as she walked away.

"So tell me Nat, what do you want?" asked Pete as he looked at Natasha and put his expresso on the table.

"What do you mean what do I want? Can I not just want to spend time with me friend?" asked Natasha as she looked at Peter.

"Mhmm, okay, tell me what you want" said Pete

"*Sigh* Fine" said Natasha as she sighed.

"Was is that obvious?" asked Natasha.

"Yes, yes it was, Nat, I know you, I know when you need something so what is it?" asked Peter as he looked at Natasha.

"I hate that you are right" said Natasha.

"Haha, so what is it?" asked Pete as he laughed.

"Pete I need you to teach me how to use a gun" said Natasha as she went straight to the point.

"What?? Why?" asked Pete.

"No" he said.

"Aww why not Pete??" asked Natasha.

"Why in the world would you want to learn how to use a gun?" asked Pete.

"I want to learn how to protect myself" said Natasha.

"That makes no sense Nat" said Pete as he did not believe her at all.

"Does he beat you?" asked Peter as he looked at Natasha worriedly.

"Does a woman have to be beaten before she decided to learn how to protect herself and her child?" asked Natasha as she had a cold look in her eye as she sipped her tea.

"No, no she does not" said Pete as he sighed, he knew that of all the things that scoundrel could do, beating Natasha was impossible, he was not capable of doing that.

"But I have a feeling that there is something you are not telling me" said Pete.

"Look Pete there is nothing" said Natasha as she lied, as much as she did not want to, telling him that she died and she went back in time would just sound crazy no matter how much he would believe her, so it was best that she kept all of that information to herself.

"I just want to learn how to defend myself, and what better way than to learn to use a gun" said Natasha.

"I do not believe you Nat, but nevertheless, my answer still remains No" said Pete.

"You know what Pete, it's fine, I knew you would say this" said Natasha.

"But I asked you anyway, because I thought that our long ten years of friendship would mean something to you, but it clearly does not" said Natasha.

"Oh don't you dare" said Pete.

"But I do not care about your answer at all, I am still going to find someone else to teach me, even if it is not you" she said.

Pete sighed, he knew how stubborn she could be, and he knew that once she had set her mind to something she was not going to back down.

"*Sigh* Fine, I will teach you" said Pete.

"Oh, Pete thank you" said Natasha as she smiled.

"Don't get too excited, I am only doing this so you don't go find some maniac to teach you" said Pete.

He knew how crazy Natasha could be, he had experienced it first hand when they were in high school, she could be as gentle as a dove, and yet she could be as cunning as a fox, like what she did right now, she knew that he would not want her to get hurt, and hence why she went ahead and tried to guilt him into doing it, and well she did.

He was five years older than her; he was currently thirty and she was twenty-five, he remembered back in high school how much she pestered him because of a certain little secret of his, that she managed to find out.

"Aww I know you care for me Pete" said Natasha as she laughed.

"But you have to give me something in return for teaching you" said Pete.

"Alright then" said Natasha.

"How about I bring your lovely, cute, wonderful niece to meet you?" asked Natasha.

"You drive a good bargain" said Pete.

"Haha of course I do" said Natasha.

"So what do you say?" she asked.

"Alright then" said Pete as he drank his espresso.

"When do you want to start?" asked Pete.

"Right now" replied Natasha, and Pete sighed.
