Mariano dropped his hands to his side and exhaled the breath that he did not know he was holding upon hearing Iris' voice, screaming.
"Do you really have to do this? Calixto said you're going to be here after you have finished with what he asked you to do."
"Are you okay?"
Silence enveloped the room for Granny did not answer any of Mariano's questions. Instead, she looked at Iris who was standing still inside her arms.
"Don't choose a man who speaks a lot."
Mariano heaved a deep sigh and shook his head.
"I'm preparing Iris' dinner. If you're done talking, come out," he said, before turning on his heels and heading back to the kitchen.
When the door closed, Iris pushed Granny's arms away from her and turned around to face the other woman.
"Why didn't you tell him that you're injured and would not stay here for long?"
