"Ian… can you help me set up my tent?" Zaphiel held the tent rods of her small tent and looked at me with teary eyes.
"Did you not learn how to do this?" I helplessly dropped my stuff and went to help her first.
In my estimation, we still have a fourth of the journey from here to Silkis Town. However, the sun will set soon, so I figured that we should get our camp ready.
"Look closely, okay? I'll teach you how to do it, and you'll help set up my tent too." I grabbed her tent rods and stuck them together before sticking them through the tent. Zaphiel quickly learned the simple steps and mirrored them.
While looking at the girl setting up her tent, I became speechless again. Why the heck are the people of this world letting 10 year olds go out on journeys!? This was something that I never understood.
"Purrloin~" An alluring call suddenly called out.
"Eh?" Following the sound, I glanced at the forest side and saw a purple cat Pokemon. It strolled out from behind a tree and entered our campground.
"Wow!! Who's that Pokemon!? It looks so cute!" Zaphiel immediately dropped what she was doing and hoped towards the purple cat Pokemon.
"I'm not even sure what it is…" I took out my Pokedex and aimed it at the purple cat. I have some knowledge about Pokemon, but that doesn't mean that I'm omnipotent. Since I'm not a super fan of Pokemon, I would still need help when I see these unfamiliar Pokemon.
As my Pokedex booted up, Zaphiel grabbed her empty Pokeball, intending to see if the cat would like to be caught. "Ian, I would like to catch this Pokemon! You wouldn't mind, would you?"
"Uhh, I don't mind. Go ahead." I nonchalantly answered. I already caught a Scyther, and I'd like to save my Pokeballs for other Pokemons.
"Thank you, Ian. Hey, come here, little kitty." Zaphiel dropped to her knees and invited the purple cat over.
"Purr~~" The purple cat didn't seem to be bothered and strolled up to Zaphiel's side.
>> Beep! This Pokemon is a purrloin, a Dark-type Pokemon. Purrloin is a primarily purple, feline Pokémon. Its head has tufted fur on its ears and cheeks. There are long, tapered violet markings above its green, eyes. It has a diminutive black nose on its creamy muzzle and a small, oval, cream-colored marking above each eye.
The Pokedex's descriptive female voice echoed, informing us about the details of the purple cat.
"So, you're Purrloin! You're so cute, purrloin! Would you like to come with me on my journey?" Zaphiel overheard the description and she showed her sweet face to the purrloin. She also extended her hand to it.
"Purrloin~" Purrloin turned its cheek to the side, allowing Zaphiel to touch her soft fur.
I watched her performance and was speechless. Is this how you catch Pokemon now?
>> Beep! As a warning to Trainers, Purrloin is a mischievous Pokemon that likes to steal from people. Purrloin feels amusement from the frustration of those it steals from. It will put on a cute act in order to get its victims to let their guard down.
My face froze after hearing the Pokedex's continued description. Why didn't you mention it sooner!
I closed the Pokedex and yelled: "Zaphiel, that Pokemon—!"
"Purrloin!" Purrloin used Scratch and managed to leave a small cut on Zaphiel's hand.
"Zaphiel! Mavis, come out! Protect us from purrloin!" I summoned Mavis and ran towards Zaphiel. When I reached her and pulled her away, Mavis also appeared and used Pound.
"Purr~" Purrloin reacted quickly and pounced back at Mavis with its paws.
That move, it's Fake Out! I recognized that Pokemon move. When hit, it will cause the target to flinch.
"Piplup!! Piplup!!" Mavis received the hit and winced at the pain.
"Mavis!" I called out, but it was useless. Mavis was still under the effect of the move.
"Purr~~" Purrloin swiftly moved away from the battle while Mavis was unable to battle, and it arrived at the things that my mother packed for me.
Purrloin stared at the things laid out in front of it. It smirked and used its paws to grab the food and tent that was still rolled up. Personally, it felt a big sense of gratification from messing around with these trainers that comes around here.
Plus, it will also get a good meal every time it steals things from these trainers, and it will get to see the trainers frustrated!
"Purrloin, Purrloin!"
"Piplupppp!" After shaking its head to get out of Fake Out's flinch, Mavis became angry. It stared at the car and puffed its chest. The next moment, a stream of water rushed out of its beak and flew towards Purrloin.
Purrloin sneered and easily dodged the Water Gun.
"Purr~ Purr~" With ease, Purrloin held the stolen items and ran away.
"Mavis, that's enough. You did well." I stroked the head of Mavis who became downcasted after losing the battle.
"Piplup…" Mavis quietly muttered and came to me, asking to be put back in the Pokeball.
"Here, rest first. Don't worry about it. You would've won if you weren't trying to protect us." I clicked the Pokeball and Piplup disappeared after the flash of light.
I then cast my gaze on Zaphiel's cut. She was bleeding, although just slightly. Once again, though, I'm awakened to the fact that this is a real-world and not just a cartoon world where people and Pokemon don't get hurt. In fact, it could get really dangerous and death isn't an impossibility.
"Are you okay, Zaphiel?" I took out a bandage from my pocket and handed it to the girl.
Zaphiel sat on the ground and was in shock. This was also her first experience getting harmed by Pokemon. Back in the village, she was always protected. Although she was warned by her mother countless times before, she never really paid attention because the Pokemons around the village were always nice.
"I'm alright, Ian. Thank you for saving me again, and I'm sorry for not being careful. I should've just battled it normally."
I smirked and flicked her forehead. "Don't worry about it. I didn't even know that Purrloin would attack you."
"Ow, you meanie!" Zaphiel covered her forehead and pouted.
"Anyways, lets finish setting up your tent. We'll be a bit more vigilant tonight in case Purrloin comes back to steal more things."
"Ian, why don't you sleep in the tent while I sleep outside with your sleeping bag? It's my fault that your tent was stolen after all." Zaphiel's face changed into a guilty one after hearing me mention the stolen items.
"Don't worry about it, Zaphiel. I'll sleep outside! However, I might need you to share your food. I'm rather hungry."
PG-13 at the moment! I will consider adding in uhh you know if you're over 18 scenes in later chapters if enough people requests it. Also, send me them power stones. It boosts my ego.
