Chương 14: Progress
I'm not sure what Fury did, but I was able to form the Hospice relatively quickly. Despite much opposition the government supported my work in the end. Thus I had legitimately. I sent over an Auto-Doctor to some of my heroes and released several technologies world wide. Technically sense it was medical technology, all hospitals had access to the equipment I used, however, on the terms of medicine? Drugs and stuff are independently licensed so I really do not have to worry about other Medical Centers throwing my own out of business. My Hospice grew stupidly quickly as well. It was only a few days and then suddenly I had already stretched into nearby cities. I mean my over all influence was growing stupidly rapidly and I had plenty of favors from politicians. Having a treatment for every known disease to man is pretty profitable, who would have guessed. It might surprise you, but I didn't actually convert the funds I gained from my medical practices into buy value unless I was buying things from the world of medicine. Most of my cash was used to further the spread of the Hospice into new cities and towns. I was curing addictions and other things with relative ease, and some people were happy about it, others not so much. A lot of people made money off the drug trade, now that I basically removed their buyers, well only a few casual people actually tried drugs. Although they did have a short spike for a while since I basically had a steady supply of anti-addiction treatments.
I earned several peace prizes among other things in the days that followed, not that I showed up to any of them, Guardian'sLureStudios became a legendary name really quickly, Guardian's Lure Hospice acting as a rather effective advertisement, further increasing the flow of BP, GV, and FV. So what now? Well, first I employed several more heroes across the U.S. as well as several oversea heroes and heroes in other countries. Avatars were seen on the news across the world pretty quickly. It became pretty obvious these heroes were being funded by Guardian'sLureStudios, namely due to my logo being on their backs. These Heroes were dubbed Guardians pretty quickly. Now then, we push the end of the things going on in the normal world, let's go to the gaming side.
With my site rapidly growing I was connected to hundreds of millions of people. Especially in China. Although my site was deemed illegal by censorship… for about a day. I paid an express visit to several people and forcefully fixed that issue. Turns out, I can be pretty violent and scary at times. I had a translation device and I made it fully obvious about my displeasure. It ended up just being a casual talk as we came to an agreement. Still did have to threaten some people. But I really quickly got my stuff unbanned from China.
Now we catch up to now. It's only really been two months honestly. Guardian's Lure isn't an extremely well known brand name, but it is definitely up there. I sat down in my chair, and then opened up Minecraft on my computer.
I open my eyes as I take a look around, Full Dive VR. Fully developed techno wizardry that makes very little sense but it is extremely functional. So I haven't been releasing new games, but that doesn't mean I haven't been working on them. Skyrim, Metroid, and Super Mario Brothers.
Naturally I released Super Mario Bros, it was received with great gusto too. As for Skyrim, Metroid, and Minecraft? Well I made those all in Full Dive VR. I was forcing myself to be patient and not release them just yet. While keeping up tournaments and giving rewards to Players the Competitive League was quickly fleshed out and formed without much of my input and I had A.I.s assisting pretty much all corners of my industry including customer service.
Patience is a virtue and I had to do this gradually. I had already alluded to highly advanced technology and it showed. With my print a hero tech and more. I will admit one of my Middle Eastern heroes are pretty much a warlord bringing order to their area. But it is needed I guess. It's definitely increasing their regional value and quality of life.
Then my phone started to ring. Outside of the game… I exited out of minecraft. The game was really addicting. I opened up the phone and answered the unknown number.
"GuardiansLure or otherwise known as Eric Williams."
I smiled, "Nick Fury. What's up."
"You've made me pretty busy, with all the stunts you've been pulling."
"I don't know about that, Mr. Fury. I thought I was pretty tame honestly."
"So tame is holding a Chinese Leader over a balcony?"
"Ok I will admit I acted a bit irrationally. But we worked it out in the end. I mean it's not as bad as what I was going to do to the Canadian president."
"I see. Mr. Williams, would you say this line is secure?"
"Of course. Although I cannot say the same about your phone."
"Don't worry it's secure. How did you know about HYDRA?"
"Ah, I had to investigate potential troubles to my interests, SHIELD had the potential to be a big threat. So I did a bit of digging and found… well, You know the rest."
"Cleaning up was fairly difficult. But I have a question, that uplifting thing you mentioned, what did it entail."
I leaned back, "Well, basically I would keep on working on spreading my influence into new markets while pushing new technologies to the forefront and constantly upgrading our technology. Although, I have a bit of a new issue."
"New Issue, what, has Red Skull come back to life or something?!"
"Well, yes, but that's not the issue I'm talking about. I'm talking about the Skrull."
He stopped for a second. "You dropped two bombshells, and you are explaining. Now!"
"Which one do you want to start with?"
"Red Skull, what do you mean they are back."
"Exactly that, Although I am not sure where exactly he went. But one of my… Guardians. Found them in one of their heroic missions in Australia. It was not pretty. When I got some reinforcements there the Red Skull and his agents were gone. But yeah, definitely back."
"Damn it, the Captain isn't going to be happy about that."
"I imagine not, how is the Captain by the way, they acclimating well to the current climate?"
He's quiet for a moment, "How do you know that we found the Captain?"
"Well, for one, you just said the Captain isn't going to be happy about that, and I also looked through your files."
"I see. Now what about the Skrull?"
I looked at the image on my screen, of a Skrull agent that attempted to infiltrate my Hospice, currently deceased. "They are back, and they are trying to get into my Hospice organization. They didn't get really far, but it is still rather alarming."
"Agreed. I'll have to get in contact with a friend."
"Good. But before that can you do something for me?"
"What."
"I want to work with the SHIELD to make new weapons. However I'd like General Ross removed from Command."
"I can't say we are not… interested. But why General Ross."
"They are obsessed with hunting down the Hulk, despite Hulk not being a threat. Causing tons of collateral damage and affecting my customers."
"I'll see what I can do. But you will have to show what you're offering. How about a weapons showcase?"
"Heh, no problem. I got some cool stuff to show off."
Then Fury hung up on… I should have hung up first. Oh well. I'm not actually surprised that Nick Fury found out who I was so quickly. I'm not really well disguised since I'm wearing basically the same outfit with the only difference being a mask. Still this is exciting. Each step is setting up the path for a technological uplift in the future. I stood up and opened the door leading outside of my little bedroom, into a full on megabase. It cost a ton of Fan Value, but it was definitely worth it. It allowed me to organize things as well as make research rooms where the A.I. will figure out how to make things I don't understand.
Maybe tomorrow I should pay a visit to the shelter? It would probably be worth it. I haven't talked to Peter or Miss May in a while. Yeah, I think that is a decent idea, especially since Fisk is now in prison and I have five Guardian's helping Spiderman with the huge upsurge in crime.
